Hi! May I add acrylic paint as a binder or acrylic mediums and gels? Rather than experiment, I’d like to be sure it won’t peel off if I take the time to create a painting with it.

Looking forward to the answer on whether or not acrylic paint or another acrylic medium can be a binder

Hi sorry for the delay getting back to you! ☺ yes acrylic paints or other acrylic mediums will work to bind the wax 😜😉

Hi there! Love your video. I usually work with oil and cold wax which has to be applied to a rigid substrate, such as a cradled board. Can I use Powertex mixed with acrylic paints on gallery wrapped canvas without worrying that it will crack? Thank you in advance. ☺

Working with Powertex Art Supplies makes the canvas more and rigid as you proceed…. Powertex Ultimate Medium is 3 in 1 - a hardener, paint & glue making it incredibly versatile… some of the products in the range are designed to give incredible cracks 😜 I have worked on gallery wrapped canvases for many years with great success… I do love working on a rigid substrate like cradled board as I can push onto it without it moving… if I’m working on canvas I need to work more gently or put something underneath the canvas to make it rigid while I work 😜🌸I hope that’s helpful 😉😊🤩

@@powertexaustralia9230 ..Thank you for your response. my concern is that, since canvas has natural flexibility (it's fabric), it will expand, contract, loosen over time. Oil paint alone is not a problem, but oils with cold wax added ARE a potential problem since wax dries and cures to a pretty inflexible finish. This is why I use cradled boards for oil and cold wax. My question was can I use Powertex mixed with acrylics on canvas as opposed to cradled board? I am not talking about making sure the canvas is on a rigid surface while I'm working. I am asking whether or not this product mixed with acrylics and applied to a canvas will crack over time since canvas is flexible and dried acrylics are not.

Why does this wax have ting bubbles in it?. At least mine does. I mix it with acrylic paint and it is almost like I get a sand look. Any Idea what I am doing wrong? I mix it into my paint, but even alone it has that bubbly look.

A question. Using these materials on canvas (i.e. powerwax + additional binder) is it possible to roll up the finished artwork and store it in a tube without the surface cracking up and splitting?
@powertexaustralia9230 Жыл бұрын
Hey there... I don't think the surface would roll easily and may get damaged as its similar to an encaustic surface... I will check and revert with more details... thanks for your question! 😜
@powertexaustralia9230 Жыл бұрын
Brigitte Grade from Powertex International has advised that it should be fine to roll up as the product stays quite flexible even where you have used Powertex Ultimate Medium as a binder... Personally I have found the surface a little susceptible to scratching so would cover with a glycine paper and test how it rolls 😜

Does the finished Powerwax painting need to be varnished with eg: liqitex varnish? Or does the wax create it's own protection?
@powertexaustralia9230 Жыл бұрын
Hi Shirley... no it doesn't need to be varnished you would loose the wax look of the finish... you can use a soft cloth to seal & buff the wax after a week of drying... ☺

Does it have smoothness when completely dry or is it slightly tacky (Mod Podge like)?

Powerwax gets an encaustic wax like finish… able to be polished with a soft cloth after a week to seal 😊it’s lovely to work with

Great video. Very professional. I love everything wax and just picked this product up. In regards of mixing binder into the wax, how much transparent powertex do you need to add? What would the ratio be? Do you need to varnish/seal after applying to your artwork since the transparent powertex is not waterproof? Keep up the great work!
@powertexaustralia92302 жыл бұрын
Thanks… I’m glad you enjoyed it… I don’t really have an exact ratio that I work with and I don’t seal the transparent… I’ll try to get more specific information for you 😊

I’ve ordered the powerwax product to mix with my water soluble oil paints. If I’m mixing this in my water soluble paints to create abstract paintings. Do I need the binder product as well or can I get by with just using the power wax?

@@laytonchavis1220 the water based oil has a binder in it which should be enough for working with the wax 😊 you can also add a little transparent Powertex if necessary 😜I hope that helps
