Well, thanks a ton! At this rapid age where going deeper is unappreciated, I very much stay on the "go deeper" side and loved the video more after 4:00. Not a medical professional- just interested in how things work and most commonly used drugs are a perfect example.

The dehydration and losing electrolytes can give you a headache too. I know from having undiagnosed MCAD, which caused a reaction (nasty stomach issues that’s tmi) to gluten. I have loads of allergies but hadn’t realised. My gps weren’t taking any notice. Slimming world diet cracked the ‘case’ because soft fluffy white bread is naughty on that plan. But from all that I’ve realised that I was severely dehydrated and why & my electrolytes were really low too. Causing fever and headaches, oddly the fever symptoms don’t show on a thermometer… Hope you feel better soon, those symptoms make life miserable

@@lilacscentedfushias1852 thanks buddy, I overcame within a day. I was sipping on electrolytes all day but what really sealed the deal was the paracetamol

“NAC” (N-Acetyle Cysteine) is beneficial for paracetamol toxicity/overdose. I’d recommend having some on hand, it boosts your glutathione production rapidly, and it’s great for general daily health too.

I can probably explain that… You were probably tired from a combination of being exhausted from the pain during the day & possibly the night before you lost sleep length & quality as a result of the pain. Then the paracetamol made the pain at least manageable, so you slept well 😁

What is the most common cause of liver failure in the USA ?
@TheStealthDoctor Жыл бұрын
You win Jeopardy my friend. Though only 'acute' failure. Here are some facts: Aetiology varies significantly between different parts of the world. In the UK and the US, paracetamol overdose is the most common aetiology of ALF. Analysis of 2614 adult patients prospectively enrolled in the US Acute Liver Failure Study Group (ALFSG) between 1998 and 2019 showed that paracetamol hepatotoxicity accounts for approximately 46% of all cases. Paracetamol overdose accounts for nearly 66% of ALF cases in the UK. Paracetamol overdose appears to be equally divided between intentional and unintentional cases. Other causes of ALF include idiosyncratic drug-induced liver injury (11%), acute hepatitis B (7%), autoimmune hepatitis (7%), ischaemic hepatitis (7%), and acute hepatitis A (1%). Up to 12% of cases remain indeterminate.

If a medication is frequently used it makes sense for it to be a simpler and easy to pronounce name. That’s just common sense, ask most people what the names of their reoccurring prescription medications are and the can’t. Why? Because they’re long, difficult to pronounce Latin names, particularly the less well known ones. Ask them to tell you what they’re prescribed for then you probably aren’t going to get a precise, informative description as most people don’t have a clue. Which, to me sounds crazy as I always read the leaflet in the medication box & also research it myself from trusted sources.
