One of the reasons there's no extreme bullying in the Philippines is because it reflects badly on the parents. People usually says "The kid(bully) must not have been raised right by the parents". So parents often discusses such things to their kids, and also there's a subject called Values Education that focuses on good moral and conduct. Also Filipinos have always been respectful specially to older people. So it was such a shock for me when the Korean said kids hit adults for telling them off. That was so sad.
@rosaaan Жыл бұрын
I think some other reasons is that the bully could also get school detention, or do some community or school service, or they get expelled to an extent depending on how bad they did. First the school will call the parents to meet with the guidance counselor or the school principal to discuss how they are going to handle it. And I'm telling you, most parents will not be happy when that happens. If you have a history or get involved in a bullying, it will leave a negative impact on your image as a student. Students will talk about you and not want to be your friends. Even the teachers will not like you and will see you as a bad student forever unless you change completely to a good student. It could also impact your marks/grades. It will be a lot for the bully in most decent schools, public or private. So yeah nobody wants that. I'm a 90's kid and I am speaking from what I experienced or saw around me (I never bullied anyone or got bullied). I have siblings who are still in elementary school and high school so I know it's still pretty much the same today. Though before I heard there were gangs or fraternity fights but you'll be fine if you stay away from them and not get involved.

Yes there are dedicated badminton courts everywhere, some are free some are paid service, but rarely become a school facility. Reading the comments here by Filipinos made me realized too that bullying in the Philippines is not that extreme, at least do not lead to a lot of physical bullying. My bully back in high school was reported by some of my classmates to the teacher, and he immediately was shamed in front of the senior class by that teacher. He eventually was suspended for some time. He was being physical with me though, i had physical bruises, but that's just because I get visible bruises easily even when hit very softly. But to me, it was not THAT kind of bullying, because I was also fighting back verbally. I also agree that there is a collective effort by the class or school to ostracize the bully and really exclude them from the community until they learn their lesson.

In the Philippines, friends bully each other. Kids bite each other, stab each with pens and then also walk home together. Rich kids don't normally go to the same school as the poorer kids, so no one is above you or below you. One kid calls the other "Patay gutom'!", the other answers with "Ikaw nga kumakain ng ibon eh!" They're just the same so. The one with the more savage clapback wins. If kids can talk back to their parents and fight with their siblings at home, they're brave enough to fight back to kids at school. We are used to having nicknames based on our physical appearances even at home, that mocking our flaws no longer hurt. In my opinion, Filipino kids are the mentally stronger Asian kids because we don't deal with much pressure in school and from our parents. Most kids excel in school by their own will. Most parents are fine with just passing grades.

The stabbing of pens! lol in first grade I unintentionally poked the back of the hand of a girl with the tip of my pencil. Our teacher went out for a while. This kid took my money for no reason. We were writing something that time so I was holding a pencil. I tried to get it back from her hand but she's strong! Out of frustration my pencil ended up hurting her lol and later it bled a little. Luckily it wasn't deep. She then gave me back my money and cried of what happened to her hand. The teacher came and talked to us. I explained what happened and my classmate also said the truth while crying. The teacher called her mom that afternoon right before we go home, did not called my parents. I know I'm not in trouble though I felt sorry she got hurt. Her mom came and was really mad at me. When the teacher turned her back on us after talking, we went outside ready to go home then her mom said I'm a bad kid and how dare me hurt her child. Not sorry even the slightest for what her daughter did. She was like scolding me but not too loud so the teacher don't hear. I felt really bad I wished the teacher called my mom too. I hate to say this but really, some bullies are products of what adults in their life teach them.

