Yes, me too. I absolutely love it! I have been using iPhone since 2010 and love it still. With the improvements and greater range of voices which are coming in the next update it will be even better. I'm so excited about having the Jaws voices on the phone at last.

Voiceover is my favorite. I have been using Macs now for 7 years and Voiceover has been my favorite. And with IOS 16 and MacOS 13 about to get new voices, all the reason to stay with Apple.

Exactly, I cannot wait to have the Jaws voices especially. VoiceOver is the best program and Apple is always so wonderful at including accessability in their products.

Just FYI, I'm from the USA so once my I-Phone and Mac update, I'll be using Zoey. Suggestion. I noticed your from Australia. Havr you ever consitered Mitilda? She's AUS as well.

Voiceover happens to be my favorite screen reader as well. I like jars for windows, but I’m actually recycling my aging windows PC, because I’m really getting sick and tired of having to pay to keep guys up-to-date. But you might be interested to know that Apple has been putting accessibility into their products for decades. In my elementary school days, this would’ve been back in 1992 and earlier, I had a bit of early experience with a screen reader on an older Mac called Outspoken. So one reason that voiceover is so good, is because Apple has had decades of experience when it comes to accessibility. Oh, and by the way, I think you have a nice voice.

Yes, I did know that Apple were putting accessibility features in their products from an early time, they've always been the best at it.

I’ve been looking for a video on this subject. Learning screen readers are new to me in the past year. I have NVDA & JAWS on my computer and voice over on my phone. NVDA & JAWS seem overwhelming. But, I am learning. I also just started learning Braille.

Good luck and best wishes for your journey learning to use screen readers and braille. I am a technology and braille trainer by day so if there’s anything I can do to help you, let me know.

Voiceover is great, use it on my iPhone. On my PC, I use NVDA. I used to use Jaws when I was in school, but haven't since as I don't really want to pay for it. There's not much Jaws can do that NVDA can't, just a bit different.

Thank you for your comment. I truly believe that, with everything that is out there, voiceover is definitely the best. I was very fortunate that I was able to get a license key for Jaws and I didn’t have to pay for it at the time because it was part of my mothers five keys when she installed it on her computer. Since then, because of the national disability insurance scheme we have here in Australia, I have been able to pay for a new jaws license when required.

Say anything, jaws has so much lagging problem, which hasn't on NVDA. My favourite screen reader is nvda

There’s something else that I meant to tell you when I made my first comment. And yes, I really didn’t mean it when I said you had a nice voice. It actually reminds me of a friend of mine from high school who was actually a student aid who was assisting my aid. But what made me decide to comment initially is because just this past week, I got a brand new 13 inch MacBook error with the new M1 chip. Put it this way. If you don’t have a Mac with an M1 ship, I highly recommend it. It is crazy fast, and best of all, there is very little danger of the computer overheating unless you’re doing things like video rendering. But are you from Australia or something? I was just wondering. The friend that you remind me of his from the states, but except for the accent, you sound just like her.

Does Zoom text count?
@melStephens1994
@melStephens1994 5 жыл бұрын
Yes, it does. It has a voice function so I think it is a screen reader as well. However, I clearly couldn’t cover all of them in a video and I also have never used Zoom text

Zoomtext is a magnifier so it's not really a screen reader even though it has a text to speech function.

Actually, the dictation software that I used to add my last comment made a mistake. What I meant to say was, I really did mean what I said when I said you had a nice voice. The VR software substituted the word didn’t instead of did. As a matter fact, just as I wrote this, I had to do a few corrections. Anyways, the student that you remind me of from back when I was in high school, her name was Joanne Colburn, and she was assigned to assist my aid when it came to materials prep. As for where you’re from, I’ve heard some very interesting things, not least of which are the creatures that live there. I’ve always wondered what it would be like to hug a kangaroo. Hopefully I’ll get to see one before they’re all wiped off the face of the planet. In the meantime, I would invite you to look me up on Facebook. You can find me under the name Ryan Miller, and I live in Cincinnati Ohio.

The only thing I can’t stand with voiceover is that you have to double tap to type a letter.
@melStephens1994
@melStephens1994 5 жыл бұрын
No, there are several different ways of writing with V/O. Yes, you can double tap a letter, but as you say it's very annoying. You can change the typing mode so you can just put a finger on the letter you want, and by lifting your finger you type that character. You can also do direct touch typing which basically means typing the way sighted people do. Or, you can use my favourite if you're a Braille user and do "Braille screen input. If you like you can contact me on FaceBook messenger and I can talk you through these different options.
@InspirationEmPire25

Mel’s Blind Life I usually just type. I don’t really use V/O unless I really need to. It’s kind of a last resort. But obviously on a laptop I would use a screen reader
