Hearsay, but I've heard if a little old lady shopkeeper (for example) in Japan, makes a complaint about a foreigner. It could be for any reason. Again, his point is it depends on what your personal need for freedom is and how you define it. I find it laughable that the US considers itself the bastion of freedom in the world when this is evidentially obviously not that case in many instances. (As they dispense democracy around the world one bomb at a time.) "Freedom" in the USA is more a propaganda talking point than an actual thing in many instances...July 4th is my least favorite holiday because it rings so hollow anymore.

I saw somewhere on the Net that Sweden was rated as one of the freest countries in the world. However, given the fact that you can be dragged into court for saying something that displeases the Swedish government, I would write Sweden off ASAP. In fact, if my memory serves me correctly, a Swedish artist was thrown in prison because the Swedish government was very upset over his artwork. In the USA that would never have happened. I also saw where Switzerland was highly rated on the freedom scale but given its attempt to extradite Italian writer Oriana Fallaci so she could be put on trial for some alleged racist content in her book, I would therefore have to write Switzerland off as well. As for the USA, its judicial system is corrupt. American courts follow the U.S. Constitution only when it is convenient for them to do so. The First Amendment is still protected but the second and fourth Amendments are not. So, as it now stands I would say New Zealand is most likely the freest country in the world.

Sometimes I don't understand why people are still living in the u.s. The revolution was fought due to taxation, (how many americans realize this). Do americans really have the right to free speech? Only if you say things that are deemed "acceptable" to the government and society (or cancel culture). I think a large part of the problem is people don't know where to go, (the language barrier is a big problem). Topic suggestion: Stepping back a bit from countries. Which cultural groupings are having which problems and which cultures have attributes for all the desirable features. Such as freedom, privacy, etc. I write this because it seems that the Anglo-sphere is experiencing an increase in P.C-ness. And, all that goes with it. Perhaps even moving towards losses of freedom and increases towards socialism. Compared to the Germanic cultural areas for another group. Latin American countries for another group. (Plus maybe, what are the vulnerabilities from Chinese expansion in different parts of the world.) I know that's a lot of stuff, but it's up to you. Key question though is: Are Germanic and Scandinavian cultures more resistant to the dramatic changes that seem to be unfolding in the Anglo-sphere? (I know they are set in their ways, otherwise you could buy milk on a Sunday.)
@OffshoreCitizen3 жыл бұрын
This is an amazing suggestion! There is something to be said for different cultures being susceptible to certain things, while others are not. Measures during pandemic and how people behaved during these measures was a good indicator of this. Some countries were quite a bit more relaxed (Montenegro for example) than others, such as France or Germany. Culture is a good indicators of how far rules can go. This is a great topic for discussion. It seems to me that Scandinavian cultures are more of rule following cultures than Anglo cultures. People seem to be accepting what's been told without much fuss, while Anglo Saxons are big on their rights and questioning everything.

Haha well most parts of the world are better than Australia for tax, the ATO are nuts. So the bar isn't so high in that regard. Having both beach and snow is tougher so here are some thoughts. - Bulgaria, Romania, Georgia & Montenegro will all give you beach as well as snow and seasons with much lower tax - Turkey gives beach and snow though tax is more complicated and tough - Chile has a tax exemption available and offers beach and snow - San Marino doesn't have beach but is a 30 minute drive away from Remini Italy for beaches There's a bunch of places that give you 4 seasons with better tax but don't have beach so you could always travel for the beach such as - Switzerland - Liechtenstein - Andorra - Ireland Or on the flip side you could live somewhere warm for tax and travel for the snow.

Without having to defend your rights against police or govermant, to do ABSOLUTELY anything you want? If you say yes, then you are a hypocrite and your videos are fucking irelevant then, if you say no, then you prove my point.

Did he just blame mass shootings on the right to bear arms? Wow. Talk about confusing the issue. He Just lost me.
@MichaelRosmer3 жыл бұрын
Actually I specifically said they weren't necessarily correlated but that in a county with right to bear arms (the US) you also have this other. So you pick a country that has one and you might not have the other so which country do you want?

FYI, the second amendment is to use against a tyrannical gov and that is the primary purpose. Japan may be safer but their citizens will have no means to stop any gov going tyrannical. There is a lot to this issue to explain like weak judges not throwing the book at criminals because they don't want to imprison more violent b people who do most of the shootings.

Yeah I get it historically but I don't think it's nearly so valid in the modern day. Realistically that should probably be a protection on encryption services and other similar protections

"America the most dangerous country in the developed world" 🤣 you gotta be kidding, let me know when America has to deal with acid attacks on a regular basis like us in the UK, per capita were far worse in all regards and we're not as bad as france 🤣

Not even close check the homicide rates. US is 4.96, UK is 1.2, France is also 1.2

"you gotta be kidding" He's not. The US has a homicide rate worse than several 3rd world nations. Go look it up before replying.

In several respects the US is basically akin to a developing country with a shinny premium skin. The violent crime rate is one of them, and hell there are states in the US that rank alongside actual developing nations in things like poverty rates, education, and quality of life.
