I had a chance to buy a really nice 1st gen (not a Z/28) in the late 80s for the princely sum of $3500. I passed, I was 19 and had the money but wanted something that would get good fuel mileage. Been regretting that one for a while.

Many things on restored cars are not authentic. Not one "restored" '69 Camaro ever has 307 emblems on them, do they? But I remember that most of them were exactly that. My whole suspicion about that green car, judging by seeing the interior, is that it was probably an original RS 307 or RS 350, made to look like a Z28 in every other way. You can change or re-do ANYTHING in a half-century!

These days there are more 69’ z28’s out there than gm ever produced. However it’s fairly easy to tell a legitimate z car by looking for certain items only a z would have. It also depends on the date of production and which factory the car was produced. Los Angles built cars and very early Norwood cars are very difficult to verify without proper documentation. But if his car is a Norwood car built after dec 68’ it’d have x codes. With it being a rs Z28 model it’d have a x33 code on the trim tag. Base model z’s without rs or style trim package were x77 cars. I’ve passed on many early Norwood cars due to a lack of documentation. People are getting better at faking engine stamps these days. As long as it’s a Norwood car and built after dec 68’ I believe it should have the proper x codes. Not saying those things can’t be swapped or faked either but with experience you can tell the differences on the chassis.

I liked the silver Z that was a really nice car! I have owned a Lemans Blue RS/Z & a Green RS/Z like yours. However for me the most desirable color is either Daytona Yellow RS/Z or Cortez Silver RS/Z! If I was in the market those would be the two that would interest me the most!

You would really have to get into the meat of these cars to put a real value on them for those that really know what they are looking at. Just a quick glance at the green one I can tell you the rear stripes are not correct for a non vinyl top car so it's going to require some expensive paint work to correct. Exhaust is incorrect. Really need to see trim tags and the production date is important to at least verify build time frames to know if things are correct for the car, like the ZL1 hood and spoilers for instance. The first blue car is missing some of the style trim outside (drip rails) yet has the quarter gills and wheel well trim. Like it can't decide if it wants to be an X77 or an X33. The 302 emblems on the hood are in the wrong spot, telling me it's probably an add on ZL2 setup and another clue to that is the fact that it has the early 68 spoiler which is an early production tell tale, telling me it's likely the car was built before the ZL2 hood was even available. Again need to see the trim tag. Second blue car is the same way with the style trim, Some of it there and missing drip rails, but has non style trim tail lights so it's likely an X77. Both of them have the wrong master cylinder. The green and blue cars don't have correct tires either. I wouldn't call the first 3 high end restorations but very nice quality drivers. The silver Z we know production date thanks to the serial number, and it's too early to have the ZL2 hood so that was added, also the wrong rear spoiler, it should be the 68 style, so it's likely been added and not a real factory spoiler car. This one at least made an attempt at tires but still wrong, they should be Wide Tread GT's in E-70's, not Polyglass. All these things and likely more would be pointed out on Jerry's report if you look at the important pages. They will hurt resale value. You really have to see these cars in person to determine value and get down to the details. These reasons are why prices are all over the place on these cars and likely why the first 2 blue ones were a no sale. The silver one missed the mark likely for the things I mentioned incorrect on the car, and that's just what I saw in the video. A really good 69 Z, born with drivetrain, and with it's real trim tag, a very correct restoration and true to it's build date can fetch 6 figures very easily. Those are the ones that rarely come up for sale but when they do, buyers know it and the prices reflect that.

The second blue Z/28 is missing the stainless trim that goes on the drip rails which it should have since it has the stainless trim wheel well rear quarter panel mouldings !
@kennydemartini21692 жыл бұрын
It should have the trim around the headlight bezels and between the taillight lenses too. I'm thinking it's not a style trim car and someone added the trim. Blue car #1 has the stripes all wrong and the Z/28 badges in the wrong spot.

What do you mean by 2 plus? Is that a grading system? And what is the maximum?
@americandreamgarage3054 Жыл бұрын
Many car value guides but mainly Hagerty use a 1 to 5 scale, with a 1 being Concours, or better than new with everything being perfect down to every nut and bolt. When I say 2+ or 1 - im saying it is falling in between those numbers. With only a 5 number scale there is a lot of space in between. A 2+/1- is a fresh restoration which looks perfect but there are things are not done correctly, or there are some signs of use.