If one student was bullied, his friends would retaliated by attacking the bullying group very hard in a group. In fact, that's the reason why tawuran (gang fighting) became so prominent. I was so surprised upon hearing the severity of bullying in Korea. In the Philippines, the most extreme type of bullying is perhaps just name calling or teasing. Of course, physical fights occur but this is very seldom. Schools have very strict imposition of “Anti-bullying” policy so students don’t do extreme things to bully someone. Bullying in the Philippines has its peculiarities. While we do encounter bullies, there is an interesting dynamic where, despite the teasing and conflicts, friendships often persist, at least based on my experience. Indeed, I faced teasing, but I would respond with witty comebacks, leading to shared laughter among us all. In the Philippines, we say "Ang pikon, laging talo." It could mean, "The easily angered always loses". It conveys the idea that individuals who are quick to get upset or angered often find themselves in a disadvantageous position or experience negative outcomes. Hence, we were taught at a young age to either fight back or maintain our composure. It is also why most of society is not fond of snowflakes. It's worth noting that we don't typically label rowdy students as bullies, as their behavior is not consistently problematic. Additionally, physical bullying is not prevalent in the Philippines. Another aspect worth mentioning is the vibrant club culture in the country. Personally, I had the privilege of being the president of our theater arts club during my high school years. It was a delightful experience as we created and performed funny skits for various school programs. Those were truly cherished memories that I often look back on fondly.

It's sad that bullying became normal in Korea. I agree with ate Ph, in Philippines bullies are not that common because if you're a bully you automatically become the class' loser., And you don't want that image. It's also rare for bullies to get physical because Pinoy kids usually fights back they won't let you just beat them. Growing up my classmates teased me a lot, calling me "bombay" or "owl" because I have big eyes, but adults always tell me back then that I just look exotic 😂 so those teasing doesn't really get to me. Idk in other province but in mine if you bully someone no one will want you in their group and you don't want that.

I was bullied back then in elementary due to the fact that I can't take a joke (like my head being too big for my body, stuttering, and many more) and I was already depressed and I always felt that I'm left out. Like here in the Philippines, most bullying are verbal and those physical fights are not that severe. I always thought that those bullying in Korean webtoons were just exaggerated for the plot until I saw this video. This made me realize that despite the fact that the Philippines' education system has so many flaws, it had done a great job in preventing those drama-level bullying cases from becoming extremely common (I'd say 90% of the time). Like if those cases in Indonesia, Thailand, and Korea happens here, it'll literally be shown in the news and immediately catch the attention of the local government. I would still consider my experiences as bullying but I'm thankful that its not as severe as the other countries.

regarding bullying at school. students in Indonesia are somewhat different from Korea, where Indonesian students never bully 1 or 2 people who are considered weak. very rare cases of physical violence, most often only cases of bullying by way of humiliation. they will not bully students who are still in the same class or the same school. In every junior and senior high school in Indonesia, there must be a school gang. even in one school there are several gangs, but never hostile, because it's still one school. it's a different story if you meet "enemies" from other schools. usually after school they will meet at the designated place and carry out brawls. In the 1980s and 1990s, students who had brawls could still be called men, fighting with their bare hands and never carrying weapons or committing beatings. different from the 2000s generation, they fought with sharp weapons such as: machetes, sickles, knives, motorbike/bike gears which were modified into pendulums. even to the extent that there are students who died killed. but now, thanks to online motorcycle taxi riders, the police's work is somewhat helped. because online motorcycle taxis are members of a large community, hundreds of thousands of members. So if there is a fight between schools, the online motorcycle taxi riders at the forefront stop it before the police arrive. even online motorbike taxis have been reported against organized mafia / thug associations.

