Very true. Many if not most large company call centers are awful. Smaller are better but still, for me, could be just as bad.

It's bad. I worked at two of them before, so I can tell you that it is bad. Both mentally and physically. So, based on experience, MommyAngel is correct: in the long-run, it is a soul killer.

People that have experienced these work environments know better. They don't care, there's always a batch of new people coming through. When it all gets automated, people will struggle to find work.

Did it for long time... Before taking a call center job... Ask yourself these questions : Like not being allowed to take off around the holidays? If you do then call centers are for you! Like not being allowed to take a sick day for a doctor's appointment? Then call centers are for you? Like not having a moment to breath between calls except for the two 15 minutes break and 30 minute lunch? Then call centers are for you. Call centers are not for me... So I am in a job that unfortunately is the opposite of everything I described above.

Unfortunately?
@lotto57425 жыл бұрын
Dude, every job has two 15 minute breaks along with a 30 min lunch. Quit complaining. Try working in a ricefield in the back country of Cambodia in the extreme heat at 6 years old making only $2 a day. You Americans are so ungrateful.
@7s294 жыл бұрын
@@lotto5742 Whilst I understand that working in a rice field would be difficult, no one is playing with your mind. If you ever are unfortunate enough to work in a CC workplace, you'll then wish you were in a rice field.

You take a job in a call centre and an interim job until you find a real job; ditch digging for a white collar dude! Washing dishes had gone to machines so you take a job in a contact centre - generally there will be no advancement or scope for growth and the money sux! The relief that floods your soul when you get out of those places is sublime! lol I drive cars/buses as a volunteer for a Community Transport service in some of the most beautiful country side on the South Coast of NSW in Australia and I do it for FREE - yep, for FREE and I love it! Happily get up at 6:00 am or even earlier and can't wait to get to the job! NO KPI's, NO AHT's, NO 'Driver Monitoring', NO Targets and I've at it for 4 years now! I'm super reliable, dependable, punctual, presentable and cheerful - maybe the goons that run call/contact centres could take a leif outta my book?!!
@7s294 жыл бұрын
I remember when I left my CC job, I scored another job, way better job. They called me to offer the job whilst in the CC. Man, I almost jumped like I won the lottery. I couldn't wait to hand in my notice. On my last day, they planned a farewell for me, I left at midday. I get to my car, I call them back and tell them I'm not feeling well, and I'm going home. That was so satisfying to just ditch them like that. I already said my goodbyes with the people I liked there, and they knew I was planning on doing that, so it was all good.

Working in the call center is like you're being put on the front lines in the battlefield where you're prepared to get begraded, degraded and belittled by the customer. The high turnover is what enable people to quit. Its straight up toxic to the max.

PTSD from a call center? To be honest they are probably sensitive and already had mental issues. I'm an unarmed security guard, I think I can do it. You deal with disrespectful people in person, only difference is you can pretty much tell them to fuck off

My AHT at my job at the moment is 3 minutes :/
@Toxked6 жыл бұрын
Depending on what the call center handles the target AHT target can be as low as 3 min to 10 min. I have heard of some that were 30 min or more. But they were all very technical trouble shooting network issues and higher end problems.
@kittenkat79864 жыл бұрын
That is a silly AHT and I guarantee it leads to repeat call backs and disgruntled customers. Now that is average handling time so to reach that and take into account very long calls most of your calls would have to be almost a minute. Now take into account each call you probably need to get the personal information, verify that and also most likely wait for the system to catch up. I have noted the call centers don't seem to realize if they want the agent to work quickly so does the system. So in reality how long do you have to actually listen to the caller, diagnose their problem, give them a solution, take the time to make sure it is understood and possibly give them the time to try and implement the solution. Anyone who thinks an AHT of 3 minutes is realistic is an idiot.

nope. i love my job... i love talking to people. if you dont like talking to people then this job is not for you... me, i gain friends with my customers... i even turn unhappy customers into a happy ones. 😇 if u are a negative person then dont work in call center. but if you work positively and that u wanted to HELP your customers needs and you want to make them happy then love this job bcoz its really fun. Being FUN starts within ur self not to ur customers.not the company but its in YOUR ATTITUDE.

@Toxked4 жыл бұрын
Total I was in call centers about 5 years. The longest time together was about 2 and a half years. One I was in the coaching sessions were a step below verbal abuse. The company had the view that a high turnover was good to get rid of the ones that wont get it. Another would work with you to get you better. It's all in how iys run.

Zamzam Adam I have never worked there. I know some one who worked for a hotel call center. He had to go over locations and amenities at the hotel is. I would think airlines would be like that. Setting up reservation s for the flytes. I think I recall someone who did that and said it was 2 or 3 minute calls setting up the flyt plan. If that helps.
