So let's just investigate the beginning of this story. The nt claims that the Pharisees were hypocrites and not following the laws which they knew were binding but they didn't care. Then the story continues that they were busy creating "burdens" on top of the law which were not necessary. How does anyone understand this? If they didn't care about the laws, what gain would they have by adding on to the laws? If anything, they should be taking laws away.

Fellas, excellent talk about traditions of man and how they can become law. My question for us coc folk is .......... what traditions do we hold on to as commands of God? We love to point fingers at others but don't like to look at ourselves.

Scripture seems to imply that legalism involves trying to adhere 100% to Mosaic law with the expectation that you will be saved through that.

The biblical definition of legalism is demanding that someone does something that isn't required by biblical doctrines. The NT clearly conveys the message in passages like Matt. 5:17-20 and 2 Pet. 3:14 that striving towards moral perfection is a command and not a suggestion, so that isn't legalism.

I left a church because of some of their traditions that are found in the Bible but not a law & served no purpose for todays Christian, like washing of feet, one room was for men & one for woman for this. I also noticed what you said you were eating. Is there restrictions on the foods we eat??? I don’t believe there are any. When the sheet was torn, I think this was a 2 fold vision. 1 to allow unclean people in to hear the gospel & 2, to allow all animals, clean & unclean, to be eaten. I enjoyed the entire talk.❤️✝️❤️

Hi, we don't have the same food laws as old Israel did. However, this was carried over for us: Acts 15:20 & 29; 21:25. Since we should abstain from things strangled and blood, (as well as pollution of idols, and fornication) this would show that food prep is important and we should not eat "rare" or uncooked meat as it still has the blood. These verses take it back before the law of Moses like Jesus did with marriage, divorce, and remarriage. Genesis 9:3-4. Sadly, we would never argue against the fornication and idol portion but because we will reconcile why we can eat a rare steak, we ignore this. But the scripture for this is clear. But at least we can eat all meat, just cook it thoroughly.
@sandyshaw17912 жыл бұрын
@@thevirtuouswife Meat with its blood is referring to animals that are not properly bled, & rare meat is meat that has been offered to idols, not the way it’s cooked. Thank you for replying but doesn’t really answer my question.❤️✝️❤️
@thevirtuouswife2 жыл бұрын
@@sandyshaw1791 When I state "rare" it's not in relation to idols but meat that still has blood in it (e.g. rare, medium rare, or full raw). So, based on the scriptures you shouldn't eat anything that is not bled properly, still raw (as it contains blood), food in service during acts of idol worship (or have anything to do with idol worship to begin with), nor should you fornicate. We can accept it not. But I gave the verses for context, as you simply asked were there any restrictions on food today; these are the only ones. Have a great day😊.
@sandyshaw17912 жыл бұрын
@@thevirtuouswife I know what you meant. It doesn’t matter how well an animal is bled there’s always going to be some red liquid in the meat but that’s not blood in its truest form. I eat medium rare steak & find nothing wrong with that. Enough said on this subject. 😘
@theeternalsbeliever17792 жыл бұрын
@@thevirtuouswife It is false to argue that the dietary law isn't authoritative anymore when Lev. 11 shows God saying that eating unclean meat is an abomination, and there is literally no biblical precedent for God ever changing His position on something once it was given that label.

When Jesus was on the cross he said "it was finished". Trying to obey a list of rules will never bring righteousness. Let Jesus save you and quit trying to save yourselves.
@theeternalsbeliever17792 жыл бұрын
The inherent problem with your theology is that Jesus clearly spent Matt. 5-7 putting the responsibility on the Christian to strive towards moral perfection. The idea that Jesus saves ppl through mental accepting His existence is as ridiculous as it is unbiblical.
@bryanroberts99202 жыл бұрын
@@theeternalsbeliever1779 Yes sir we should strive for perfection and should live a holy and righteous lifestyle. With that being said , apart from the grace of God no man will enter into his kingdom. "For by GRACE are you saved, and not of works lest any man should boast"...... Jesus said "He was the way" in John 14. You will not be able to save yourself. If you could Jesus would have never gone to the cross.....

The sinners prayer is in John 9:31and it was common knowledge in the apostles time. The blind man that was healed was being questioned and he states in John 9:31: now we know that God heareth not sinners: but if any man be a worshipper of God, and doeth his will, he hears him. So, how could a sinner get salvation, if GOD isn't listening? Then wouldn't you have to do GOD's will to be a worshipper?