Like athletes will have perfect scores especially if they win for the school, but academic students and teachers filed a complaint because it teaches the students to be lazy and just focus on sports. So, what we do is no exam but we take the highest score in that class. As an athlete/acad student it's a shame to do that because if you're in the top of the class, you don't get the respect from the entire top 10. You have to make sure that you don't miss assignments and projects.
@Classy.prettysavage72 жыл бұрын
Agree. I also do extra curricular activity, in my case, I was my school's representative in Journalism in my high school years, I feel so guilty getting scores that I did not work for. I feel so bad for the student who got the highest score and I also get the same score like her without even working hard for it like she do. So sometimes if I don't have training sessions, I talk to my teachers and convinced them to let me take the exam even though the principal already told them to exempt me to all quizzes and exams. I think they do this because if the school won many competitions from their students athletes, representatives, etc., they will earn school recognition from Department of Education (DepEd), like I mean, more recognition means they can ask for more school budget 😂 P.s: I just noticed you also have Jennie from Blackpink as your profile. In the Philippines, phyisical bullying rarely happens. Everybody is well aware and are taught the history, and Filipinos are always against oppressors because they understand how oppressors made the country miserable and poor, and that translates to the people's mentality so they shame anyone who tries to physically bully someone as an oppressor. And like the revolutionaries, it's ingrained for Filipinos to always stand up for themselves, so the bullying doesn't happen because of that.

*Indonesia* from my experience and around me 🌼 *Uniform* We have too many school uniform 😭 Everyday we use different uniform. 1. OSIS Uniform (Osis = Student organization) - Elementary School : White & Red - Middle School : White & Blue - High School : White & Grey 2. Special Uniform Like Korea, Each school have different color and style for Identity/Special School Uniform 3. Batik Uniform Batik is Traditional pattern from Indonesia. Each region have different pattern. 4. Scout Uniform (Brown Uniform) 5. P.E Uniform 6. Jas Lab (every department have their own Jas Lab) 7. Almamater Each school have their own Suit for special occasion. 8. All White : For Flag Ceremony every Monday Morning. 9. Traditional Cloth Student have to wear Traditional Outfit every week and for every traditional/national day. Like Kebaya Jawa, Kebaya Bali, Baju Kurung, Ulos, etc (This is become hot topic because traditional cloth become new rules for uniform in this year. Because years ago, student use traditional cloth only for national day like education day, teacher day, etc you can find it on every news platform and every social media) So when do we use it 1. Monday - Tuesday: Osis uniform 2. Wednesday: Special Uniform 3. Thursday: Batik Uniform 4. Friday: Scout uniform 5. Saturday: Scout uniform 6. Saturday: Traditional Clothing (Each week or month) 🌼 School Lunch We have buy in canteen/food court. There are so many food vendor in school. From my experience, Variety of food you can find : - Rice : Nasi Goreng, Nasi Kuning, Nasi Pecel, Nasi Campur - Noodle : Mie goreng, Bihun goreng, Mie ayam (chicken noodle), Instan noodle (Indomie etc), Cup noodle (Pop mie etc) - Bakso - Gorengan (Fried everything) - Snack (Traditional snack, Modern cake, Bread, Sandwich, etc) - Beverage : Ice tea, coffee, fruit juice etc Actually student can selling food/drink in school 🤣 There are many ways to make money. I am selling cake too in class, brownies, cookies, traditional cake, and gorengan. 🌼 Extra-curriculer The most popular - Soccer (bcs there is a competition) - Basketball (DBL school competition) - Paskibraka (Idk how to translate in English. Student will compete in their own school to become paskibra in school, in region level and the highest national level, so they can join in flag ceremony with president. - Music and Dance club - Silat is popular too 🌼 School Problem There are bullying but not like Kdrama. Here the big problem is Tawuran (fight with other school gang). They use everything as weapon. And they don't afraid of everything 😌

Bullying is just not tolerated in the Philippines. If one is being bullied, he can run to a teacher and report it , that is if a classmate hasn't done it yet. There is no stigma to reporting bullying. There is no case of suffering bullying alone like a martyr and not telling anyone. You tell it to a friend, you tell it to ateacher, you tell it to your siblings...you tell it to your parents. The stigma will be on the bully as people find out about what his bullying and he will be ostracized. There is not much case of bullying as filipinos are hardwired from childhood to get along with others.

