It also has to do with the proportion of the shoulder width to the rest of the body, and the relative angle/length of the armpit to the waist, and the length of the arms in proportion to the body. It also has to do with how tall you "seem." You can be a certain height but actually feel taller or shorter to people based on the proportions I mentioned, in addition to the size of your head relative to your body. Looking at a picture of her in a bikini from back in the day, I can see why he would say that based on all her proportions. Her body is not that wide, in particular not her shoulders, which would put her more in the natural category. And her legs LOOK very long in proportion to the rest of her body.

Yea, some people feel she is one of the naturals, to me she looks like a Flamboyant Gamine. She has the yin large round eyes and the yang strong jawline and cheekbone, creating the contrast. I know you are supposed to focus more on the body than the face, which makes it hard because usually the face is the most prominent part of a person and portrait photos only include the face.
@ags1370Ай бұрын
@@AngelaMastrodonato To me this is where the "bones" come in, which is one of the hardest Kibbe concepts for me to discern. But to me, Jackie O's bones are SO sharp. When I see her in shorts, or tight jeans, it looks like her knees or hips can cut glass. That combined with her height (or how tall she felt) screams Dramatic. Plus, even with her soft facial features, something about her overall facial look is hawk-like to me. So as you said, her jaw and cheekbones, are very sharp. When you consider her bones from head to toe, including those of the face, that is another element of sharpness to consider in the equation.

I’m so off predicting celebrity Kibbe types. I’ve seen Molly Ringwald in a lot of videos lately because I got hooked on documentaries about The Breakfast Club. Anyway, with her long neck, she gives off the same vibes as Audrey Hepburn, who Kibbe said is a Flamboyant Gamine. With that information, I confidently assumed Kibbe would have typed Molly Ringwald as a Flamboyant Gamine too. I seem to get caught up on one key trait that sticks out to me or get caught up in the sum of people’s parts. Makes me wonder if I typed myself correctly after being unsure about it for about a year.
@jinieroses8038 Жыл бұрын
Molly Ringwald did dress like a gamine. But for Soft Naturals I can most of the times tell their ID by looking at their wide smile and their chin. I've gotten scolded by the Kibbe community for this, 😂 but that's how I recognize them.
@AngelaMastrodonato Жыл бұрын
@@jinieroses8038 so I think I’m a soft natural and for me, the theme for naturals is squareness. I have the square jawline, shoulders, hands, and even square thumbnail beds. I think I’m soft and not flamboyant because of my smallish-medium height, big boobs and small feet, and likely small hands too but the square shape makes them look bigger to me. At first though, I considered that I could have been an exceptionally short flamboyant natural or some sort of awkward dramatic classic, which I know is a contradiction in terms. I abandoned the idea of me being any type of classic because there is nothing balanced or symmetrical about me. Then I actually thought I could be flamboyant gamine despite Aly once saying flamboyant gamines and soft naturals have the least in common. I understand gamines as having contrast, and I have the long torso but short legs, big boobs but flat butt. I ruled that out because I would see flamboyant gamines in high necklines and double breasted blazers and both look awful on me. The soft natural lines seem to be what I feel the most comfortable in.
@raraavis7782 Жыл бұрын
@@AngelaMastrodonato I think, our very favorite (or most loathed) clothes often give it away. If you already have a style or at least some pieces, you feel you really 'pop' in (or not!), I'd take a hint from that over 'self perception', probably. Categorizing yourself is very hard, unless you're really the picture book example of a type. For people, who are really unsure, I like to recommend going to a good department store and trying very different types of clothing. Many (especially younger) people have never seen themselves in sober business attire or a formal dress. Or something frilly and romantic. And it can really be eye opening.

I dont think they realize what it is to be FN, it is like the need to be free from restriction. These celebs are short. Another youtuber said at 5'6 you have to be FN, D or SD, I don't know if that's straight from the Facebook group Kibbe is in, he could have made the height requirements stricter. So it would seem SN could only be as tall as 5'5 or 5'6 depending on the source. This means some of the celebrities listed as SN would have to be migrated to FN, such as Molly Ringwald who is 5'8 reportedly. As a 5'6 woman I find it rare someone my height is not yang dominant.

Apparently Leonardo DiCaprio is like 5’11” or 6’ and he’s also a romantic. Someone pointed out that actors might be lying about their height. Both these guys looked like Romantics to me before I learned their height. Both of them do seem sort of soft even when they are at their fittest. They also have very rounded facial features. Now I think Elijah Wood was Romantic on Kibbe’s list and I would have guessed he was a soft gamin due to the contrast between his huge round eyes (yin feature) and strong square jawline (yang feature). I understood Gamines/Gamins to be a collection of contrasts, which gives them sort of a youthful, quirky appearance. In my opinion Elijah Wood fits this aesthetic. I believe he never got rid of the polarities (Romantic/Theatrical Romantic, Soft Gamine/Flamboyant Gamine, etc.). He only got rid of the nonpolar types, like pure Classic, pure Gamine, pure Natural. Romantic was and remains the ultimate yin polarity.

I'm sorry but this doesn't make any sense. I have spent months trying to understand the Kibbe system. The Kibbe vocabulary has helped me to understand why some clothes work better on me than others. However, the Kibbe verified examples don't make any sense. Kibbe claims that his system is strictly about how fabric drapes over the body. However, most of these people only match the descriptions of their types thorough their faces, personalities, and the kinds of music or characters they play. If we are talking about that, then fine. But if this is meant to be about body types, then make it make sense. I personally have a body that matches the description of FN, and that looks good in FN lines. However, my face has a lot of gamine, and as a person I have weird childish vibes. So based on this video, I have no clue what Kibbe would type me as. And at this point I don't care, because I am 98% convinced that it's arbitrary, and that he is just doing it to gaslight us into not trusting our own perceptions.

I feel what you’re saying. I clearly see that people with very different body patterns are put together and vice versa.

Did he always have Gene Tierney as Dramatic?
@lisemichelin6997 Жыл бұрын
That one surprised me too!

But it also illuminated for me why Jacqueline Bisset, who I now realize must also be a dramatic, looks so terrible in delicate, yin-ish things.

I love your channel but still struggle to identify the types. After this I am utterly lost. Clearly, Kibbe typing is not my strength!

I have a sneaking suspicion that Kibbe typing is not Kibbe's strength either.

The list of men makes me question the whole theory. I just don’t see the difference and the commonality between men of the same type or different
@calliope66237 ай бұрын
I know, I was expecting that most of the dramatic men were going to be tall sharp and narrow, at least to some degree. There are plenty of guys like that out there. But no. Instead we get a flood of broad burly men. I don't buy it.

Great video! How about Dakota Johnson as soft classic?There’s not too many of us.

Dakota Johnson can't be Soft Classic because she's too tall and has lots of elongation to her.

Some don't seem right. Eg. Emma Thompson is too tall for one of the classics (5'8").

Im curious to know if all twins are assigned to the same body type...like the Olsen twins. ....including brother/ sister twin etc.????
@collardgreens80 Жыл бұрын
I'm thinking only identical twins would always be typed the same. Fraternal twins are no more alike than any other sibling. And siblings can be very different from one another.

Thank you for putting this here! Though I’ll admit - I’ve been helping my friends find their kibbe for almost a decade, but even I get overwhelmed and confused by the celeb list 😂😝

Is it possible that this might not be a weakness in your perceptions, but rather a sign of inconsistency in Kibbe's logic?
