I have always made it a point to take one of the new jobs through the MSQ. May end up maining it, maybe not, but it offers a level of freshness that older jobs don’t for obvious reasons. Until it drops, I can’t quite decide if I’ll be picking up Viper or Pictomancer but I am heavily leaning towards the latter. I like the concept, really like the cel-shaded effects, and tbh right now Viper looks a bit too familiar……. Still! Will wait and see. I am really looking forward to seeing what the cyberpunk city’s all about. Very intriguing.

Two things about the city. First, Facade doesn't just mean lie it also means the face of a building that points toward the street. Two, solution 9 is a reference to ffix. The main character, who Viper is based on, had an ability called solution 9.

Just as a heads up Yoshi P has stated in interviews that Vana’diel aka FFXI is not a shard of the Source. If anything I believe the fact that it’s called Echoes of Vana’diel is a deliberate call out to our Echo ability. I think that Vana’diel existed on the Source and is one of the earlier eras that we don’t have current knowledge on.

One of my favorite things about FFXIV is, it doesn't handcuff me. I play other games, but I'll always come back. New expansions are like a big family reunion.😁 I'll admit, I love when there's new FFXIV stuff to chew on, though. That Arcadion screenshot is gnawing on my mind. That's clearly meant to resemble an Ascian sigil in there, but I can't pinpoint which one. I remember when Lahabrea and Igeyorhm fused, so to did their sigils. It's possible that sigil, if it is one, is from a fusion of two Ascians.

I got something for you to wrap your head around... 1. @ 50:09 graphic says "In this region overflowing with Lightning energies, Thick thunderclouds blot the Sun, While streaks of pure Levin illuminate the land day and night" 2. @ 51:00 looks like street lamp things and @ 51:16 graphic shows what look like powerlines 3. @ 1:13:31 looks like inside a computer obviously and you noticed what looked like an Ascian Mask, which doesn't match any of the known 13 Ascian masks (could it be the mask of Azem?). This is my theory. This is a remnant of the Civilization described just before the Second Calamity, the Calamity of Lightning! Read Page 23 in the Encyclopedia Eorzea. A civilization that "gutted mountains and blackened the skies" presumably with their industry. They caused the Calamity of Lightning and were forced underground, where they focused on 'prayer' and learned the first 'magical incantations'!!! That's what I'm going with. Any thoughts?

The theories right now are that the high-tech screenshots combined with the cosmic exploration and raid theme are pointing to a hidden advanced civilization hiding itself with holograms like Esthar (FF8) was doing. It explains everything and I'm all for it.

I like the idea of this being one of Azem's "solutions" to the final days, or maybe a former incarnation of Azem from the 2nd Astral Era helping to prevent the 2nd Umbral Calamity (The calamity of Lightning/Levin that came with rejoining the Twelfth shard). one unique aspect of FF14 as an mmo is that there are no retention systems that forces you to stay. This is the goal of the devs and isn't new information but some had a difficult time coming to terms with this. That is a positive to some and a negative to others but overall i think the general idea has gotten better within the community. No one should question your love for FF14 anyways so no need for the disclaimer. You got a tattoo sleeve dedicated to azems journey afterall. As yoship states, take breaks. Play other games like WoW and when the time comes for the next expansion in ff14. Come back.

Solution 9 is a limit break ability that the main character of FF9, Zidane used. Additionally, some concept art of that zone having proto-Eorzean text was translated and "Soul Supply" was one. Another reference to FF9 as well since souls played a big part in Zidane's story.

I looked at the new map for a while and thought up a theory. Compare Tural, specifically the connection of Xak and Yok Tural, with our world. Tuliyollal is effectively in Colombia or Venezuela, with Urqopacha being Peru. Shaaloani is clearly designed around Texas and Mexico. So then, this world is missing our equivalent of much of Central America. Everything from Panama through the southernmost past of Mexico is replaced with that giant gash. And that got me thinking... What if that gash isn't just a tear or crack, but a FOLD? Like if someone took a piece of paper with Xak Tural and Yok Tural on it and a "central" Tural in the middle, and folded it around the center, bringing north and south together while sinking the middle? Might be a stretch since the shape of the gash really is more a crack than a clean fold, but worth thinking of. Sounds like a good place for a fabled golden city to be hidden, too, since I'm betting Solution Nine is NOT our golden city.