The teachers, school & parents actually take actions when there's bullying happening in school in the Philippines. Also, almost no one really let other people bully them, we fight back most of the time, and bullies are always condemned to the point where we shame them & no one pays attention to them because we believe that they're just attention seekers. It only gets physical when 2 students involved are actually giving in on the fight. Students are afraid of elders still because we would get beating lol, elders don't give a shit, when you do wrong and disrespect them, they forgot they're teachers sometimes.

In my experience, bullying in the Philippines is less severe due to strict rules implemented to schools. The thing is when you are a bully (can be only applied to just my experience) you’ll have a “bad reputation” and it will spread like wildfire althrough out the whole campus. That will result for students to avoid the bully and even fight back the bullies thru social media/online which will make the bully feel inferior. That’s where the cyberbullying takes place. And yes, cancel culture is already present way back before thats why the bullies will surely be known for a bad reputation. (Tho it may just only apply to my experience).

Coming from an all girls private PH school, bullying are mostly verbal and psychological. But it does not persist for a long time because of.. "open forum". 🤣 (ahh good old days) Lmao parties involved in arguments try to talk it out themselves. Most of the time issue gets resolved but oftentimes it adds more fuel to the fire. Students tend to tell their parents that theyre being bullied in school and when parents complain they are addressed immediately. In addition, after working several years outside of PH, I noticed a lot of Filipinos are being labeled as thin skinned or onion skinned meaning we cry easily. It is true - however Filipinos working abroad are used to being empathized by the people around them. This video and the comments on it made me realize that it's about the Filipino culture. What is shocking to me nowadays is the cancel culture. Is it because young Filipinos think there won't be repercussions? Or are they being naive? The uniforms in the Philippines for highschoolers the difference will be the ID lace to identify what year you are - green for freshmen, yellow for sophomores, red for junior, then blue for seniors. For gradeschoolers in the Philippines (at least in public schools), you have a tray of junk food that are supposed to be healthy like mamon, bread pan, pillows, biscuits, then another tray for "soup" like lugaw, champorado or sopas. Then by the time you're in high school you can go to the canteen to buy what you want to eat - silogs, soup, candies, siomai, french fries, etc. As for the bullying in the Philippines depending on what "section" you are... if you're in higher sections it's more talk & yes, cyberbullying... but when you're in lower sections there are gangs. I was the target of minor teasing and name-calling back in elementary and high school but it never crossed the line into actual bullying. In the Philippines, schools teach students young about moral values and how one ought to treat others with kindness. So even if someone starts bullying you, more likely than not, one or more other classmates will stand up for you. Even my biggest antagonizer back in my elementary days stopped teasing me once I put my foot down and told 'em what they were doing was mean. We've been close friends ever since lol. There's a risk that comes to being a bully in the Philippines, I think. Physical violence isn't common because schools are so strict about anti-bullying but god help you if you earn the ire of your class or student body for bullying others. They won't bully you back outright but things like being ignored, excluded, scolded and ostracized does happen. The students themselves shame bullies, ruin their reputation. If a bully repents and tries to be a better person though, I've witnessed students forgive and welcome them back with open arms. A bully will always be bullied back. It's just not worth it. If you treat others badly, you are regarded with disdain, and that ruined reputation can follow you through your whole school life. I was honestly shocked to hear how bad it can get in the other countries in regards to bullying and disrespecting elders. Hitting the elderly for being scolded? Disrespecting teachers? Hearing that evoked a visceral feeling in my chest. I've never in my life seen any student disrespect a teacher in my school. And usually, in the rare cases they do, it's usually warranted (i.e. the teacher themself is a bully; being unfair to their students). The educational system in the Philippines may be littered with many glaring flaws and shortcomings but I'm happy to know that, for the most part, bullying has never been that big of an issue.

