I just discovered this channel, and one of my favourite movies on that channel, when I watched The Witcher Season 1 about 2 years ago, I determined that this was one of my favourite Series of all time, I finished watching the 2nd Season earlier this year and now ya'll are treating me to this amazing show again, I don't deserve this much goodness.

Book expert again here. Geralt's side of the story of Ciri's training and the obstacle course scene (minus Eskel's funeral) does happen in the books. However, those other events that's happening outside of Geralt and Ciri's POV didn't appear in the books and those are new scenes/subplot that's exclusive to the show. Basically, 3/4 of the episode is actually filler and 1/4 is actually canon. Also, before anyone comments "the show is better than the books" or "the books and the show should be its own thing" bc my comments are getting flak from people who never read or did read the books. Listen, to anyone in the comments, if you like the show, that's fine. I'm not gonna judge you. That's your opinion. I'm just giving out fun facts, that is all.

@@soumyajitmandal6028 i though it was a little forced in the show, special bc the first conflict is btw Ciri and Eskel, and she literally just laughed and he went like who the fuck are u. And the joke she made about Lambert having no brains in the books he would died laughing. To be fair, in the books when Ciri gets to Karen Mohen she is way younger, like 12 or something like that. But the point is, is that the Witchers in the books are actually like family to Ciri, with Geralt being the father, Vasemir the grandfather and all the other Witchers like cool uncle's. The whole point of that part in the story is that hey are Virus found family and is so cool to have the most marginalized group in that world also be the most warm and affectionate. It would be Soo cool having that in the show, while quite literally all the rest of the world is full of hate and war. But the writers don't know how to write without having conflict, even if it's dumb and useless conflict that adds nothing to the story

Never understood the reason for Yennefer's actions in the end of the episode. I watched the episode now with you guys, took a shower and had to come back to this episode to type out that it makes no sense. There is one logical reason for Yennefer to free Black Knight, she didn't want him to die. But that's logical reason is illogical. She doesn't need him for anything. If anything, she wants him to die. But she didn't want to kill him herself. There is no point for her letting him free, she could've ran alone.

Even though they are changing a lot from the books & making up shit that will never connect to the games, I like that they are keeping Ciri a shit magnet just like she is in the game. Wherever she goes her ass attracts the worst kind of troubles. She had to exile herself to another dimention in order to balanced things out on this version of Earth. 😂 The show probably won't do that due to all the bad & controversial changes in season 2, like Yen never lost powers ever. That subplot was the worst change this season.

Yeah, I didn't really understand the change either with Yennefer, but honestly it builds so much more within her character fundamentally. Like Chaos was all she had known, it made her, and literally molded. Before the introduction to it, she was helpless and considered an animal. This season strips it away because it allows Yennefer to realize she doesn't only have chaos, but she has love which is by far more powerful. Initially, Yennefer thought she needed no one and she was at her best alone, now she understands the importance of family considering she never had one. A lot of people only think of book or game Yennefer, but this show puts her in a state of vulnerability that we've never seen her in, which is new, different, and honestly necessary for her overall development.

Does it really matter if the show doesn't connect with the games? Both the show and the games are non canon fan fiction. Now the changes from the books are definitely affecting the show. But atleast yennefer is a properly developed character in here instead of being limited to little more than geralt's lover. Book yennefer is just a side character whereas show yennefer is one of the main characters. That's probably the only example where the show improved upon the source material, rest of the changes aren't improvements.

Funnily enough, the entire reason my parents were okay with me training in martial arts from a young age is exactly the reason Sheera pointed out: It gave them a sense of security knowing I could handle myself. Also helped I was one of few girls in my classes, so I got used to fighting boys (and men once I was in late middle school and high school). I'd highly recommend martial arts for children and frankly anyone. It instilled a sense of security and confidence in me, knowing that I could capably handle myself if I needed to. Especially being petite and a woman. Plus it teaches responsibility, consequences of actions, self-control, and the importance of meditation. And ya know, it is fun learning kata, sparring with classmates, learning weapons handling, and staying fit.
