Said beautifully, I’ve been buying moissanite jewelry lately, I do have real diamonds too but honestly I like moissanite more then my diamonds. My diamonds cost way more & are about half the quality of the vvs colour D moissanite.

So the rainbow sparkle on Moissanite is not refraction, it’s fire. Diamond has little to no fire, but Moissanite does (🌈🔥)

Yes because at the end it's a beautiful gem of it's own kind and just because is cheaper doesn't mean is less valuable. It will have the same significance as a diamond when I propose to my future fiance. Plus save money for the honeymoon.

Moissanite (& tanzanite) is my favorite gemstone. I would much rather have moissanite than diamonds. I have 7 pieces of moissanite, & one of those is purple, my favorite color. It is set in a solitaire setting & is one of my prized possessions!

It's fake because it's much much cheaper. And people buy diamonds because they signify you have too much money. If suddenly we found the biggest diamond mine ever, and the price dropped to the price of glass, people would stop buying diamonds.

Moissanite is not a fake diamond. It´s a gemstone.

@@sinekonata your sentence doesn't make sense first of all. Anyways, please elaborate because you clearly did not state any facts but your opinion on moissanite which are in fact real. Technology is here and is able to produce diamonds and moissanite with the same chemical compounds as the natural mined gems.

@@davidbueso3840 You all refuse to understand I'm not discussing chemistry. I'm discussing social norms and psychology. In society, the value is determined by inverse ability to obtain. If anyone can obtain moissanite, in the eyes of society, it will have less value. Those are facts. In our elitist society where cheap is a dirty word, if diamonds become as cheap to acquire as steel, for one thing people will just stop proposing with diamonds rings since the goal is to "prove you spent lots of time/effort to prove your love" or whatever. Facts as well. So acquiring moissanite, if it is cheaper, you're actually "cheating" society by pretending you possess more power or spent more effort/time than you actually have. Do people really care about the chemical properties? Nope. Do they care about the optical properties? Maybe, but not to that extent. I for one would probably be "fooled" by simply topaz, crystal or maybe even plastic and find their colours nice and shiny enough already. The fact that moissanite is even more fiery than diamonds yet people still don't rush to buy them proves that point about the physical properties not being what people care about. People care about proving they have spent lots of money. All facts.

@@sinekonata I do agree and relate with you on your first paragraph. However, I do not agree with you in the part where you believe society has devalued items like diamonds or moissanite just because they scientifically thave found a way to mass produced gems. Value is a relative term on your interpretation of mind. For example, scientists have found a way to create oxygen for medical needs; it's a medical oxygen generators which utilizes the well-known and mature PSA or Pressure Swing to Adsorption technology to create oxygen. Thus, doesn't mean is devalued, but a great resource to continue helping patients. Same goes with diamonds and gems. At the end, cheap or expensive can have the same value because its not about price, but about the meaning. Many people have different preference. Some might want an expensive authentic natural mined diamond while others might want something affordable like a moissanite and save money for a honeymoon. Moissanite or lab diamonds looks the same as natural gem to the human eye and it will signify the same to the person you love, it does not matter.
