Thank you god for an actual explaination of whats going on. I have watched a bunch of videos claiming to explain what quantum teleportation is and all you could actually claim to know after watching them is that something like it is possible not a decent summary of the steps involved. Does leave me with a question though... how much information needs to go over the relativistic communication channel?

The receiver has only 1 chance to check his box (checking the qustate destroys it, or rather the entanglement. The sender has to inform about the right time to check.

Jade and Tibees, physical mass teleportation (only man-made matter like cars, etc.) and nuclear fusion power has same structure. figure that out and you unleash both their power for harnessing. key word, stabilization. if it’s still it gets unstable. it has to move in order stabilze, so don’t stabilize it.

Up and Atom I'm just an armchair scientist - chef by day. Physics and astronomy have always been of pretty high intrest to me. I have a pretty decent understanding of the physical and mechanical side of things, just have always seemed to have a mental block with numbers, so the math behind it all kept me on a different path. But I still love absorbing all the info I can!

Up and Atom Pretty much everything. Astrophysics would be the deepest intrest, but what I'm looking into the most recently is the quantum side of things, as it's the most confounding and least understood. I'd say if there's one aspect that captures my attention most of all, it would be the combination of them - black holes and singularities. What goes on at that one point in space is so maddening to think about.

+Joshua Satterwhite quantum physics is so amazing isn't it?! It's actually super incredible when you go more in-depth. The way the math kind of just works out and tells you things. I don't actually know too much about black holes and singularities except for that they are way outta my league haha. I'll make sure to keep that in mind and maybe make a couple videos about them, although it's kind of been done to death so I'll have to somehow put a new spin on it

Information sent normally for a short distance (from a qubit reader to a monitor) is still going to be faster over great distances than information sent normally for that entire distance. If you picture the distance is infinite than it would never reach the other side by normal methods, but it would reach the other end through normal+qubit+normal... if this theory of quantum entanglement is true...

Quite a great video. Only let-down was that you mislabelled the theorem at 6:47, it's called the *No-Communication Theorem*, which is just one example of the class of "No-Go Theorems".

what if we manage to gain an access to higher dimensions? will we be able to skip distance in 3 dimensions by moving trough dimensions 4-6? ofc if higher spatial dimensions exist

In Quantum teleportation, distance is independent.Then the transfer of data must be faster than light to achieve it. And, " Data of two particles is transferred by Spooky action, which means the data transferrs faster than light speed " , Einstein says. And One doubt,photon has Mass?

It's awesome how your cats look kinda like cat versions of the two of you. Anyway if we ever did figure out how to teleport large objects, I still don't think it would be a great idea to teleport a living thing. For all intents and purposes you'd basically just be annihilating the living thing and creating a clone in another location that picks up where the (now deceased) living being left off. If you imagine the subjective experience of being a person using that teleportation device, I would think once you activate it, you just die and everything goes blank (assuming of course, that there is no afterlife) and the version of you that comes out in another location would simply seem like it were you to everyone else because it was just created with all your physical features and memories. Maybe that wouldn't be the case, but that to even imagine that it were not the case raises some heavy philosophical/scientific questions about what it even means to exist as the same conscious entity from moment to moment.

I think you kinda glossed over the no-go theorem. What kind of communication is needed, what is it exactly needed for, and what slows the information down, so it will fit relativity? If the spin is determined instantly on both particles, Then how does that NOT allow faster than light communication? It's would be cool if you made a video, explaining it a bit more. Thanks for the knowledge

+Defekto yeah I guess I glossed over the no-go theorem and superluminal communication stuff because I didn't want the video to be too long. Would you like a video about superluminal communication and why it's not possible? And Re: if the spin is determined on both particles how is that not faster than light communication - the entangled particles collapse instantly, but we can't actually do anything useful with this. We can't choose which way either of them will collapse, so we can't make any kind of message. So even though the collapse is faster than light, it is not communication. Does that makes sense?

Yes, i would love an in-depth video about that, if it's not way to complicated for this channel :p Wouldn't it always be the opposite of the other entangled particle? So if we observe a spin in our box before it collapses, we can deduce what the other particles spin is? Or else i can't see how we can keep the conservation of energy.

+Defekto I'll add it to the list ;) And yes you're right, I was confused about that part too. So you're right in saying that by knowing the state of your own particle, you can immediately know the state of the other. But this isn't really communicating and can't really be used for anything useful. It's kind of like if you and me were in a room and there were two boxes, one with a piece of paper and one with nothing, and we both took one without knowing which was which, and then later when we opened one, if mine had nothing I would know you got the one with the paper, and vice versa. Yet there was no quantum business, and no useful information was really communicated, and we sure couldn't decide what little information was communicated anyway. Does that make sense?

Second entangled particle cannot collapse when the first collapses. Otherwise we would have faster then light information transmission

There is no information transmitted. The relativity principles are not violated. Transmission of information also means that there must be someone who takes note of it. That is not the case in quantum teleportation and this is the crux of the matter.

