Glad to be one of your first thousand subscribers. This is a fantastic project you have made. I've even watched the Shorts... and I bloody hate KZbin Shorts. I drive a Land Rover Freelander 2 and you're giving me proper ideas, although I'm on all seasons rather than AT tyres. Keep up the great content.

Ahh thank you very much !! I appreciate that. They are very good and capable cars. I think smaller 4x4’s are the way to go.
@Tigermoto9 ай бұрын
@@PTP4X4 I think smaller and Lighter cars are the way forward full stop. My Freelander is almost 2 tonnes, a Range Rover over a tonne more. And like you said in the video, light little 4x4's probably don't need lockers or anything like that nearly as much. Seems Suzuki had the right idea with the Jimny.

I bought one a couple of weeks ago, and I'll hopefully be fitting a lift kit this week.

And my cinquecento does 470km on 34 liters Really cool you fitted a panda 100hp engine if i was you i put a abarth 595 it is the same engine but with a turbo. And it is Fix it again Tony 😂

I think an Abarth engine would be cool! Maybe one day ! 😂 thanks for the follow !!

Thanx for the video! I'm considering buying one again. Because i used to drive this panda (169) with sunroof. I absolutely loved it and regret selling it after i bought a newer panda (launch edition) with the twinair engine. Immediately lost the soul of the 4 cillinder roaring engine it used to have, apart from the turbo that broke and replaced. After that i was done with the panda's and moved on to the 4x4 life, buying a freelander mk1 2.5 v6. It has lost me some 5k and now i'm back again with no car at all. On my way seraching for a new car that is 4x4, light and reliable i bumped into your channel. By reading the channel name you allready got me! Thanx for showing me that the original panda's (141-169) are the one's to fall for! Is the 1.4 swap a must, if you want to travel through europe this summer? I'm ready to place a cruise control, but don't know if an engine is plug and play enough for me to swap it. Thanx for the video's! Keep up making lovely video's and give pedro a big hug! Greetings, Giovanni from the Netherlands

Thank you for the support ! I have also driven the new shape panda with the twin air, and I do think it has lost the soul .. maybe with a remap it would be better.. but also they feel bigger. I don’t know if they are or not! I love the 141 and the 169 models. The 141 isn’t quite as reliable and usable every day though.. the freelander is a good car, but parts can be expensive! I think the Pandas are great cars, and if you are doing extreme off roading, you will need the mods I have done. The engine is pretty much plug and play and is quite straightforward, but is labour intensive and takes a good 3 days to do the swap.

My flatmates have a the standard 2wd version of this panda, in the same colour but apart from that it's the complete opposite car. Unreliable, struggles with inclines, the engine makes a different noise depending on whether the headlights are on, the headlights flicker and recently it's started juddering randomly. I think it's due another visit to the garage but it's been a massive money hole for them.
@PTP4X49 ай бұрын
Oh no ! That doesn’t sound great.. I have had a number of the 2WD ones as well, and they have all been brilliant !
@synx5089 ай бұрын
It might need a battery. Pandas can struggle along with *very* poor batteries. Flickering headlights and a dependence on the power from the alternator to keep the engine running nicely both indicate the battery is weak. Juddering could be spark plugs or coil packs, Pandas don't run well with cheap spark plugs and anecdotally it seems that once you do that, it can damage the coil packs.
@OptimusToaster9 ай бұрын
@@synx508 thanks for the suggestions, worryingly the battery is only a year old and the alternator has just been replaced. I think it's gonna go to the garage again soon, hopefully for the last time.

noic, but... why not just buy suzuki jimny instead, and have same capabilities with 0 mods?
@PTP4X43 ай бұрын
I just like Panda’s. The Jimnys are great, but they are quite common and parts are expensive for them.
@laimonasrake83673 ай бұрын
@@PTP4X4 I get that it's different, and that's "cool", but from practical side - after all the mods, time and money spent, you get the same or worse MPG, similar or worse offroad capabilty, and similar on road capability as stock jimny with just AT tyres. Regarding part prices, that's kinda my point - purpose built platform like jimny would not break nearly as often, rendering price of parts less relevant. Another factor to consider is labour price to fix said parts. I get that you're famous and your pal fits them for an opportunity to colab in your videos, but most people would have to pay full labour costs. And it's these costs - not parts - that is generaly more expensive in any visit to the shop.
@PTP4X43 ай бұрын
Oh definitely I have gone OTT with my Panda for sure. But jimny’s are very fragile off road, tend to rust a lot and way more to buy in the first place. A nice Panda 4X4 is around £2.5k, but a nice jimny is £5k plus. The jimny is very good off road though and there’s plenty off the shelf parts for them, and they are awesome things. But you see them all the time when you’re off roading, and the really expensive parts like the transfer box do often crap themselves. The new shape jimny is amazing and I would have loved to get one. But they are £15k and not in my budget. I’ve spent around 6k on my panda in total and it’s more capable than a jimny with AT tyres on. But both are great cars! Also .. I do have to pay for labour unfortunately 😂 granted at a lower rate but it does still cost me to get the work done. I do what I can myself though to keep costs down.

@PTP4X49 ай бұрын
It would have cost too much, but also the Abarth has turbo lag so not ideal for off roading
