@@ptthatswhatshesaid Here's how it worked. Different parts of the U.S. got each ending and they played them. The idea was to create discussions amongst the moviegoers. They eventually played all the parts but they spread it out over several weeks. "I hated her, soooooo much...it-it...the f.. it...flam...flames. Flames, on the side of my face, breathing-breathl- heaving breaths. Heaving breaths... Hea..." - This is one of the funniest lines in cinema history. Madeline Khan is such a legend, she improvised the line on the spot. In fact, this is the ONLY improvised scene in the whole film. Jonathan Lynn (who co-wrote and directed the film) HATED improvisation. He had written different dialogue for Mrs. White to say during this scene, but Madeline convinced him to let her try it improve. He agreed. They did 3 takes I think, and Madeline just went crazier and crazier. The cast had no idea what she was going to say (Col. Mustard's reaction in the background is all real) and the rest is cinema legend 🙂

Actually, Khan had forgotten her line and just kept talking. It wild have been a blooper, but the director really liked what she did and kept it in. It was the only improvised line in the whole movie, as the director didn't allow the actors to improvise. Everyone had to stick to the script, so if anyone broke or flubbed their lines, they would have to do it over again. The fact that Khan's rant was so funny that it had everyone laughing is what saved it for all the world to see.
@renzero920617 күн бұрын
@@TheRatsCast This isn't true. Khan was a consummate professional who would never forget a line, and was known to over-rehearse for her scenes. To add to that, here is an snippet from an interview with Lynn (writer/director), Lesley Ann Warren (Mrs. Scarlett) Colleen Camp (Yvette) and Michael Mckean (Mr. Green) - "LYNN: Madeline Kahn was wonderfully crazy. She was very inventive in the way she played her character. She came to me before we did the shot and said, "Do you mind if I improv something here?" I said, "Not at all, but I still want to shoot what's in the script just in case." WARREN: We were laughing our heads off. It was priceless. Her delivery is so unique, and I don't know anybody else that has her particular quality and comedic delivery. I've always said this group of actors were some of the very best comedic actors, and that's what made it so special. CAMP: Everyone applauded. She was beyond brilliant. MCKEAN: What you're seeing is the second pass. The first one is the same and hysterically funny, but we all just lost it and she broke too, I think. In take two, we were prepared. It was supposed to be just, "Yes, I hated her." That was the whole line. But she went off on this thing about the flames. LYNN: It made me laugh so much that I didn't bother to shoot the lines we had in the script."

They did this in hopes of getting more people to talk about the movie and go to more than one show. Now, when you watch it or rent it, it shows all three endings. Thanks, this was fun. When Mrs. White talks about her head burning with flames, she improvised that line. There's about five films that if I see a reaction for, it's a guaranteed watch from me. Two of those films are Clue and The Thing. In my version of Clue board game we had from at least the 80s, Mrs White was the maid. So initially I was disappointed the maid and Mrs White were now separate characters. But I got over it pretty fast. So my favorite characters are Mr Green and Mrs White. The end scene about the flames at the side of her face. Is the only improved scene in the movie. One of my favorite lines. It cracks me up and it's almost like she is losing it there for a moment. Mr Green his facial reactions when giving the Cop the tour crack me up. And the other favorite line of the movie, the butler states the Canadian Mounty slogan, "we always get our man." And Mr Green says "Mrs Peacock was a man?!" Slap, slap. It's so out of nowhere. I first saw you guys were doing Clue and I was excited, I was checking every day! But nothing. Finally it appeared after I saw your Thing upload. And it said it was uploaded 8 days ago. Like there's no way I didn't see it at all for a whole week. I honestly was wondering where it was cause I wasn't seeing it and it had been so long. KZbin is weird sometimes showing new uploads. In the English version of the board game, the murder victim is Mr. Boddy. If you can find it, there was a Clue 'spin-off' game, The Great Museum Caper. Mr. Boddy owns a museum full of paintings, and one of the players is an art thief. If the rest of the players catch the thief before he/she escapes with at least one painting, they win. If not, the thief wins. The paintings, cameras, and window/door locks are different each game. The locks are flipped over when the thief is trying to escape and are either locked or unlocked. The thief can take out the power or individual cameras. The other players use the cameras to find the thief. The thief has a little mini map behind a shield where they are noting where their character is on the board. It's really fun! So sad they discontinued it.

Yes, please watch Back to the Future. All 3 of them should be watched close together because they are VERY connected to each other so it's best to not leave too long between watching them. All 3 are very good so it will be a good experience for you. Tim Curry, who plays the butler/mr body in Clue, is probably best known in England for his role in The Rocky Horror Picture Show. I'm not sure that would translate well to Portugese culture but if you take a look at the synopsis you can make up your own mind. It's a different experience because it was originally a musical written for theatres and it feels a lot like a theatre experience more than a movie experience. See what you think from reading a little about it and then maybe you will put it on a poll. PS... It's called Cluedo in England, too. At the time the was another game called Clue, so they had to change the name for England. England has always been awkward like that. I apologise to the world.

