How to deal with it: complain on tumblr and label yourself so you can fit in with other people who label themselves like that. Just be who you want to be, no one cares after high school what you want to be.

Your videos have helped me out so much! I've also had those weird moments where I feel awful about my transition, but they pass quickly once the dysphoria comes back. It definitely coincides with periods of poor mental health.

in answer to those questions: I don't know I would be comfortable living as my birth sex, but I've recently come to question it, I'm not sure about it anymore. I don't feel female, I don't feel male, I don't know what I feel like and it's so confusing, and anxiety inducing, that I feel like crying. I don't know what to do

+BingoGIggleGoober Number one: gender is not a social construct. Number two: gender is determined by the brain. Some people are born with brains that don't fit their genitals. Your ignorance is astounding.

***** No it's not. You're getting *gender roles* confused with *gender as a biological marker*. Society may dictate what clothing or ways to act but all animals including humans have a mental sense of gender. Your genitals aren't what dictate your view of gender. You have a brain too. You don't stare at your genitals 24/7 just to clarify what gender you are. It's a built in feature that, in some, may not align with biological sex. There are even many multiple factors that dictate gender, even hormonal factors. Going by your logic the moon doesn't exist because society dictates it does.

Hey Autumn, I hope I don't come across as a bad person but I have never understood the idea of Gender as non binary, well, I kinda do. I want to understand it, I really do but I feel like I don't understand it enough really (honestly, I feel like my opinion is slightly clouded by the stereotype of it being a "tumblr" thing). On one hand, I acknowledge sexuality completely as a spectrum and that it completely varies so then I think "why not gender"? but on the other hand, I cannot quite imagine gender outside of male and female and the idea of being both or neither or trigender or two-spirit and all the other identities that exist. Again, I am not necessarily saying it is not genuine but I just don't quite get it. I have always understood gender as a deep ingrained feeling of being rather than just "I like to dress like a girl sometimes, does that make me a girl instead?" sort of thing like you could transition from male to female and still dress as a male because gender is just your ingrained sense of being. I don't understand how someone could be both male and female in their gender identity though. I kind of get it but I kind of don't and it confuses me a hell of a lot. I am a really open minded guy and want to educate myself on these matters but I just don't get it really. Again, I hope I am not coming across as rude and would be happy for someone to explain it a bit better to me. Gender and sexuality is something that really fascinates me and so I do want to learn more about it :) Loving your videos by the way! I seriously enjoy watching them :D

Eclectic Avenue Yeah, this is a very complicated topic and it is hard to explain to someone who doesn't experience it themselves but it can be put quite simply. So: if you are a binary transperson you may have been assigned female at birth but may feel more comfortable with male pronouns and/or body, etc. But if you are non-binary you may feel uncomfortable with both female and male pronouns and other things that are gendered, or comfortable with all of them. It just feels like none of it really fits you, neither "girl" nor "boy" sits particularly right. However non-binary people can lean more towards one side of the gender spectrum or even prefer gendered pronouns. It is hard to fully put to words as we are all very varied and feel differently about our bodies, names and gender roles, etc, maybe even more so than binary people do.

Well this actually really helped me to understand in what situation I might be right now. I really feel like I have a really bad case of gender dysphoria. Now, sorry if I say something stupid I might have gotten all this stuff wrong but I tried my best to understand. I was a trans boy for some time and I recently came out to my mom, however after that even when she supported me (still has some problems that refuses to admit) literally like one hour after I came out I started to regret, all the good moments I had with people and friends talking to me like the male I felt I was felt wrong from start to end, it has been just a little more than a month since I started feeling like that and my anxiety + depression won't help. Now I see that what I might have right now is dysphoria and ??? I forgot the word but basically just throwing everything to te trash and not for good but for bad. Thank you for taking the time of making this video to help people out there who need it.

