I've been curious on the subject for a while but never really bothered to check it properly. I'd like to see how Windows VMs are managed using QEMU and what are the differences vs say VirtualBox. Thank you for making these videos, I'll be following this series for sure!

I'm preparing to build a new system powerful enough to use Linux and Windows simultaneously, and intend to use Windows for gaming. My biggest interest is getting Windows 10 set up in a VM for PCIe passthrough so I can give the guest direct access to one of the RX480s in it. If you go through installing Windows 7 or 8.1 in a QEMU VM, I'd love it if there was at least a small section to discuss any quirks with Windows 10 in a situation like this (if any). I also have only one monitor. It is a nice monitor with a lot of space, but I don't have the budget to get a second monitor. I'd love to see a video about different approaches to QEMU VMs with GPU passthrough working on one monitor.

I just run photoshop CS5 under Wine in linux, and for video editing I use Blender. There are many video editors to try but unfortunately they are 64bit and I have an old 32bit laptop. There is Natron Fusion8 and Shotcut that do linux versions but Natron needs a more powerful pc, Fusion and Shotcut is only for 64bit

Depending on which games you want to play, it may be better to just use Proton and run them as though they were native. Of course that works better for steam games, but hey, it just works.

I recently switched from Arch linux to Peppermint 7 respin. I installed Windows 10 via VMware and installed all my Windows 10 steam games, mainly Dead Rising 2 which was unplayable in Virtualbox and Gnome-boxes. My question is how is the GPU performance for gaming in Qemu? I'm thinking of getting an RX460 4GB card so i'll have more GPU Gigs to give to the virtual machine.

Hey Antoun, loved your intro at 1080p and 60fps (Cool!). Didn't know that QEMU outperforms VBox and VMWare (Cool too!) Please show us a step-by-step tutorial on how to install Android (Android-x86 / Remix OS / or plain Android if it's possible) inside QEMU and how to set up shared folders between guest and host. I have Ubuntu 17.04 installed.

Your tutorials where the reason I chosen Arch Linux as my daily use distro. The one and only reason I couldn’t switch entirely is, that I´m using Windows and macOS as well. Personally I would like to see how to get macOS running in QEMU/KVM, but that’s to special I guess. So Windows with path through Hardware would be great (Graphics or Sound Card)

I have Linux Mint as my daily driver OS but i have a few VMs using QEMU/KVM. Like macOS high sierra, Windows 8.1 and my favourite Kali Linux with my usb wifi passed through to VM for network stuff. :-). Awesome piece of software

I installed Windows with emu and it feels so much faster than in Virtual Box. I use Arch as my operating system, but would need windows for the weird occasion. But for that I need to have a shared folder which I just can't get to work. Any help how to make a shared folder working?

Yeah, thats what has been limiting the tutorial because I want to show how to setup folder sharing some way but have been having problems with getting it setup properly.

you have near native performance, because you are emulating (almost) nothing qemu supports KVM and does it quietly it was case then and it case now

The performance without KVM is bad, very bad, qemu tries to emulate everything which makes it slow. I am not an expert but this is what i think becuase i had a recent experience with qemu
