It would be interesting to compare modern love to love in different eras/cultures in history. Commodification of love is a modern phenomenon, but surely there must have been roots in previous periods.

in the great sweep of history marrying primarily for love is a very recent phenomenon. it was actually much more about economics in earlier eras. you don’t hear about “dating” until well into the 20th century. even today arranged marriages still dominate in many cultures especially outside Western first world countries.

quite excited for the next two videos because I'm a total beginner. i've had a few seeds, which, in retrospect, I did a crappy job watering, and then became sad when they didn't grow. hoping to learn how to fill up and use that watering can to it's fullest extent, ya feel? peace, love, and 40 acres to you all

The problem with online dating is that, when you match with someone, you’re basically saying “you’re attractive enough for me,” and then you go on a date. That’s not how romance works. In reality when you meet someone at a party, or see someone in the park, or whatever, you have a conversation with them, you gage their personality, their sense of humour, whether you have similar interests, whether you vibe physically, all these things you can’t discover over a screen. That’s why so many people have tinder horror stories. And really, I don’t think there’s anything more unromantic than meeting on a dating app, and then having to tell your friends and family that (lol). There’s something about it that just reeks of desperation. Meeting people in real life is better. Find a hobby, join a group, meet someone you have a shared interest with, or just wait. It’s my belief that if you become the person that your ideal partner would want to be with, they will come into your life without you even trying. Just have patience, you don’t want to jump in a relationship with the wrong person, trust. Like my man Erich Fromm says, “stop chasing bitches, learn how to love better”

Makes sense to me, though the problem for many folks (not all) is that this sort of extended community is getting harder to find.

the problem is that women are highly privileged on dating apps, they get 200x as many likes in average than men. I am searching for a wife full time now for over 3 years, swiped over a million women but nothing. I had 2 dates but both girls expected me to not only pay everything (which I did) but also to give them luxury brand scam stuff. I focus a lot on loving a girl, buy flowers etc, but the reason it doesn't work are the numbers and the fact that women did not have to have the urge of loving their husband as much in evolution since the outside pressure of predators already forced her to stay with the family and the man while she is pregnant

I think the problem with modern dating is the fact that we have too many apps that are trash and expensive. And the ones that are free(-ish because there aren't any free apps), have even more scammers, IG following collectors, escorts, etc.

Modern dating is terrible, as it contaains many acts that are unessential to a relationship, for example giving chocolates, having these ''special time only'' events. It does not show what a true relationship should be. Romatic Love itself is bad, and this is not an issue that is recent but has been an issue in history.
