Not a very comprihensive look at the subject, and very generalized, but ask me more questions and I can go into specifics. Let me know, what you want to know!

Hi there, thanks for posting! I recently moved to the area from California and am having a hard time only knowing a few people here...do you have any tips for meeting new people here? I have tried meetup groups but haven't had much success there. Thank you :)

Hey! Its a year late and I am so sorry!! I hope you have made some new friends now, but if you are still looking for ideas I can try. :-) I met some lifeling friends when I lived in Eugene and I hope that you find/have found the same. Meeting people is SO HARD! When I was in Eugene for 3 months, I was about to ask my safeway checker to be my friend and at that point I decided to try meet up groups too! But hey, talking to your grocery checker is a legit strategy! I didnt have great luck with meet-up groups either, but I didnt give it a good go either. I actually ended up posting on Craigslist of all places that I was new to the area and some of my interests. Obviously, be careful with this avenue. Meet in public etc. You know the drill, but that actually helped me a lot. In the end, getting a job and getting to know my roommate and his friends introduced me to a lot of people and was the real winner for me I am generally a loner anyway, but you need a supportive social circle. Anywho, I hope you have settled into your new home and making friends, but if not, let me know and we can be friends! :-) Stay safe. Stay sane and be sure to self care

+Tricia Carter Hi Tricia. Yeah, I don't really use any messengers or anything, so that can be kind of hard. While I am still working on getting better at responding to comments, I am definitely happy to talk to you in here, but I understand that it isn't terribly private if you had some more personal questions to ask. I think there is a way to message me directly on KZbin though, if you wanted.

I find the cost of living in Oregon very reasonable. I lived in Miami and a 2 bedroom 1800 on up and you can rent a sofa in someones living room for 1000 and wages are low.

hi, a French friend of mine is moving to Eugene with his family (wife+1 year old kid. He has a job at the uni, she doesn't have a job, she's a clerk in France. They both speak English well and lived abroad before. He wants to move, she's holding back, because she thinks she will not find a job in Eugene and the life will be very dull given the rainy Oregon weather. I also raised the problem of personal safety, since in France people don't have guns and it's generally very safe, whereas in the US it's not always that safe. What do you think judging from your experience? is it good for them to go there with a small kid?

Hello! I apologize for the long response time. The computer has been broken, which breaks everything. Anywho, I would definitely say that Eugene is safe for families and young children. Many of my friends here are having/raising kids! Eugene isn't always for everybody, but I consider it to be a very low key, hippy, bohemian, college town. If you happen to be in the US, or know about US politics, Eugene and Portland are more democratic cities than the rest of Oregon, which can get a bit republican. But it's normal outside of larger cities it seems, at least in the pacific northwest. I would suggest them looking for a home in South Eugene, or Veneta, or Junction City/Santa Clara area. The university district can get really rowdy and if their young child would like to sleep, I would suggest staying away. It can get loud. Let me know if you or they have more questions. I apologize again that this was so late! Thank you for the question!

Oh, also on the note of the "rainy oregon weather". Yes, we do get a lot of rain. If you really, really hate rain, you may not always like it here, but I will say that because of all the rain, it means that we are SUPER green here. We always trees and parks that are beautiful because there is no shortage of water. Also, who doesn't love making hot cocoa and staring out a window with a book, while listening to the rain on the roof? Perfect day, in my opinion! To make it worth it, the mountains and the Ocean are both close, on either side of us. Usually, if it is raining in town, it won't be on the coast, so you can always escape a bit there, sometimes. There is hiking, there is biking, there is walking, running, reading, theater, green landscapes. It really is beautiful here. But yes. There is rain.

+DootlerVlogs Wow, thank you so much! Well, a bit of rain is no big deal. I mean we get a lot of that in Europe too. I copy pasted your comment and sent it to Louise, yes, I think they shouldn't worry much. I lived in a similar university town in New Zealand and I know students can get really loud and crazy, but harmless after all. However, for the sake of a restful sleep they should indeed avoid those areas closer to the campus haha. It sounds like a really nice place, I mean when I read about parks and green areas I imagine a lot of wildlife and a healthy environment too. Thank you so much for answering me and giving me such useful information! you're super kind! 😊😙

sadly, for the most part you are right. Big towns are dangerous, but smaller places are very ok. In Europe people are not allowed to have guns unless they have a valid hunting license, they are in the police, military, etc. Gun related violence is very low.

and you don't need to be rude. I was asking a question. I bet you never lived in France and you are clearly racist, but ok, that's your choice. Moron

Hello Im from crazy hot Arizona Im planning to move out next year. Im considering eugene because lowes is there my husband works for lowes and would like to buy a house in the near future maybe in creswell. Is eugene getto? im looking for a family friendly apartment any ideas where? I have kids
@DootlerVlogs7 жыл бұрын
Hi! I hope you do get to come up here! It hasn't been hot in forever! ^_^ Eugene isn't too bad really for any family, though there are a few places that are just better suited to college kids and non-kid families. If looking for a kid friendly apartment or home for rent, I would suggest looking in the Santa Clara, Junction city area, or South Eugene, or North Coburg rd. All of the real down town places are mainly crawling with students, and kiddos don't need to see those parties. ^_^ Let me know if that helps! Good luck in your search and move!