Here in the philippines, in my school, it is very rare to see physical bullying, and also rare but not as rare to see verbal bullying that isnt a joke. Its very common though to see friends teasing and name-calling (such as bayot, yes im in visayas) their friends, although they would take it a joke but you would not see friends doing that near the teacher or formators, id say the most common act of bullying Ive seen would be tsismiss (also known as gossiping) but it is often controlled as the students know this behavior is not tolerated in the school. Teasing eachother as a joke though is something extremely common in my school

This made me realize how serious bullying in south korea. Its not a simple bullying anymore when a student choose to end his/her life. I thought its only in Kdrama,

Bullying in the Philippines is more like a joke i mean they just call you names, tease you a bit but not extreme like they will hurt you cause they're still scared to be punished if things go physical wow... You better go hide coz the parents of the. Bullied students will definitely come at you like a truck.. i notice here we were raised to fight back haha. Bullying is not tolerated here also if you bully someone and a classmate will saw it they will come at you and be ready to go to the principal's office.

Based on my experience and observation when I was in high school, what we ate in the morning, we just packed and bring it to school for lunch and we will just swap it with our classmates' dishes hahaha. Comment if you had tried swapping your lunch with another classmate's lunch hehehe😁😆

Bullying in the Philippines is common but not physical bullying.. there's a student in my town that commit " unalive "because the student was bullied by the entire classroom, even the teacher. The news about this student reach to the local media and the police still investigating the incident.

Bullying is not common in the Philippines. We treasure friendships, one for all, all for one. cutting classes sama sama. However, we love making jokes that sometimes can be offensive to some..

Bullying does happen in the Philippines, but in my case, I kind of witnessed it. My older sister used to be bullied maybe when she's in 4th grade. There are these two girls who would make fun of her and sometimes they take her allowance then one day, the girls were talking behind my sister's back while walking home from school, making fun of her, but they didn't know my sister was there and that's when she snapped and kicked one of them. I remember seeing my sister being prevented by some of our schoolmates and the girl she kicked was crying while saying sorry. From then on, my sister kind of had that 'scary' reputation among the neighbourhood kids. I didn't know these all happened until I witnessed that fight. Those girls were also our neighbours, just a few houses away from us. I grew up in the province so I have no idea how common it is in the city, but I rarely see those kind of news on TV.

I remember when I was in middle school I heard some news about highschool gangs fight, but now days it's not that common anymore. It was really bad specially in big city like Jakarta but I lived in country side with viewer school so there's noot much happen here. The type of bully in school I came across usually do verbal attacks but our school a very strict school so not much happen.

I agree with the ph one when it comes to bullying. Atleast in my own experience. I cant remember all the details but, when i was in elementary i was bullied by my 3 (ex)childood friends, they were beating me up and literally chased me all over the school and i managed to hold out on my own and beat them back(to this day i still dont know the reason why). And when the teachers knew about it they were shamed and punished in front of the class by having to stand in front while bending their knees and stretching their arms in front of them, palms facing downward while having to balance a stack of books on top for several minutes. But before that there was also that time where the "mean" girl in class and i were pulling each others hair, she was the one who started it suddenly out of petty jealousy(I was always trying to be nice to her, which she ignores, i could tell that she hates me cause she was always mean to me the most out of all our whole grade) and the popular girls were cheering her on. And when the teachers knew, we were sent to the principals office and parents were called. Needless to say my mom was pissed and never liked her since, specially since she kept the attitude through elementary. My mom was proud of me and even gave me a tip for when this happens again that i remember to this day. Two of the proudest moments of my life lol

In the Philippines bullies get reported to the school authorities and if group of students decided to take their brawl outside and their homeroom teacher/adviser learn about it they get reported to the guidance councilors/principal Office and recieved penalties, they either get warning with chores, suspension or worst expelled.
@deeb.92502 жыл бұрын
I think the worse get expelled and case is forwarded to the police even if they are minors... also many cities and municipalities do not have juvenile jail, kids get put in with regular inmates

@@deeb.9250 Hmm makes sense that there are less school gangs there. They get trial as adults there dang
