Would you like to run a bike shop? What would you call it?

Totally... would definitely need espresso and craft beers (and boutique wines for the GCN crowd). And Peddlin' Bikes & Brews.

Watching a handful of GMBN videos inspired me to buy a Trek Roscoe 7 (most expensive bike I've owned) after being off a bike for 10 years! I love your guys videos and energy in this sport! Thank you all at GMBN from across the pond in the states!

@dee bag it's been great! You bought a roscoe 7 as well?
@NLiner115 жыл бұрын
@dee bag you are gonna love it on the trail. It's great bike for the price! I put some composite oneup pedals on and went tubless and I'm genuinely pleased with it being a hard tail. Even the Judy Rockshock is very capable

I'm sad to hear that John's Bikes in Bath have gone. I worked in AVC, under the railway station while at Uni and when visiting Bath again, found that they had gone a long time ago. If I could, I would work in a bike shop to this day, it was never about the pay, it was about the fun, the tech and use of the workshop during my lunch break! Good bike shops have a community with them, customers who come back as friends just to chat and sometimes with a bag of doughnuts for the mechanics. This is something that I don't feel with the chain stores such as Halfords Bike Huts that have high staff turn over.

JayneFlakes : simular situation. Bought a Balance mtb. & 2yrs later liked so much tried to get a aluminum one & just like that, Gondy. That really suckes.

@@raifolson7033 Ah yeah, I can imagine it's a smaller scene then other more mainstream sports. Plus side is you won't mess up your life by sitting behind a desk and stare at a screen 8 hours a day minimum..

PDI for ebikes confused me. As a mechanic I find the ebikes usually are better built from the factory and takes less time, certainly no more than standard bike. Also swapping brakes over means pulling hose from lever and swapping them over, takes less than 2 minutes.

Interesting video. Still think if you want a bike shop worth £1m you start with £2m. Got to be a tough business to make a living given big retailers offer big discounts. Some bicycles are now the price of motorcycles . Having written that still hope that Sandy and other equivalent shop owners can survive as you cannot get the same buying experience buying off the internet.

LOL at a rep complaining about selling a direct brand. Brand reps provide so little value in the distribution chain in 2019, just add useless costs which inflates MSRP on Santa Cruz etc. 30-40%. Those brands need to get on board like Giant, Trek etc. have to cut that margin down to 20ish %.

Why don't you work hard for it like the rest of us? Spending your own hard earned cash will make you appreciate it more aswell. If you want free bikes, you're going to have to ride alot and get good to earn yourself a sponsorship.
