I believe his semblance is similar to that of one for all and the avatar state. Think about it. Oscar has not just one soul. But multiple souls stored inside his body. One of which is most certainly the warrior king of Vale. Another is Ozpin and another is Ozma. So that being the case and the fact that Oz himself said that he still has magic but it's finite and dwindling down? I imagine oscar will be able to boost his physical stats immensely by channeling the aura of those who came before. Once he fully embraces he is the next in line to help save the world he will likely unlock his semblance because he isn't trying to run from the past or reject Oz anymore Once he makes peace with Oz I imagine he will also gain access to what little magic oz has left because remember this man went toe to toe with Cinder and even though he lost? He still held his own against her and that's nothing to snuff at. So yeah. I would call his semblance United Soul.

I quite liked Phoenix's theory, that it'd be something akin to an aura-locking, being able to temporarily nullify/prevent other semblances from triggering. personally, I think that he might get something in the realm of charming people, perhaps something like "Suggestion". he's been showing more and more social skills over vol 7, and in the climax of vol 5, he seemed to default to trying to talk the problem through with Hazel. I think it'd be interesting to see a social power come up, particularly because it'd be so powerful against most of their current enemies. imagine being able to say "Tell me your plan" to Watts and having him rattle it off, or "Lay down your weapons" to Emerald and Mercury. it'd mean he'd be (theoretically) able to even command Salem to stop her fight. (maybe even Jaune amplifying it to make it affect her)

Oscar is a very caring, sensitive guy so my theory is that he is an empath. Kind of like Deanna Troi from Star Trek:TNG. He could sense an opponents attacks before they even make them.

I politely disagree with all of this theory. First and foremost, semblances are a reflection of the soul of a person, an aspect of them in some way. It doesn't actually sound like that was taken into account, rather you were just like "well, they need a tech guy" and slapped technopathy on him. It doesn't work for him as a character and it honestly (as bad as rwby is about it) can't even be a plot device because they are going to leave atlas. While not all semblances are directly combat based, they won't give him something like technopathy because it's very limited use both in their current setting and overall for where the story is going. The earth thing doesn't work either because as pointed out, they have dust, and none of the elemental based semblances we've seen are element manipulation in and of themselves, just use it in a way, unless it's an uncommon element. (Nora doesn't generate or manipulate electricity, it just becomes strength/cinder manipulates heat to turn things to glass/etc etc) and it wouldn't make sense to give someone a directly elemental semblance anyway because dust exist Time manipulation would work for ozpin but not Oscar. My best bet as to what Oscar's semblance could be, based on how he is now, is actually what people were theorizing for Jaune. He isn't the best fighter and probably won't be/at least for years, so it would make more sense for him to have a leadership/support/buff type semblance that boosts moral/helps other focus more or the like. It would make sense as a character for him, as he is basically the "I don't want to be the hero" type protagonist and would hell get him more into a bigger role in the group and in the show because now he has to help/is the only one that can help in that way and works with his "I don't want to do this but I will for the world"

A moral semblance! Brilliant! Like how Ren can mask emotions so people cant be detected by grimm, Oscar could have a sort of semblance that allows greater focus, or boosts courage. This could be very useful in a situation of say, Ruby needs to use her silver eyes, but because of what Salem said, she keeps thinking of her mother and cant use her eyes. In steps Oscar to help her out and boom

None of these ideas necessarily work. The techno idea calls flat as you claimed to have hints and evidence for it. Yet all you specified was the environment they are currently in. Oscar however has not had a good time with Tech. From needing Hazel to provide a ticket for him to needing Ozpin to help guide him in piloting the Manta. He has shown the opposite rather. The earth idea is just shallow. And time manipulation falls flat because that is already an aspect of his weapon. Long Memory was stated to store time in the volume 3 commentary. It would be quite the plot convenient coincidence for him to have a semblance that has the exact same feature as the weapon he inherited. I don't feel like Oscar is really meant for the front line. His semblance may be some form of commanding. Not quite like Marrow but a method of rallying those under him like the leader of.the world he is meant to be. Swaying others with his voice possibly.

I think time manipulation makes the most sense, Oz appeared to do something similar in his fight with Volume 3. I admit that elemental semblances are honestly more likely than people think but I don't see him as an earth bender. Technopath... Yeah, sorry I don't see it at all. Oscar can't even get a ticket machine to work (volume 4) much less reprogram a robot, so far his only successes with technology (that I can recall) is when he successfully monitored Jaune's aura with his scroll (volume 7) and when he walked away from a plane crash (volume 6). Definitely a semblance I'd love to see but it feels more like a Watts thing.

I think Oscars semblance would be similar or the same as ozpin seeing as they are now together and their souls will combine. As we saw for a brief moment in the fight ozpin v cinder ozpin had what looked like a forcefield and he could somewhat absorb attacks then attack quicker I believe but I don't know if thats just because he's had so much experience his aura can extend outside his body

My running theory is that Oscar will have the same semblance that all the Oz reincarnations have, whatever that may be. Ozpin showed a unique power during his last fight (With Cinder) which could be a spell OR a semblance. It appears similar to superspeed, but somehow much faster and more precise, as if there is less momentum. Because of this, the clockwork motif, and the technological state of the locations, I predict Oscar's semblance will be time manipulation, or at least slowing down time relative to himself. This also fits the immortality, reincarnation, and story aesthetic.

The only thing I have against Oscar having a time-based semblance is Weiss’s time dilation. Much like what you said about him having a earthy semblance, having a time based semblance would be almost “copy and paste”. I think Oscar would suit a water semblance, as Ozpin died fighting Cinder; with Fire abilities, and literally her name is Cinder.

