This is sick. I was just telling my coworker the other day how glow stringing was my initial introduction to flow arts. my buddy Frost out of ATX taught me and been going ever since then. as far as it being relevant still. ive seen alot more at fests rather than youre local show or event. Gotta love running into a fellow stringer though. Thanks for the vid and insight for those who may not know.

I feel like from an outside perspective its easy to compare to poi but when you have a more personal experience or think more about it, it has its differences, sense of style of spinning as you mentioned:)

super fun to flash back with this video. thanks for making it! I feel like the environmental aspect was a big part of it. So much negative thoughts from people about being toxic. I still drag out an orbit sometimes to play with too. They occupy the same room in my memory.

Thanks for explaining the different branches in glowsticking. I've seen you do some freehanding, but I didn't connect it to juggling how cooool

Sativa Strings was part of my introduction to high level glowsticking/poi, and the first time I saw someone spinning 3 things at once. This was like 2009/2010 in the kandEkreations days in Texas. Good times!

Funny thing about that guy, super solid stringer for sure. Except he came to my house and buy a 100 pair of ultras and never paid, and when I asked for the money he said 'fck you' -_-'

Yeah; I've seen rhetoric downplaying the skill involved in glowsticking on Poi forums in the past, but can attest to the technicality involved in the string manipulation, almost like combining yoyo's with poi in a more static sense.
@anko59172 жыл бұрын
Ohhh good point! I didn't think about it, but it is reminiscent of yoyo tricks. I hear there is even yoyo flow arts, but I haven't seen that yet.

@@anko5917 mhm; double yoyo(2A) looping is similar in looks to poi

You mentioned that maybe glowsticking is still alive and well at music festivals, do you think maybe the festival side of flow arts is very different than the whole of flow arts?
@jitpunkia2 жыл бұрын
I think it has kinda fused, glowsticking and poi in a way. Poi has gotten shorter and faster and glowstickier and glowsticking has got heavier and more into like flowlights, wraps do happen but its a bit different from the older style.
