What is handmade? Let the people decide!

As goimagine continues down the path of giving our maker community ownership in the company we are working on governance issues. One hot topic is always around the definition of handmade. So, part of our shared-ownership journey will be to give our makers & artists a democratic voice in defining what's allowed on the platform and ensuring we stay a truly handmade for the future.

I think that if you put something together, then it is handmade even if you don’t make the components. As far as drop shipping…I think it’s fine as long as it’s your own design…like art.

Please don't allow drop shipping. Please don't allow pre-made drop shipping items. I left Etsy because of this.

❤ equipment can get expensive but drop shipping allows for a whole lot of opportunity for people to try and get by with things completely manufactured:-/

I don't see why those photographers can't still sell based on our current guidelines- they take the picture, have it printed, get it shipped to *their* house, then when it sells, send it to the buyer. Isn't that what we already have in place for people who design enamel pins but don't have the machines to make them? They still designed and created the piece, they just don't have hundreds of thousands to drop into the equipment to finish it off the way they want.