A possibility on more of an earth based semblance is hyper-accelerating plant growth. This fits both with his background and how we have seen him building himself and others up (even when Ozpin was unavailable).

Actually I thought about this and given a few things I believe it could be related to magic or malevolence. Let's back track a second and think about what we know about semblance unlocks. Typically they come as a need to a response, as you stated in this video and because of that being in a fight with Cinder especially in the final episode of this Volume and him not having the power to beat her, especially if she somehow gets the Winter maiden power. Using his aura to make more magic for Ozpin to do more magic and give a power boost to someone/take away maiden powers/curse Cinder in some way would come in handy. Since we also know magic is finite now this would actually give Ozpin an edge over Salem. PLUS it would add another layer to Oscar's arc as he tries to learn how to use magic. This also does fit with him being Princess Ozma. The second idea is the ability to absorb/destroy negative emotions. If this was his semblance also works well based entirely on the fact that Oscar is a pretty nice dude and reminds me of Sorey of Tales of Zesteria. If Oscar can absorb and/or destroy negativity he can potentially cleanse Salem and she might finally learn her lesson and die. This, however may cause Oscar's own death, the death of Ozpin sacrificing himself to save Oscar, or Oscar being evil and needing to be killed. This semblance may also help in bringing former enemies to the good side, especially Hazel as Hazel is a good person who just hates Ozpin but holds nothing against Oscar. Oh I'm a a few days late...well I tried to make this popular.

ngl though I think oscar's semblance is time leap. Basically able to make an attack go into the past, and being able to go to the past and future, although there is a limit to how far he could go it could be amplified by aura. the reason why I think this is his semblance is because of how he transferred from a farm boy to a fricking combatant. Leaping through time like that is incredible. But also it defines his personality and wants to go to his old life, but heads to the future instead.

Well these are good theories but I think oscars semblance will be related to magic and time just like the gliffs but it will have a direct atack and defence against the opponent to take a fraction of their aura and combine with his to atack using speed from ruby because if he takes a fraction of their aura he also takes part of their semblance so this might happen Oscar sees Ruby’s special eyes power not work so he hasn’t to defend her while the others are helping fight wats and leaving her alone with Oscar to fight and they find an evolved grim made of apathy and ursa Mager which would be bad so he would rush in then his eyes glow a bright amber then he uses petal burst and amplifys the magic power and speed from the atack

Couldn't Oscar's Semblance be the ability of creating a momentarily body of one of Ozpin's reincarnation like Headmaster Ozpin or just the first body Ozma? Then Ozpin can transfer his soul to the body and fight alongside Oscar with his magic.. He might not have a semblance. If semblances are the small remaining magic inside humanity (don’t know if true, my theory), then he might just have magic. I mean Ozpin still had magic because he made Qrow and Raven into birds so it might be so that neither Ozpin or Oscar had/have a semblance. They might cover it up in front of other people by saying his semblance is called Magic or make him only use one ability and pretend it’s his semblance.

I remember one theory I had. I'm not sure how right it is now but I still thought I'd share it anyway. That his semblance is misfortune. When we first meet Oscar in volume 4 for the most part things seem to be going wrong for him. According to his aunt he keeps having incidents with the farm tools, when he tried to buy a train ticket, the machine just so happened to be broken, he just seemed to have the worse luck. He might of unlocked his semblance without even knowing it. (Now you could argue that Qrow is Oscar's biological father, but that, I think is an entirely different rabbit hole for another day)

Anna Barnes Not a bad theory. In terms of that meaning Qrow is Oscar’s father, it has very little ground to stand on. The only semblance we know of that’s hereditary is Glyphs (Schnee semblance). There could be others, but it has been stated that it is EXTREMELY rare for a semblance to be hereditary.

Personally I wonder if being a vessel for Ozma/Ozpin has any impact on aura and semblance, For example aura is the manifestation of the soul so if Oscar is host to two souls does this mean he has two auras? does it matter who is in control at the time or can either person access each aura? Would this apply to semblances in the sense that Oscar would have both his own semblance and Ozpins, or is it a case that Ozpin's vessels are influenced to a greater degree than simply inheriting his muscle memory, for example does Ozpin's aura stack with his vessels and if so does this carry from vessel to vessel gaining strength like one for all or does it differ vessel to vessel. Is Oscar a more or less powerful vessel that his predecessors and if so how is that determined. Finally as with Aura does the vessel, Oscar in this case, also gain Ozpin's semblance or does Ozpin affect the kind of semblance they will develop, it is stated in volume 5 that no one knows how a persons semblance is determined and that there are many theories including the theory that it is what you need at the time. Sorry if this was a bit long winded but I love RWBY and the whole Oscarpin thing has always intrigued me and having watched the video I wanted to share my thoughts and see what people think.

Oscar shouldn't just have a semblance of magic. Because of his connection to Ozpin's soul, Oscar should have full Salem/Maden/pre-apocolyptic human magic. I don't know what Oscar would have had Ozma never joined with him, but he has, so Oscar should get full magic, not just a semblance of magic.

My thoughts are MAYBE oscar won't get a semblance, but instead Ozpin will come back and teach him how to use Magic, or he will get memories of the past that will allow him to remember what it's like to use Magic so he can train himself.

My favorite colors are blue, black, red and purple I hate small spaces I am Bisexual and go by They/Them pronouns My favorite RWBY characters are Qrow, James, Neo, Winter, Robin, Tyrian, Watts, Hazel, and Whitley - this is because all of their characters are insanely well thought out and have very interesting story lines, Merc, Emerald, Raven, team RWBY and JNR as well as the Ace Ops, Maria, Salem, Pietro, and even Summer Rose are all very close to those though My least favorite RWBY characters are Cinder and Tai - mainly because they haven't...
