I had no idea they had actually made so much scientific reason behind hyperspace! This kind of stuff is the best nerd info. Great video 😊👏

I like how in the eu thrawn would use interdictors to precisely pull his own ships out of hyperspace for surprise attacks.

Did not know about some of this. But I did hear that the Wookies knew of hundreds of secret parsecs and routes. And only passed the secrets to other Wookies or members Wookies thought of as family. And the Empire thought this to be a legend.

From what i've heard, Had Solo had removed the specially integrated system, that makes the ship jump out of hyperspace, from Falcon himself, so he can do these manovers.

What I'd like to know is what the rating on Hyperdrives means in realation to Hyperspace. I had thought it meant speed, the lower the number the faster the ship could travel through Hyperspace. Yet, that theory doesn't hold water. If it did then a fleet of ships would arrive in system in waves; all the .5's first followed quickly by the .75's, the 1's, etc. Unless there is someway for ships to share a jump point and then they would all travel at the same speed as the lead ship...right?? 🤔
@hyperspacedatabase2 жыл бұрын
It kind of means speed, yes. From what I could find, a hyperdrive rating is a multiplier on the base time it takes for a ship to get to a destination. 0.5=half the time, 2.0=twice as long. Yeah, that would be my theory. Many ships in a fleet shared coordinates and launch times, so in order for all ships to arrive at the same time when they jumped nearly at the same time, they'd have to travel at roughly matched speeds through Hyperspace. Not a scientific answer, but that is my theory based on what I've read.

Fleet just limits itself to the slowest vessel to keep formation, same as realspace, or real life navies.
@earlware43222 жыл бұрын
@@hyperspacedatabase Thanks for that info! I have had a really hard time understanding how Hyperdrive ratings related to travel time. I could only figure that they shared jump gates or a fleet would assembe at a location close by the final destination and then jumped together.

Can you provide a source for this? I'm not doubting you, I would just like to look into it further myself because this is the only time I have ever heard of Realspace and Subspace being interchangeable. Usually, it's hyperspace and subspace that are semi-interchangeable in that a ship travels in a layer between realspace and subspace, which would help to account for the whole "mass shadow" thing since subspace communications don't seem to be affected by them in any sci-fi. I just want the source for my own research, because I'm a writer and trying to come up with a FTL travel and communication system that's not already in use by another sci-fi universe which means knowing what else is out there to avoid stepping on any toes lol.

Nice! I usually start at the Star Wars wikipedia, Wookieepedia, and then I follow the sources listed there back to do more proper research. I'd start there and work backwards down the rabbit holes.

@@hyperspacedatabase Quite a bit of this (in fact, a lot of the still-canon facts like species names) was established in the original Star Wars roleplaying game by West End Games.

Hyperdrive is just hyperjet engine. Electromechanical jet engine. With quadrilio times moe thrust than boeing airplanes. Even quadrilion times more thrusts and power and efficiency than Apollo style rockets. Just like floppy disk vs 1 TB microsd card analogy. Essentialy is the same tech but quadrilion times more at lower mass factor and size. Thats why ships in star wars look and act like airplanes. More thrust. Ordiniary airplane cant get in deep cosmos. What about quadrilion times more thrust and efficiency and ship weights as much as truck?