Btw I also came up with a thought experiment that seemingly violates the uncertainty principle. I did post it on PBS Space Time but I didn't get any response. So here it is: First, watch this video on the relativity of simultaneity: kzbin.info/www/bejne/raXImqiurtanpa8 Now, imagine the two edges of the train are lined with a detector each, one for measuring position, the other for measuring momentum. And replace the passenger with a quantum particle and the lightning bolts with a detection on each end. For the particle, the detections didn't occur simultaneously; meaning the position and momentum were measured at different times with high precision, but not violating the uncertainty principle. However, to the outside observer, the detections did occur simultaneously and both the position and the momentum of the particle were determined with high precision, violating the uncertainty principle. So how is that possible?

The uncertainty principle isn't actually about what you can measure. It's about what state a particle could be in. For example if it's in a superposition of a lot of different positions it can only have a superposition of a small number of different momenta and vice versa. I'm overly simplifying but you get the idea, it's in that state, weather you measure it or not. If quantum mechanics isn't confusing enough for you and you want to spice it up with a bit of relativity you could look at the Dirac equation and stuff around it.

It seemed that you implied that the uncertainty principle says that you can't measure both position and momentum with "high precision", and that the time at which you measure has something to do with it (of course when we talk about measurement here we mean measuring multiple particles that were prepared in the same manner). You could measure that a particle has one position and many momenta and the more measurements you make the higher your precision will be. On the other hand, if by high precision you meant that the measured range both the positions and the momenta is small, that would be closer to the uncertainty principle, again being the consequence of the actual state of the particle, but in that case measuring both observables with high precision would violate the uncertainty principle even in your fist example where the observer is inside the moving reference frame. It would be helpful if you explained how you exactly imagine the measurement of the particle and for now let's say that nothing is moving much, so no relativistic effects.

+Max Planck during college all of my beginner quantum physics books had a lot of math. I think it will be quite hard for you to find one with any. Even Richard Feynmann includes math in his explanations of quantum physics. You might want to try those "Quantum Physics for Dummies" series? I haven't read one on quantum physics but I read one about electrical circuits once and found it pretty easy to read. There were still equations in it though. Hope this helps!

Nice collab! I don't know on which video I should leave the comment so I'll just do it here since it was the first one that went up. Next time you could try quantum teleportation with Schrödinger's cat maybe it's more suited for that. If you think that his cat couldn't live this long just remember that the probability of an atom decaying never reaches 100% in finite time ;D Do you think it will be possible to "teleport" something simpler, like an apple where even if a couple of electrons have the opposite spin is still looks and tastes the same? Maybe even some simpler organisms, though I don't know about cats.

+Mc I do think it would be possible to teleport something simpler like an apple. But only in the way of scanning the structure and having it reassemble on the other side with pre-ready atoms. Like faxing something except the original copy would need to be destroyed. I think that's very possible. Who knows what the future holds...

This video is misleading. You can teleport "information" in an instant, but the "information" is random for the observer without knowledge over the observation on the other side. So saying: "information" is the misleading thing here because the stuff teleported is random and nothing more. Like a one time pad that also contains "information" because via xor you can recieve "any" message if you have true randomness.

Oh, right! The first part is "phreno-" is from Greek "phrenos" meaning "mind", then "myth" and suffixed by "-ic" like a "mystic". It is based on my movie interpretation method that I dubbed the "phrenomyth" as a play on the renowned "monomyth" by prof. Joseph Campbell. I explained it in my update video last summer, if you want to know more. :-) Is it an accessible channel name, you think, or a bit too weird? BTW I mentioned your channel to others and many got the reference to the Simpsons! :-)

You called her on the phone to tell her when to open the box. To transmit quantum data you first had to transmit classical bits. This limits the applicability.

I have a theory, Why Einstein may had been proven wrong in the future. Please consider. Speed of light being 299,792,458 m/s is said to be the fastest thing in the universe. Or is the fastest speed at which information can travel. Also proven by his equations where a mass of a photon is zero and can always be at a state of highest attainable speed. 1st hint: the universe is expanding at a speed faster than the speed of light. 2. Quantum entanglement 3. Black holes have gravitational pulls that even light cannot escape Einstein may have been right about light being the fastest carrier of information for the eyes to see and not other forms of information carriers/receivers that are yet to be discovered. And till date i believe that if the sun were to instantaneously disappear, the earth would lose orbit instantaneously and not after roughly 8 seconds. But I maybe wrong just a theory. Einstein hated quantum physics for a reason because it made him mad

Thumbs up for that. Secondly, if I may ask, why are you in the US? Thirdly, great video. As always. Not much for me to say. :P Fourthly, I kinda need your help with something. I've been reading the wikibook about special relativity and at one point, it says that the uncertainty principle is actually a consequence of SR and proceeds to derive the equation using Fourier transform of something. I didn't understand it because I have no knowledge of the Fourier transform. I looked up the derivation online but can't seem to find it being mentioned anywhere. I took down the black because I thought it would be weird having Toby in nature and then me in some random black land but I actually prefer the black. You don't like it? I've sometimes thought of switching to white but I think my animations stand out better on a black and I just think it looks cooler. Only problem is my stupid hair blending in. Even now that I've dyed it :( I'm in the US because my boyfriend got a job at carnegie melon (good university) so we came here together for that. Oh that's interesting? +Feystein 100 I think there's a good possibility you could get into a masters in physics even with an engineering background. People switch all over the place in academia, I mean as long as it's within science you should be fine. That being said you just need to be less picky with universities