Hi Autumn , I have no idea how I missed this one , but of all the videos I have seen this no mattered , this one is for real . That is not to say your other videos are not good , but what you said in this needs to be yelled from one closed coast to the other. You nailed it girl 😘 , I understand who I am and what I am , however you have made it clear in your presentation to people that might not understand what is happening to them. We really don`t stop growing until our mid 20`s. I can`t believe this video is almost 3 years old , when back in the day , they did think of it as a disorder , we did not or never well need fixing !! So glad the WHO had the official wording changed to dysphoria and not disorder. Trans = action / intention , change ---- Dysphoria = feelings ---Gender is ones minds eye of the true self. Thereby giving the term Trans-Gender Dysphoria // We desire action to correct the feelings of our true selves. Thank you for doing your part , all my best , 😁 Gary

Thanks for doing this video Autumn, it's a subject that probably can't be discussed enough as it often touches at the heart of who we are as trans people. Wish there were more gender-queer and transsexual's who choose something other than a full transition talking about their experience with dysphoria and the solutions, relief they've discovered. For example, though I'm probably transsexual, I've not done a full transition and may never do, but voice feminization therapy has been tremendously beneficial and is helping me to have the confidence to speak in a voice that is much more in harmony with who I am (something as obvious, simple as clothes can be surprisingly curative agents). By far the biggest help and balm for me has been the realization that I can think of myself as a woman and in those terms of the world around me as well. Came quite naturally once started giving myself permission. Clearly not quick or easy work rediscovering our worlds. Joyful? Often.

I want to share some little tough about gender: Gender is a psychological aspect of us, so as we know the genitalia does not always match the gender of an individual. In other words there are women who born with a male genitalia, there are men who born with female genitalia and so there are men and women that born with both sexual organs (in different configurations and variatios), who are known as hermaphrodites.

Body Dysmorphic Disorder (BDD) is a psychological disorder characterized by excessive appearance concerns. This cross-sectional study assessed an undergraduate sample of 1,041 participants from a southeastern American university to estimate an overall prevalence of BDD; investigate differences by gender, race/ethnicity, and sexual orientation; and also examine the contributions of other related constructs including appearance comparison, obligatory exercise, body image disturbance, and self-esteem. Results indicated an overall prevalence of 4.9%. Women endorsed more symptoms of BDD than men, among women Caucasians and Latinas endorsed more symptoms than African Americans, and sexual minorities endorsed more symptoms than heterosexuals. Overall, BDD symptomatology was negatively correlated with body satisfaction and self-esteem and positively correlated with appearance comparison and obligatory exercise.

if your sex is Male than you are a male. What you do with your body or your brains tell you doesnt change your biology Gender is a social construct. a very stupid one. So why do LGBT's create even more Labels to put on if they are against Labels? Think about that. So dont be offended by people who percieve you as an Male specimen. Because Medicaly and Bilogicaly speaking you are. if you want to be labeled as an specific gender just calmly correct them. Its not their fault because you cant see what in someones elses brain. Only whats on the outside. sry for my bad english. Have a nice day.

According to research,thoughts emerge from neural processes. Humans tend to feel things according to how we perceive information ,so sex has no "feeling" ,science goes deeper than what our brain's process in the 10% that we use. I find it difficult to understand those who say scientific procedures such as hormones can change gender. According to biology,a threadlike structure of nucleic acids and protein found in the nucleus of most living cells, carrying genetic information in the form of genes scientifically determines gender (Chromosomes).Some tend to claim that Crispr DNA can annihilate or mutate chromosomes ,however ,Crispr DNA only binds to the DNA and cuts it, shutting the targeted gene off. The reason why mutating chromosomes or any cell will not be effective is because If you lost a section of DNA in only a single cell or small group of cells, the cells might live as before,and if not they would likely die or be killed due to the deviation. The body has multiple methods of getting rid of problem cells.If the chromosome became misshapen due to the missing DNA, the cellular divison process would break the chromosome and/or cause additional mutations, which would cause one or both cells to die. By stating that , the chromosome that one tried to mutate would only die ,and you would as well due to abnormal occurances and attempts at changing something that scientifically cannot be changed. Many have compared humans to clownfish in such topic as an example,however,in these species, such as many species of coral reef fishes, sex change is a normal anatomical process. . we do not have an anatomical process as they do. Although clownfish can change their physical anatomy , their chromosomes remain as male thoughrought their natural process. -

The cervical kiss is unforgettable. It is absolutely heaven itself. Everything else pales in comparison. I have a vivid memory of this even though I am a bio male. Not only that, I feel it as a woman would feel it. This ability has opened a window into life as a woman for me. I have crawled through that window and see the world with the eyes of a woman now. Not a bit angry about having a male body. This love is aimed inward and does not need validation from others.

