Isn't this the "sort" of way Google Search is presenting answers to searches at the moment, with the "People also ask" dropdowns. The results at the moment look like a testing area for the development of SGE, in my crude understanding.

Tim, your video is absolutely amazing! 👏👏Your research is impeccable, and the insights you shared are truly outstanding. You accurately highlighted that the SGE product is not yet ready for public usage and seems to have been a hastily crafted response to ChatGPT. However, with valuable feedback from experts and reviewers like yourself, we can anticipate significant improvements and iterations in the SGE experience. What's even more significant is that this recent development compels us marketers to not only enhance our strategies on existing marketing channels but also intensify our efforts to adapt to the ever-changing landscape and discover innovative ways to engage our audience. Only time will tell if these efforts will directly or indirectly influence brands' preferences for SGE results.

It's crazy how SEO has been so static for so long and then.... 2023! Thanks for the comment :)

Thank you for another great video and insights as always Tim & Team! I noticed the Lori website was FULL of terrible, spammy adverts and it was super slow, with a mobile score of 3. The other 2 were around 35-40 and advert free. Maybe this could have been a factor as to why AI didn't choose it?
@ExposureNinja Жыл бұрын
Yes very possible, although that implies a different ranking signal for regular results than SGE which is contrary to what Google has said publicly

Outstanding work as always! Looks to me like Google has just made it even more difficult and costly for the SMEs to get exposure.
@ExposureNinja Жыл бұрын
Potentially... the question will be whether longer-tail searches can be targeted (like how we've had a lot of success helping SMEs dominate via featured snippets). For sure, this looks like 'winner takes most'

I guess the flaw in this AI giving answers without context is not a flaw, but a feature, why? Because it's the same flaw chatgpt has, it seems more like a move to keep people to switching from google to bing or chatgpt than to really make search better, but it's also what many users ask for.

Hey , I just watched your video and I must say that it was really informative and well-made. I was wondering if I could help you edit your highly engaging thumbnails that helps to grow your channel ?

Great review. At this point it seems to take AWAY from the user experience than add anything...it could even be annoying because some of those ai recommendations are not even clickable. They got a long way to go.

Did we ever identify reasons why the search information seems corroborated from websites that are different from the website links?
@ExposureNinja Жыл бұрын
No, and Google hasn't given a clear answer to this

Think you for this post Tim. What is the end game here? Don't you feel that Google is in a way hurting the websites that are working so hard on organic results or paid search traffic? Where is the balance? In your opinion, what do you feel businesses should do to drive traffic for conversion? Especially in the B2B space that depends highly on information traffic for the learning and consideration phases of the funnel. Looking forward to you thoughts.

Great questions. I think the question about how much Google is hurting the websites is a very good one - in fact it's THE question that defines the future of 'content for search' as a strategy. At the moment of course we don't know: 1) What the final version of SGE will look like 2) What the click through rate on 'corroborating' websites will be 3) How much the public will actually use SGE vs regular organic search There were some interesting anecdotes from Microsoft at the SMX event, saying that the early days of Bing Chat actually showed MORE clicks from their AI answers to websites (both from organic and paid) than 'old' Bing without the AI, and that because the average search query was 3X as long, the traffic quality was better. We're advising clients to invest in the sort of activities that will set them up well: - Digital PR (for links, authority and brand) - Coining your own terms - Continue producing excellent content and optimising it for search This is also the advice of both Microsoft and Google, who have advised businesses to continue with SEO 'as it has been' if they want to pick up visibility in new AI search. I don't think this is all bad at all - the winners will still win, they may just win larger if there are only 3 sites listed at the top of the page :)

AI works best when the prompt given is at its best. Do you think having a well-formed prompt can improve the quality of search results?
@ExposureNinja Жыл бұрын
IMO not as much as in ChatGPT. The SGE results seem a lot more 'search like' than LLM-like

Having that crypto is a "money" keyword, I hope 'metaverse' gets some sort of pass 😂😂 perhaps the Meta competition itself.. who knows..