Very early theory about Solution Nine is that it may be related to the Second Umbral Calamity and the Twelfth Shard. Perhaps Solutions One to Eight revolved around stopping their Flood of Thunder, and when that failed, Solution Nine was to find a method to preserve their people in the resulting rejoining, transporting their last city into Eitherys. Hence the abundance of lightning in the surrounding area. Would be a very interesting parallel to Golbez in the post-Endwalker story, who tried to do something similar with the Thirteenth so that his people could die. Meanwhile the theoretical Twelfth would instead try to have their people live. There's also some interesting ideas revolving around FF9, a certain tree and a certain world that I'll refrain from going into since Pyro might not have played it yet, but those seem like potential plot threads for FF14

As far as Pictomancer goes, it's hardly the first job in FFXIV to have hints of "creation magic" to it. Current people aren't really capable of PURE creation magics currently but obviously that innate ability wasn't completely lost due to the sundering but instead was just greatly weakened. This is why most of the things that the current peoples of Eitherys create purely out of aether are not permanent but instead just brief flickers of that long lost potency. I do have a theory, however, that the paint that Pictomancers use is actually liquified aether crystals like what we saw back in 5.4 in the Matoya's Relict dungeon. The various colors stood out to me immediately as matching that colorful imagery of that part of the dungeon paired with the fact that each color seems to correspond to a specific elemental attack. It's also likely that you need to use various elemental attacks to build up to that masterpiece painting that they eluded to which would likely be a combination of those various colors that you've then mixed on the palette. In that sense, it would be a combination idea of Ninja's mudras paired with Red Mage's idea of mixing black and white magic to create Red Magic. Honestly, the more I sit and think about Pictomancer the more excited I am about the possibilities of the job and also just the idea of it having a completely different and unique aesthetic that will likely spice up combat quite a bit.

Wow this expansion is looking way different than I thought. I really like the clash of futuristic tech above adobe wild west and steam trains. I think Pyro missed it but they mentioned the area is flowing with electricity and I think the purple coloring of the city and power lines is made from thunder elemental crystal. I assume that this civilization discovered electricity early on due to the area being a hotbed of thunder element and developed high tech beyond the rest of the world. The big question then is why does the rest of the world not know about it and who are the people that live there? I'm only about half way through the video but I had to get those thoughts out.

I am mainly an FFXIV player, and have been with the game since the launch of 1.0. I have always taken breaks. The game is designed for us to take breaks. For the past 3 years, I have spent a lot of time in WoW as well (another game I have played since launch, but the breaks I have taken in that game have been much, much longer). Both games are similar, but both are very different. So, when taking breaks in FFXIV, I play WoW (and other games, or watch TV shows / read books). So, don't feel bad or apologize for taking a break from FFXIV, that is what Yoshi-P expects you to do, and it is better to take breaks than burn out from a game. Burning out from a game is generally a bad feeling, so don't need anyone doing that.

Oooooh loving Pictomancer and a potentially hotter G'raha with the graphical update. LOL Krile wearing the clover earrings in the full trailer seems very lore heavy and quite excited to see how her story unfolds. Solution Nine gives that vibes for hm...I dunno? FF9 reference to Zidane as it is one of his Trance abilities, which is the limit break for that FF iteration. May relate to 2 worlds connected to each other (Gaia and Terra?). Grasping at straws but if I see something like a reference to Iifa tree there or something along that line, oh dear. Eliminator looks like it could go Gestalt Drive ala FF13, and Arcadion might be a holographic or a simulation-type raid series and we'll be battling data lifeforms? Only one way to know so maybe let's wait until PLL or Dawntrail goes live XD Can't wait for the expansion to drop.

What class was dual wielding the swords? I don't remember a DW Swords class...am I just having a lapse in memory?

Viper dual weilds swords (ffxiv original job). Ninja also technically dual weilds but daggers. Monk dual weilds fists.
