I started playing guitar around 5 months ago, and had my heart set on a purple Schecter for my first electric. My friend who inspired me to pick up the guitar in the first place told me no - don’t spend so much on your first guitar, so together we looked at what was available. Purple and orange have always been my colours, so I knew the guitar had to be purple, that was my only requirement. We found the purple 60’s vibes squires you guys had, and as soon as I saw it, I fell in love. Since getting it, I’ve had the pickguard swapped out for a psychadelic purple/orange custom one, and even though it’s my first guitar, I hear what you’re saying about having a guitar that you connect with. It feels like it could only be my guitar, and because of that I’m inspired every day to pick it up and play it. So, thankyou, Pete, for being the reason why I have my perfect purple guitar - even though I have notoriously bad GAS, I haven’t had any inclination to get anything else, how can you improve on perfection?

Telecasters can be so underrated, there's something special about a great Tele the way it will ring when played acoustically, the feel of the neck and just a pure slab of ash which will absorb and spread out those vibes evenly and rounded. Even Les Paul diehards if you play enough Tele's you will find one that will be hard to walk away from then you will know! Great video as always. 😊

Lee and Pete sre the heart and sole of Andertons. My 2003 blond Telecaster Affinity is my soul in music. Over 200 recordings so far. I wore out the frets twice. Picked up a Fender licenced Might Mite tele neck. Exactly the same neck and frets. I'll need a re-fret soon. I looked at 3 Fenders that day in 2003. They just could not match the Squire for bold Tele sound. My other 50+ guitars are terrific, but this tele just speaks. Thanks for the love story. And thank Lee for all of us! 🧡

When the video announcing the arrival of the Classic Vibe Purple Teles came out, I felt obliged to do a 'What, no lefties' comment (it's at the top of the comments) Imagine my surprise when I had a reply!!!! 😳 Even more that you'd ordered a stack of lefties. I preordered (then cancelled when they were late, but knew I'd end up getting one, if only to support Andertons for doing something for lefties) It came yesterday, very cool, good weight, very pleased. Enjoyable video. I'm sure a lot of people have a story with their favourite guitar. Mine is also a custom shop '50s telecaster with a nocaster in the bridge and twisted tele in the neck, not that I knew that when I bought it. I went to Peach Guitars in November 2009 to try out some teles. I already had a 1982 Japanese Squier JV, but it didn't really sound like the tele sound I like from my favourite Tele players. I wanted a butterscotch blonde 'nocaster', but tried that one and a few others. The best one by far was a Copper '52 Tele with '56 U shaped neck. The Broadcaster neck was too round and this one was perfect. It sounded amazing, was effortless to play and was very light (6.5lb) and was the cheapest custom shop Tele in the shop. I neither had the intention nor the money to buy a guitar when I went into the shop (especially having bought a custom shop Strat the month before) but I couldn't leave without it and put it on the credit card! I still have it and it's still my go to guitar for recording. Like Pete's, it is a relic and also like Pete, I bought it for how it played, not how it looks. A relic is just another finish option. After years of gigging, it's looking a lot more worn, but still plays great.

I'm a purple guy. I have a purple Gretsch Brian Setzer Hot Rod 6120. It's a spectacular guitar. I also own tons of other purple shiz. Purple is the best.

I got mine Pete. Someone brought me a classic vibe 69 telecaster for repair, there was no sound so I played it acoustically for a couple of days before fixing it and couldn't put it down. I eventually talked the guy into selling it to me and its still my no1 .

Pete, had a similar experience. My bass player kept telling me I should put down the hard tail strat and play a tele. Went into a store and picked up a random MIM standard cream color with a maple neck. Love at first hold. did not plug it in or tune it just held it like a baby. 2 different sales guys tried to take it from me to ring it up - and I was told I growled at them ( I am a large person, they backed off) the third salesman came up slowly and asked if he could just take the tag. I could not speak but let him. 25 years later and with many mods it is still my favorite guitar and my voice.

Spot on about where a relicked guitar comes in handy is that it's been "pre-disastered". One does play differently when you're trying to keep it pristine. I had an acquaintance who worked in the field with his truck. He finally got a new truck and the first thing he did was take a sledgehammer and put a dent in the box. "Now I ain't gotta worry about it. It's done already."

Pete’s one of the biggest John Mayer fan. He even wears the HODINKEE Casio John Mayer G-Shock. You go man.
