It should also be noted that contacting the artist directly is a great way to go. I bought a piece from Tempest last year because the artist simply had it all these years.

Well it is the end of the month, so will we soon get an update about how your new job has been going. Also I love that you did a video about the art of magic. Last night I was talking to a woman and told her I was going to play Magic today. And she asked why and the first thought that came to mind was your argument on why people should play Magic. I explained to her about how it was as good as chess in strategy and everything you talked about in your previous video about it. Just thought I would thank you for it.

Very nice video. Me and a friend collect vintage cards. Mostly anything (quantity before quality) and I can spend hours looking at the cards in the binders. The early sets are some of my favorite, but I love weatherlight to destiny too.

Raymond Swanland is my favorite artist. I can usually tell his art before I even look at the name of the artist on the card. Every time I see his artwork on a new card I get filled with a sense of admiration for his style. He's done cards like Thraximunder, Vengvine, Vioshino Slaughtermaster, Dragonmaster Outcast, and many more.

Hymn to Tourach by Scott Kirschner was always one of my favorite mtg artworks. Reiver Demon, Grinning Demon, Avatar of Woe and Scion of Darkness are also amazing. Black rules. An honorable mention goes to Goblin Piledriver.

Excellent video. I have some Magic art pieces on my wall, none are of original source image, but rather limited edition, signed recreation prints sold by the artist themselves. My favorite I have signed is "Taste of Blood" by Howard Lyon in an edition of 30, I believe. Very affordable if you go with signed prints, as sometimes they're as cheap as 20 bucks. The Lyon print in particular I think was around 60, but still, very affordable if you want some high-quality art on your wall.

Another fantastic video and great descriptions! I think there are to many cards to just pick one! Otherwise for my own enjoyment I would love Enduring Ideal by Daren Bader. I think, because it was my second casual deck I had when I technically first played magic, it was some of the most fun I have actually had! I had the amazing opportunity to meet Daren Bader the past 2 years at comic con, had had some artist proofs and more, but no enduring Ideal, so I picked up a couple small ones to take home (Maybe I should share them on KZbin!) Can't wait to meet 24+ MTG artist this year @ SDCC + Another 8 @ Grand Prix San Diego!

I really like the older arts. Since Theros they all look so mega photoshopped. Look at Origin spoilers, some are so digital that I don't even like them anymore. That Sphinx guys head looks like it's badly put onto the body with paint.

Not that I know of, especially as many artists experimented in digital/traditional media on the fly over the years. There is a list of 100% digital artists on OMA and once you start researching the topic you figure out who works in Photoshop and who doesn't. Is there any art in particular that you are wondering about?

I know you said only one, but I have it narrowed down to 2 from my mono blue tiny leader's deck. Braintstorm, from Conspiracy or high tide from Amy Weber from Fallen Empires. Hopefully I don't get any hate on these choices, just my personal opinion.

I was drooling for most of the video over this art which I would love to have and appreciate almost everyday. But then reality slapped me back to the real world. Guay and Staple's probably isn't cheap and angels as you said command a higher price for obvious reasons (but they are my favorite :/)

I don't really care for originals but I've been bummed out to find out that some artists won't even sell prints. I wanted to get an Ashling the Pilgrim for my wife only to find that Wayne Reynolds only sell SOME prints at conventions. It's a bit of a bummer.

MTG definitely has the best art. Brom is my favorite fantasy artist and did works like Gristle Brand and Lord of the Undying but Requiem Angle has to be my favorite magic art.

@TolarianCommunityCollege Hello. I bought some Dragon shield sleeves off of your recommendation. I did your test of strength on them because I had to see it with my own eyes. Not only did the dragon shield FAIL to hold up its strength it was in fact EASIER for me to break my dragon shield then my Ultra pro sleeves. I bought the Dragon shield Black sleeves and as of right now. The Dragon shield sleeves have a F-- in my book. Can you explain what is going on?
