I've just implemented (or trying to implement) arnis into my other combat sports training just yesterday and I've been using your videos on this channel and the old Usapang Arnis videos as a sort of guide for some ideas on training (Great stuff. Very helpful btw!). Was planning on going to this event this weekend to see the competitions to see this sort of stuff in action!

I'm happy to hear you find these videos useful! :D If you need recommendations to more comprehensive stuff (like online courses) let me know! :) It would definitely be cool to see these stuff in person! :)

This is exciting! I hope this reaches the visayas region. We've inculcated knife(wooden) sparring with our arnis training. I think my point karate footwork will come in handy here! Pugay!

Love your content man!! Id love to see an arnis tutorial where you use all the traditional terms for moves and combos!!

Thanks man! Different lineages use different terms so the same movement can have different names across FMA. :) So when I use a term, it just means that's how I was introduced to it, and not necessarily the universal way of calling it. So it would be tough to make a video with the intention of setting the terms. :) haha!

So it's basically fencing with short blades? Looks super fun! I wish they had events in the US.

At the 6.08 mark, ref gives 2 points red. I saw simultaneous head strikes, am I missing something as a novice, or was it a sketchy call?

Hey Trveor! If you watch it frame by frame, you'll see that he hit my head a split second before I hit his. :) I also felt it in that moment and knew he scored. For this type of sport, if the ref can discern a first hit, the point goes to that player. Having said that, we all consent to some human error as this is just good fun and sports. :)

@@daniel_bernas wow it must have been such a split second hit, or out of frame. I did slow it down to .5 speed and didn’t see it. But great sport of you to admit it!
