I know this is old but, Walmart has a 4 pack of stainless kabob skewers for a couple dollars! There's a hook on the end, I tie a plastic string to it so I can pull it out of the tank. Easier than forks.

Sitting here having breakfast which is coffee and toast. I feed all my Pleco's Algae wafers, fresh unblanched cucumber, zucchini, baby spinach leaves, fresh watermelon and normal green beans fresh from my mothers garden. I have a laugh at the different names people call the same foods in different parts of the world.

I’ve never done it, but I don’t think it would hurt. However there is little to no nutritional in lettuce. Non organic is fine.

p.s. I tie two long cable ties joined onto a stainless steel fork to put food into the tank, the end of the cable tie is attached to an alligator clip which I clip on to the top edge of the glass/lid. When the food is finished with I can leave the cable ties on the fork and wash ready for the next feed.

My female brittlenose pleco loves cucumbers. I always boil mine a little bit just to get it soggy and heavy. Maybe I’ll try fresh next time. The watermelon sounds great, I’ll do that in the summer. My pleco doesn’t have bristles and is fairly small. I think she’s about 2 months old.

Word to the wise folks, some fruit is sprayed with a protective wax to make it shine/last longer. I wash all fruit with warm boiled water, using a soft brush then rinse with warm water. Peel if still in doubt. Strangest food eaten by my fish?..........ground up lean lamb, (cooked) my angelfish loved it.

Forget it you would think o starve her to death she sees it in the dark too and literally just stays on the bottom where the waters usually go now. I feed my Super Reds squash and all manner of flake food and some frozen Blood worms and frozen brine shrimp. I haven't tried all the other things you listed except cucumbers and French cut beans but I didn't like the mess. I don't blanch either for the same reason. I don't even peel the squash. Good to make work for their food.😁

Ok, I'm a registered nurse, yes I took human nutrition at the college level. Watermelon does have nutritional value! Yes it is mostly water but it gives the fish vitamin c, vitamin B5, and a few other goodies.

I had sweet corn when I was there 20 years ago, i don't know if it was Jersey corn, but it wasn't as good as Iowa corn. I mean there's a reason Iowa produces more corn than most countries do. We grow good corn.

Sorry to hear about your plecos! Always a fan of your videos. I'm semi-local, still in the learning stages after falling into guppy ownership. Seems like fishkeeping and lizardkeeping both encourage people to buy more veggies lol. Also I thought cucumber and peas help keep fish from bloating? Not sure.

Peas can help bloating in herbivorous and some omnivorous fish, but not carnivorous fish. Give a betta a pea and you could kill them. But goldfish love peas and guppies will eat just about whatever you give them. 😊

Im looking for the quick growing leafy surface plants? My fry Cichlids who used to hide in it, ended up also eating romain lettuce. No other generation again ate greens.