I have been watching your videos for 4 hours now. I find them incredibly interesting and informative. I was wondering about one specific thing. I assume that you don't fall for people often, considering the information you have shared about yourself. But when you in fact do feel attracted to someone, does all sides of you feel this attraction? I figure that your sexual side and the unknown side are slightly in their own group... But does Autumn, Iris and the host all three feel attraction to the same people? I truly apologise if this was too personal or rude in some way, which I do not realise to be rude. I just truly want to know more about you and to understand you. Hope this doesn't seem odd.

Hi Autumn! I Think that this video was great, it really helped me in my process as a transsexual woman where I am right now, and to be prepered of what may come further down the road. I am dealing with a lot of dysforia right now and it has really been hard n me, and I feel as I, the last 4-5 Days or something like that, that I have been my "old self" again, kind of the same way you describe it, altouh I am pre-hormones and pre-surgery, and I have not made a descicion about either one of them, still. it really feels hard to act lika a guy again, to hink and feel and react as a guy, its like I have been brainwashed all my Life to be this person that I am not, and now I am discovering who I really am, but the identiy from the past still clings on as I become more and more myself, more and more the woman and person that I want to be. I guess this steps back just a part of the journey, even if it´s hard. That Before I truly have accepted that I am a woman this old "guy-self" will come back to haunt me and try to subdue my real identiti and personality, but I am Confident that I will succeed eventually, even if it is a struggle. Thanks for existing so that I could Wright this down, I am still "in the closet" and have no one to talk to. Sorry for babbling so much, hope you don´t feel bored. // A

If you must worry, well then start worrying about being just YOU. As there are no doubt forces in your life attempting to get you to pigeon-hole yourself into group a-z. Worry about being true to yourself and if you're just jumping into self-labelling as an A or Z because you want to fit-in & find a tribe to call your own. Ultimately that natural inclination of us all to want to be in a "tribe"/group is, in my opinion the greatest handicap to achieving our full happiness & creativity. As "group-think" quickly sets in. None of us have totally "figured ourselves out" as none of us are perfect. It's a full length life journey. and hey I'm guilty of wanting to "fit-in" too in the past but I'm trying real hard to cast off the shackles of peer pressure & you know what? I've never been happier.

What are your thoughts about people identifying as "otherkin"? For example they feel they truly are an angel, a wolf or even a fictional character born in the wrong (=human) body. Personally, I don't believe in the supernatural and think that otherkin is just a label people put on themselves to feel special. I also think it's incredibly disrespectful to people experiencing gender dysphoria and are very unhappy.
@Kytopaify
@Kytopaify 9 жыл бұрын
PentaPhobia1349 There is no science be it psychology or neurobiology that confirms otherkin to be real in the sense that gender dysphoria is. It is more of almost religous or playfull experience in their sense.
@PentaPhobia1349
@PentaPhobia1349 9 жыл бұрын
Kytopaify What you say is true, it seems to be kind of an esoteric thing. Which is why I'm interested to hear Autumns opinion, because I know she's a bit esoteric. Additionally, I would like to mention that the fact there is no research confirming it doesn't mean anything as long there is no research about it at all. Only when multiple respectable scientists can't find any indication for the existance of otherkin (independently from one another), the theory can be officially called unlikely. Until then, everything is just speculation based on opinions. And as much as I dislike the thought of people believing in the existance of otherkin, it would be biased to be so opposed to it without any scientific foundation. *shrugs*

