Students have been wearing traditional Middle Eastern head coverings called keffiyehs while chanting slogans like "Death to America," "Death to Israel," "From the river to the sea, Palestine will be free," and calling for an Intifada or uprising.
Should these students be allowed to engage in such protests while wearing traditional garments associated with warfare and chanting calls for violence?

"Free Speech" does NOT include inciting a riot. When people chant and shout, "Death to - - - - - ", that is inciting violence, which is riotous behavior. "Free Speech" does NOT include denying the rights of others to access the resources that they have a right to, such as University Libraries, classrooms, and other educational services. "Free Speech" does NOT include occupying property that they do not have a legal right to occupy, such as creating encampments and "protest zones" that are exclusive to the occupiers; that is trespassing. All is illegal behavior, and those guilty of it should be arrested. BUT, the root cause of these problems is NOT this behavior in and of itself; that lies in the persons that SHOULD have been enforcing the laws in the first place!

In the US, shouting "Death to {insert country name here}" is protected by the first amendment, unless it is both “directed to inciting or producing imminent lawless action and is likely to incite or produce such action”. Also, unlike what Jack Hibbs claims, US citizens don't lose their 1st amendment rights for not agreeing with the Constitution. "Just because you were born here, doesn't mean you're an American." - Jack Hibbs According to the Constitution, it does mean you're an American. You don't have to choose the Constitution as your governing document for it to cover you.
