What is Marfan syndrome?

Marfan syndrome is a genetic condition affecting connective tissues, and affects 1 in 3000 people. Some of the recognised signs include being particularly tall and slim, with children outgrowing their clothes quickly, having long fingers, and large feet, and stretchy skin.

Short is yes. There a number of factors that carry varying degrees person to person.

Each area of problem, is addressed by the doctor. Example, heart patients see the cardiologist who will prescribe medication base on the problem. Etc.

My father was suspected of having Marfan syndrome. He was very tall - 6 feet for a man born in 1912 - and thin with long hands, and he lost all his teeth by the time he was 30. I have both the hand signs shown in this video and my span is 6 feet compared with height of 5 feet 9. I have had my aorta scanned with no abnormalities. I also have a high narrow palate and have had teeth removed for crowding. I don't have a formal diagnosis of Marfan and in general I'm not particularly flexible.

It can affects all parts of the body. It doesn’t affect everyone the same way. Saliva is being used in these days.

No-one with Marfan Syndrome should get married, it is a death sentence. Be careful babies, you are stronger than you could ever imagine, look after your hearts and protect them. How long have they been doing blood test for this because my son saw different specialist and they all said he had soft features 14 years ago and none of them did a blood test he is over 7 ft tall he has the dip in his chest can wrap one hand around his wrist and actually overlaps quite a bit he has flat feet size 16 feet he has problems with his blood pressure as it’s very low and he has a very slow resting heart rate he is very flexible as well and he has problems with his eyes

Your son would be easily, clinically diagnosed with Marfan, based on how I was firstly, in 2004. Just recently, I was genetically diagnosed. What you should do is get in touch with the Marfan Foundation. They can refer you to a doctor or specialist in your area. Good luck.

I found many friends over time and for over 7 years we have shared differences and likes; whereby we are better able to understand Marfan on a wide scale, since we are all different. They say no two persons are alike, not even in the same family. You can ask me any questions no matter what.