if you don't agree with someone or know why they said something in particular, you should listen and give them a chance to explain themselves and where they are coming from. Watch the whole video, and hear her out before you make your judgement. Sex is biologically encoded in your DNA and binary, (though you have ppl who are biologically intersex en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Intersex). Sex is determined based on DNA. However, gender is a social construct, typically decided based on genital and/or your DNA and/or how you want people to perceive you. In most traditional western and eastern societies and cultures gender is binary (male or female and consistent with ones sex) though there are cultures where there are more than 2 genders (male, female, non-binary, etc en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gender). This is a widely accepted concept among anthropologists and social scientists. And is more consistent with how an increasing number of ppl view themselves. For the majority of people, who have clearly defined sex and agree with it, understanding the conflicting notion of having either a gender ambiguous body or psychologically disagreeing with the societal gender archetype assigned to oneself, is difficult. Gender and gender identity are not as black and white as they might seem. It's a spectrum, and no one should have to prescribe to what society thinks they should be. People can only truly be happy if they come to these conclusions on their own and not have an identity or role forced upon them.

"Be curious, not judgmental." - Walt Whitman. You don't have to agree with what someone says or believes, no one's forcing you to. But blocking them out completely, pretending they're delusional, flaunting your opinions around as though fact - it's foolish, childish behavior and you need to grow up.

Gender identity has no restrictions. Its just your perception of what your gender is. There is male, female, and intersex, so whose to say that you cant think you are both, one or the other, or neither?

Jeremy Fischer She was never a man, she was just born with sexual organs that people associate with males, and she technically is female, since gender is a feeling you have and the expression of yourself, what different sexualities are attracted to.

I'm female but I knew from a very young age that I'm not comfortable addressing myself as female but I do cuz that's what I was born. Now that I'm older & in a 3 way relationship I feel so out of place as a person & I don't know how to explain to my male counter part that I want to change my gender but I have explained it to my female counter part & she tells me that I should do what would make me feel more comfortable but my excuse is that I have 2 cute lil boys & I would have no clue how to explain to them later that mommy was not comfortable being a woman so she changed her gender. If u were me what would u recommend that I do?

well, i think this whole "not feeling right" thing is about gaps in social development, which i had, but i never thought i was a woman. i never learned how to be a "PERSON" i was left to my own divice as a child, i had to learn everything on a conscious level as an adult, its so hard, and its always an act. luckily i had the experience of being accepted by a competitive male social group during adolescence, even for just a short time, thats probly the only thing that keeps me from thinking im a female. psychology is fuckin crazy what do you mean theres more than male and female sexes? what are these other sexes? i dont even know how i would google that.

Okay first, sex and gender are different. Sex is what your born with, male or female, and sometimes there might be some kind of issue and someone's sex would be unclear. Gender is what she was referring to. Gender is what someone feels that they are. For example, a biological male might feel like they are female.

If gender is a social construct,then how is it possible to NOT identify with their birth sex?How can you "feel" like your the wrong sex?Because you like the other sexs' "socially constructed" values and things?But that goes against the whole idea that gender is a social construct.

It messed with my mind as a child. I'm trans, and I like girls. I've known I was a girl for half a second longer than I knew I liked girls. In TV, Movies, and books, all transwomen I was exposed to were straight (worse if they were just drag queens). I knew I liked women, but it made me feel broken on top of being a freak. I was told women had to like men, and I flat out don't like men.

***** yes, but 6 year old me, who was experiencing already wondering why I wasn't allowed to wear dresses, also wondered why the few times I saw boys dress as girls, that they liked boys. That only continued to make me feel bad for many years. Long before Jr high, I learned to not care about the media portrayal, but it still hurt sometimes. I love who I am, and I'm so happy I'm out, even though I came out before transition. Hell I just got my ears pierced yesterday, and have made plans for the cutest girly anklet and sandal tattoos. Like it'll look like I'm wearing cute sandals and anklets forever. *squee*. *clears throat*. I know there isn't anything wrong with being a lesbian. I was just saying, growing up, not seeing transwomen in the media who are lesbians. It can be hard.
