He gives one's life back to the persons hand.. But we people are so lazy and numb to face the reality. Each day I understand K more I realize more that I'm stuck in the mud. My life is still in the mud but I'm at least fully aware the reality of that I'm stuck in the mud. Instead of hypnotizing myself with illusions, delusions, I'm totally focused on being more and more aware of the mud my life is in. It's such a feeling that, even if I'm not able to solve all my problems I would prefer to die in the mud - which I'm getting more and more aware - instead of delusing myself with stories and beliefs of society...

Each human has different capacities and proficiencies... causing some to have deeper insight into the human condition...in that way having certain individuals to lead others into deeper mental and spiritual realizations...in that way I would say Krishnamurti goes about leading in the proper way... teaching individuals to discover their own answer... while I do understand his disagreement with leaders in that many spiritual leaders don't lead to a deeper understanding of the self through self-awareness

I do not think the speaker answered the question . I love what he said but it still didn’t answer the question. The question was why do humans follow leaders ? His answer was do not follow . Great answer but still not for the question . Humans follow because it is in our biology to follow . The society also teaches us to follow . We are born into families with leaders , churches with leaders , countries with leaders therefore we learn to follow before we learn to walk . Even at the cellular level there is leadership. The pituitary gland tells other glands what hormones to secrete . The gorillas have the silver back, the lions have the pride leader , ants and bees have Queens , have pack leader etc . It is biological to lead therefore it is to follow . Humans even follow computers and AI . With that said , I still think we should follow with great attention, so , the leaders do not transfer their conflicts to us .

With all due respects to the speaker, can we expect a school or college-going student to learn the syllabus or knowledge all by himself/herself without the help of a teacher? It is not that the teacher is conditioning the student, but is helping him or her develop a mind that is capable of thinking and applying things correct to draw the results. I think the same is the case with a spiritually nascent man, who needs help in setting his/her mind right to observe the inner power and consciousness. Having said that I am totally against indoctrination and mental conditioning that can never set us free. But a help is needed to a rather perplexed human, to solve the riddle of complexities and think the right way to reach the ultimate destination called 'freedom'. So far I know, we have seen numerous people, having achieved clarity over life, have authored many texts, with the aim of showing confused people, a right path and nothing more than that. If someone says, he is the one and only and people should surrender to him or be subservient to him, I don't think he is the right man. To me, a guru is someone who helps us find the right path, travelling in which, at some point of time in future, there shall be no difference between the teacher and the taught. I expect someone at J Krishnamurti foundation to correct me if I am wrong.

If war worked to bring peace, it would have worked a thousand years ago. So it is the same with the guru. If they truly helped man to attain a level of internal harmony, they would have helped since antiquity. But they are smart enough to know they would put themselves out of business! On a serious note though, who can truly lead you through the gate of liberation? No one but yourself.

People love to follow and imitate. Sheep and parrots! Why follow when the treasure of wisdom is hidden within you, in your experiences. The reason people follow is because they are still in ignorance of the fact that the guide is within. I would disagree with Krishnamurti only on the remark that meditation cannot clear the confusion. I am sure that it is semantics, our understanding of what meditation is. I personally meditated my way through my confusion. It is the means by which we become clear. So, what do I mean when I say meditation? Meditation is introspection in silence, in a still mind. This leads to insights, and sometimes they arise spontaneously, and epiphanies. So, meditation is essentially a state of mind that is conducive to the arising of awareness. I am sure Krishnamurti is using the term meditation differently. Hence why he concludes that meditation can be useful post-clarity, but is a hindrance when one is still in confusion. The way to Oz is within, and meditation, introspection, as a way of life, ensures that you don't depart from the yellow brick road. The woeful reality is that most of the planet, are disconnected from their inner guidance, thus depend upon and are easily led by others.

Nancy Gray, when we’re afraid, we want to end it, period. If we trust someone because they are a recognized authority, and they promise to save us and end the fear, we run to them and do what they say. When we don’t understand fear, it’s the logical thing to do.

Broadly speaking, not just ideologies you may only be able to go so far as Do It Yourself without the benefit of a specialist; for examples, a gas boiler engineer, or a mechanic. However, you have to be careful someone isn't taking advantage of your lack of knowledge to overcharge you, or meddle to create more expense.
