I made like three separate presentations about Halloween in different schools and explained how Halloween was NOT a "satanic" celebration (while tying it in with DnD and how that is also not a satanic game) and I think I'm gonna have to present it for a fourth time because no matter what there's always gonna be that one person who's gonna say "yOu'Re cEleBraTinG saTaN's biRthDaY"- EDIT: I'm Christian myself and freaking love Halloween and don't think there's anything wrong with it myself

Funny story, one Halloween when my mom and dad were dating my mom bought my dad Bairín breac (halloween brack in Irish) and its just a game now to see who gets the slice with the ring. My mom made sure my dad got the slice with the ring (hint hint) but as soon as he found it he just started going on about how he hates the ring in the brack tradition and that someone could choke and it’s always cheap metal leaking guck into it, etc, etc. My mom kept that story for after they got married

It feels like a crime that you didn't even mention the origins of the jack-o'-lantern, specifically why it's called that. It's named after a trickster named Jack who bested the devil three times. On three separate occasions he managed to escape death and the devil's judgment by trapping the devil in a ring of salt the first time and in his pockets next to a crucifix in the second. The third time, however, he managed to catch the devil and say he would let him go if he was given eternal life. The devil agreed, and gave him an ember from hell itself, which he would have to carry if he wanted his immortality. So he took a turnip or lantern depending on the story, hollowed it out, and placed it inside, making it into a lantern. Hence the name, jack of the lantern.
