Hi Christine! Jetpack doesn't do everything, so you'll still need some other plugins. Yoast is a great example, I would recommend also getting it.

In my media section, I don't have the option to speed up images and photos although it states that even with a free account we should have this option. Do you know why this might be?

If you turn on Photon, Jetpack's Image service, it speeds things up automatically, you don't have to do anything at all.