I like this movie so much I wanted to make a video review of it. But in the end, it turned out to be a 1 hour and 32 minute video of me explaining scene transitions and stuff and me recreating most of the scenes from the movie, dressed in stylized versions of all the characters... Yes I'm dressed as all the women, but to my defense The dresses are actually upside down shirts, and chest area is socks under two shirts. I couldn't drop anything onto my head, so instead of Wadsworth getting hit on the head, he shouts and runs into the door and hits him into the crotch and he passes out. I called the video "Clue: The Movie, Review, Reactions & Recreations" here on KZbin. And even extended a few scenes. The "flames. flames on the side of my face," she continues by saying it was while she was watching her husband 'go up' into ashes. And I have the monkey's brains, segment also link to a certain adventure archeologist that also ate brains, and had a little buddy names Short Round. But I don't want to spoil it if you haven't seen either movie, hinting at that the two characters are the same person at different times in her life. I know a lot of people enjoy figuring it out as they watch a murder mystery. But I dunno, with Clue I kinda almost want to say "go in, don't try to figure it out, don't try to notice who's missing in which scene. Ect..." To anyone watching the first time. Some people I've seen react end up to focused on figuring it out so much, they miss almost all the jokes. Especially since there is multiple endings which have different murderers. Which by the way, in the multiple endings some scenes you watched originally would prolly be replaced by a scene you saw in the alternate ending, where appropriate. I believe there was three copies, all edited to support their specific ending. I think Ive heard each showing was marked in some way so you would know what ending you would get, I guess in case you went to see it again to see the other endings. What do you guys think, is this a movie one might enjoy more if they are told not to try and solve it during their first watch or what?

The black comedy "Deathtrap" (1982) with Michael Caine is also worth taking a look at, though the plot has distinct similarities to the earlier "Sleuth" (1972) a much more serious movie that also stars Mr. Caine.

Hi Daniel & Lucy, the game was created by a British board game designer in the `40`s. Launched under the same name I`ve always known it as (Cluedo). Apparently, in the U.S. they changed it to (Clue) for some reason & hence they named the film after that. It was a really enjoyable film & I`m glad you enjoyed it so much.
@Gravydog3168 күн бұрын
it was changed to Clue, because Cluedo makes no sense
@long-timesci-fienthusiast96268 күн бұрын
@@Gravydog316 From what I can gather, the board was made in a similar style to another popular British game called Ludo. The Waddington`s executive who purchased it, added Clue & Ludo together to get the trademark name of Cluedo. Apparently, Ludo is latin for "I Play" which I never knew before.

I don't think anyone really catches everything about a movie on the first go, and that's before the linguistic and cultural issues. I think if anyone gives you grief for that, they aren't the sort of person you want in your community in the first place. I absolutely adore this movie. I also adore the board game--and I, too, am always Professor Plum. 😄 I really enjoy how closely they adhered to the board game, including the end where you have what amounts to two "suggestions" and one "accusation". 😄 As for favorite characters, it's really hard to pick anyone besides Tim Curry's character. Tim Curry is--well--Tim Curry. He steals every scene he's in, in every movie he's in. And I definitely recommend _Back to the Future._ That's a great franchise. 🏳🌈🖖

in our high school play, I wanted to play Miss Scarlet, but everyone said I had to be Yvette because I had the biggest boobs (haha) so I was Yvette, (& was the understudy for Miss Scarlet,) but I got to wear a $500 custom-made maid outfit costume just like the movie one I wish I could have kept it 😂

I wish I could get my hands on the shooting script for this movie, just to see how Tim Curry's part was written up with everything he had to do on screen!
@Gravydog3168 күн бұрын
Tim Curry actually had to go to the hospital because of all the running around that he did & the idea for this Clue movie came from John Cleese, who wrote a script & was going to play the butler, but when director Jonathan Lynn came on, Lynn & John Landis wrote a whole new script & Lynn wrote the part of Wadsworth the butler for his old high school friend Tim Curry
@kingscorpion73468 күн бұрын

Don’t feel bad about not catching everything on the first view. This is the sort of movie that requires multiple watches, for the mystery, and as well as the time period it is set in. 2. Also, you Should use subtitles for ALL movies. Lots of movies, especially those Before 2000, can have dips and weird things happening with the sound vs dialogue. Don’t feel bad. Great reaction. 3. Maybe add different color to your background, or couch. It all kind of blends together.

ACTUALLY, there were FOUR endings. But after filming the part of fourth ending... it was scrapped for some reason. But it ended up in the novelization. Apparently it was too dark for the movie. In it, Wadsworth tries to frame Peacock and Plum. But Plum deduces the truth. Turns out Wadsworth has poisoned all their champagne, but as he is about to leave the evangelist rings the bell, and the police bust in. Wadsworth escapes the house locking everyone in, and steals a cop a car. But then he realizes there's three dogs in the backseat, which chow down on him.
