This video is to give you the fundamental knowledge of PWHT. Why, when, How to do it? Where is required? What we must follow? What we should not do during PWHT? Basically PWHT of the weld to relieve the residual stresses developed during welding. Residual stress contributes to the early failure of a welded part - so we must remove it for especially thicker Carbon steel welded components. Please go through the full video to clear your queries.

Regularly Watching your videos in this channel. Hatsoff to you! Doing PWHT before RT is OK? because if there is any repair in welded joints we have to attend as per Qc instructions I didn't get any data reg this sequence-RT before or after PWHT. Please advice sir!

Thanks Mr Naveen. I am grateful that you are achieving something from my knowledge sharing videos. Actually PWHT has to be done after welding. Contractor is doing RT before PWHT- is only to ensure- that not mandatory and only to assure that the joint has no repair. If you have good performance of welders, you can always do RT after PWHT- nobody can stop you.

Is there any pipe thickness condition for PWHT

Please refer ASME Section IX - Beforee it was 20 mm and above. But latest standard is changed- you need refer the table for it. For ASME B31.4 and B31.8, means for pipeline , PWHT is required if pipe thickness is more than 1-1/4 inch or 32 mm
