For foreigners we should categories actors in two categories-Desi and not too desi. Some actors like Ranveer, Ranbir, Aamir, Srk, Hritik they are liked by western audiences mostly because they have western approach or thinking whatever you call it so they fall in the NOT DESI category. While Akshay, Govinda, Salman they fall in Desi category. When you see their interviews they have never talked about the influence of western cinema in their work or also I believe they must not even be watching Hollywood movies for entertainment. So I believe they fall in the DESI category. Like we have an audience for Bollywood movies and another watches both so is the case with actors as well.

I would say lyrics of most of the Govinda's song has local comedy nuances...and people largely relate to that which made him so popular. His songs are funny, hilarious but not cheesy, at least for me. For me cheese is something, which makes u little embarrassed when u look back although u still enjoy that. But Govinda's, it's straight way funny whenever you see. It might seem weird to you or new generation too...but in 90s, grammar, lyrics making sense or not...these aspects in english lyrics were often deliberately ignored...becoz that way it connected with public more...at that time we used to struggle with English way more than the kids of this time...and that way...these weird sentences gave rise to jokes also...this local context, broken English in comedic way, Indian can relate to it well. I remember how becoz of limited knowledge of English, especially in rural areas...people apply a single format to other ones also despite being it not correct. Don't take everything literally...I would say try to see a local metaphor, slangs in lyrics especially in Govinda's

Clearly, you're missing something here. For one, Govinda is known for his hysterically funny movies and he has the BEST comic timing in all of Bollywood. So what you saw as 'weirdness' is actually a comic song. Which is not the same thing as cheese. Cheese is when the actors are taking themselves very seriously, but when you watch them years later, what they're doing seems dated and therefore funny. So YOU are laughing at them, while they are quite serious. With Govinda, he's being deliberately over the top. As in all comedy, the actors are laughing too. The other thing about the song is a cultural thing. Once you listen to lots of Bollywood songs, you will find that they always incorporate, in song, any new technological phenomenon in the lyrics. So when the typewriter came out decades ago, there was a song that celebrated that. The mobile phone is one such new thing. So at one level this song acknowledges, comically, the mobile phone.

It's not jealousy. They really won't get it unless they see a proper dance number of his like 'I am a street dancer'. They think he is just weird because they have only seen his goofy songs. The problem is his fans. Just think about it, they introduce Govinda to them as a great dancer and request the song 'Sona kitna Sona hai' where he is hardly dancing at all! On the other hand, they introduce Prabhu deva to them with his best dance number 'Mukkala MUQABALA'. What reaction do you expect? If they have to appreciate these songs, they have to see his conventional dance numbers too so that they understand he is intentionally being weird in his goofy songs.

Well said @Mohammed Suhail . But I do think amd know that they love him also, but some songs are obvious that they will not understand. I have been telling them to watch his 80s dance numbers and other fans are just suggesting these fun numbers in which he has not danced much. In India there is a reason why Prabhu Deva is not ranked above him by many. That only those will know who have seen all his dance numbers. Although they are very different and not to be compared . There is a very clear reason.

I have been saying this from the very first song they reacted to. They are not the ones to blame, it is his fans who keep requesting only his cheesy songs. How do you expect them to react after telling them he is a great dancer and then tell them to react to songs like 'Sona kitna Sona hai' and 'Kisi disco mein Jaayein'. That's just plain stupid! Rick and Korbin: watch movies RAJA BABU and/or HERO NO. 1 of Govinda. You will know he owned the entertainment quotient of the 90s. To me, he is the best dancer ever of bollywood. Hritik, tiger and others can't provide the amount of entertainment in a bollywood song as this guy. Govinda is a natural while others arent. He dances even when he doesn't. I like him more than all the Khans combined because he is real. I watched Govinda's Raja Babu standing up, dancing and rolling on the floor laughing..my mother would scream at me to sit down on the sofa but i couldn't.. and that's when i knew I will act, walk, talk and dance like Govinda.. I did his songs in front of my school class.. my Friends still call me Govinda.. so yes I am biased but trust me he is that good.. even today.. reality shows call upon him for guest appearances and he steals the show just himself.. and yes, some of his stuff is goofy but you gotta remember this was the 90s.. can't compare it to today's stuff.. people liked this stuff back then.. and it worked..

@@Raider4967 Korbin was always the kinds to not take any shit on Twitter or Instagram or on video comments to the people who are rude. But in video reactions he has been open about his views. In many videos he finds something funny and unheard of about which he comments on spot and doesnt let that bit hamper his views about the entire video. That's what Rick used to do earlier. Of late he seems a bit disinterested and judgemental. I know he's going through trying times as he had said in the video on his channel but it is affecting the Rick who used to be open to every weird stuff and as the channels fans we can say that to them.
