What is... Futurism?

When Futurism emerged in Italy at the beginning of the 20th century, the country was, according to the perception of several avant-garde artists, frozen in agrarian backwardness. At the same time, the world was being reshaped by the intensifying social question and the resulting political, often revolutionary changes.
Time, then, for art to face this world of the future with an equally new and modern art that throws the old overboard and celebrates the new: Futurism is thus born from a rebellion of young intellectuals.
