I got the tools from Amazon and started using it for my carpal tunnel in both hands. My tendonitis in one hand and now my knee for some minor aches. It works! Instantly saw and felt the difference.

Honestly this stuff really works. I tried it out on myself today and my chest and shoulders and I have to say that it really does help you when you're feeling sore and your body is really tense. My body looks torn up because a lot of red blood vessels are showing but oh my God it took away all that uncomfortable tightness in your muscles. All you need is a bottle of Vaseline and a spoon. 100% all thumbs up this is the best way to recover

It works great on tendonitis, tendonosis, for any kind of pain, anywhere in the body. Also, because it helps release toxins, it's great when you have bronchitus, or flu. Cupping and gua sha could also help you with any kind of virus. It helps you clear the lungs. I found this out from my Chinese doctor performing it on ME! I'm so thankful I found Chinese medicine.

blood flow in the musles are very effective pain relief. In Greece the old generations used rabing with bare hands and alcohol lotion, for causing blood flowing. For worser pain or hard colds they sucked blood with vacum water glass. I did this once because i had cold in my upper back and it was the most reliefing think i've ever gone. It is the fire cupping .

How does this compare to Swedish massage for enhancing blood flow in muscle tissue?
@SidekickTool
@SidekickTool 8 жыл бұрын
+fitmenover40tv I'm not the most familiar with swedish massages but from what I know of it, it's mostly compression whereas Gua Sha actually breaks up the adhesions, hence the redness when using it

They are very different therapies and the goals for treatment are not the same. Swedish is a relaxing massage that promotes blood flow and relaxation (and is what you would typically think of when receiving a vacation massage). It does not really affect fascial adhesions, which is what gua sha does. Gua sha can promote blood flow and muscle recovery but releasing fascia that is stuck to muscles and dehydrated. I know of college running teams that use it after running to help muscles recover faster for the next day.

Would gua sha be safe to do in my circumstances?

Hey! Muscle scraping is a form of Myofascial release. With regards to your concern about bruising I would recommend seeking the advice of a physical therapist,.I can tell you that our opinion is that muscle scraping shouldn't hurt and if you are causing bruising you are doing it too much.

It might, but i am a believer, now. The first time I had it done, I did not know what was being done at all. I went to a chiropractor because I was having some pain in my shoulder i could not shake. She said she had something she wanted to try but did not know how effective it would be. 1) It hurt like a mother 2) I did not expect it but it raised streaks and bruising all over the affected area, the red left the bruising took a few days. the pain was gone within about 3 hours and full range of motion returned. So first i would say that it is hard to plea placebo when I did not know what was being done or what the expectations were. 2) it would be hard to rule out placebo cause this aint know sugar pill; there is no way to fake rubbing the skin with a stone and creating that kind of pain or kinetic energy. 3) Placebos get a bad rap. Just because they aren't chemically linked does not eliminate causation. And if it ultimately heals, it heals whether it is through the mind or through a pill. So don't harsh my pain free buzz! try it by having a practitioner attempt it with you the next time you have a localized pain from over doing it, injury, or illness. I found this thread, because I have moved to a new town and am looking for someone in my new home. i have found very few people know about it.

@olivegoddess1
@olivegoddess1 5 жыл бұрын
Copied and pasted from another ignorant commentor below your comment: lol.....the ignorance. Oh well. I do this on so many of my patients. Clearly, you are unaware of the profound physical changes that occur with this method. Gua sha literally BREAKS UP TISSUE that is between the skin and muscle layer. The tool is harder than that of a finger, palm, or elbow, as in massage. You are pressing onto pathological scar tissue (adhesions) and scraping them, as if "running a comb through tangles". Imagine that. The bruises I've seen on people (I'm an acupuncturist who employs this method on most of my patients) who have severe chronic hypertonicity in their muscles is very dark. Many of my patients can't even handle the level of pressure they need until the 5th or 6th treatment, when blood and lymph flow has significantly restored. You are literally breaking/dissolving the tissue, and the petichiae that results is from the stagnanant blood and lymph that collects in the capillary beds, as a result of the pathological scar tissue, which is also a reflection of the poor circulation in the tissues underneath. It mobilizes an immune response, which is responsible for tissue repair, while strongly increasing blood and lymph circulation (because of the removal of pathological scar tissue). The effect is EXCEPTIONAL, and I've seen MAJOR progress in not only musculo-skeletal problems, such as injuries and chronic pain, but also psycho-social/emotional issues. When performing gua sha along the paraspinals, you are significantly enhancing or restoring the proper flow of lymph and blood along the regions where our spinal nerves come out of the vertebrae, and this has an immense effect on the healthy functioning of those nerves, and therefore the signaling between the spinal nerves and the brain, as well as the spinal nerves and the organs and tissues they innervate. There are well-respected and astute practitioners that are studying/researching gua sha for the treatment of organ disorders, such as liver failure for this reason. With all my patients, with each week of performing gua sha, there is increasingly less and less petichiae that forms, even when I apply the same pressure, and my patients also tend to squirm less (lol) which is proof that the tissue has repaired itself and is supple, with proper flow restored. I also like to call gua sha my "X-ray tool" because the petichiae reveals where the most stagnation is, including trigger points in muscles. You can feel the bumps underneath the tool where trigger points have formed, and the patient tends to whimper or make some sound, and those who have a higher pain tolerance say it feels like a "hurts so good". Do your research bro, this is a tool that is being employed by physical therapists, chiropractors, and MDs......in my humble opinion, it should remain within the scope of a practitioner of Traditional Oriental Medicine (I say "Oriental" because this system of medicine is not just Chinese, but originates, as far as we know, from East Asia. Although there is evidence that this system share a common origin with that of other ancient cultures from other continents (such as the Maya in Central America, who have a very similar system). Consider the context of this medicine and how the modern "scientific" explanations continue to support these ancient practices. Trust me.....the more you research how acupuncture works, the more it will blow your mind. The body is WAAAAAAAAAAAY more complex that you potentially realize.
@olivegoddess1
@olivegoddess1 5 жыл бұрын
There is quite a bit of research out there....lol.....placebo doesn't exist. Do you realize that placebo is also therapy? It is the power of the body to heal itself in ways not yet understood. Open your mind.

I'm as skeptical as they come, no religion, god, ghosts, any of that bullshit. I started going to physical therapy about a month ago for bad knee pain and they started doing this to my knee in addition to the usual exercises. It doesn't really feel like a message, it's not like it feels great or anything, but amazingly it actually helped. When the therapist started using it I thought I came to the wrong place lol last time I was at PT I started doing squats and when the therapist told me to go lower, I couldn't because of the pain. He brought me over and scraped the knee, amazingly I could squat lower without pain.
