I am a woman and I know very well how women were humiliated in the pre-Islamic era, treated like slaves without any rights, then Islam came to justice and advocate the egality between gender in lots of things , not by the non religious people as you've just said ! If a child was born in a Muslim familly , he'll be a Muslim, if he was born in a Christian familly then he is a Christian And so on .. You can't say he is forced, it is just the religion of his ancestors ! I am not saying that you should follow them blindly.. It is clear that You have to reflect on God’s creation and find the truth. Also, killing people who convert !!! Where did you get this info from, I dare you to find any proof in The Quran saying that !! While in other religions you find it clearly ?! Deuteronomy [6: 6] says the Lord to the Jews: "If Odilk secretly your brother son of your mother, or your son or daughter, or your beloved, or intimate friend, saying: Let us go and worship other gods, curious about you and your fathers from the other gods of the peoples around you or far from you from the ends of the earth to the fullest, do not respond to him and listen To him, and your heart does not pity him, and do not be merciful to him, and do not disguise him. Rather, surely you KILL him, be careful. The rest of your people. Argmeh with stones until he dies "... Speaking of women rights , you said in my culture not in my religion, OK ! cause as far as I know : Judaism considers women the root of evil in the world, or is responsible for the first human sin; Because - by their claim - it is the reason that Adam, peace be upon him, came out of Heaven, and we see this clearly in the Torah: We will eat of the fruits of the trees of Paradise. As for the fruit of the tree in the midst of Paradise, God said: Do not eat from it and do not touch it; lest you die. The serpent said to the woman, You will not die. From her fruits, she ate and gave her husband also with her, and she ate ... And the Lord God, the serpent, said: You have done this. Cursed are you from all the beasts, and from all the wild beasts ... And he said to the woman: Increase the burden of your conception, with sorrow you give birth to children, and to your leg your longing will be, and it will reign over you ”(Genesis 3: 1-16). In Christianity we find that Paul: I think Eve was the one who first sinned, then Adam seduced and saved behind it and secondly (II Timothy 2: 12-14). Christianity has not been very supportive of women, historically speaking. Much of the time women have been denigrated and forced into a second-class status. This was true right from the earliest years of Christianity and has continued down through today. In modern Europe, the husband also had the right to sell his wife, and the wife was given the price of six daughters, and this law was enforced in England until the year 1805 AD. Henry VIII forbade Englishmen from reading the Bible, and the women of England remained, until 1850 CE, countless citizens, and until 1882 CE they had no personal rights, or the right to private property. !! Allah said: {And we have come to Adam before, and we have not forgotten him. And when we said to the angels, prostrate to Adam, and worship the devil except Abis. So, Adam, tell us that this is an enemy for you and your spouse, so they will not take you out of paradise, and you will suffer hard. You shall not be starved, nor be stripped. And you do not complain about it, nor sacrifice. Satan whispered to him, Adam, O Adam! Should I show you the immortal tree and a wearable king? So they ate it, and it seemed to them that they both died, and they separated them from the leaves of Heaven and disobeyed his Lord, [Taha: 115--121]. It is only in Islam Adam is the sinner not Hawa (Eve) ! You said women are free to do Absolutely what a man can do and please them self freely, first of all in islam even men can't do what ever they want, there are some lines they cannot across ! Do you call walking naked in streets, having sex before marriage, having children beyond marriage, taking drags, acting in porn movies, ... Etc etc is Freedom , if so I don't want it !! Just an advice from an imaginary friend as you said, If you want to know Islam , the real Islam , Just read the Quran with an opened heart, don't listen to media or taking some muslims actions as evidence , cause most of the muslims are just muslims by name !! And to that I am sorry !

Orthodox Christians fast for half of year (intermittently). Some of the restrictions are: don't eat any animal product, don't drink, don't fry food, don't have sex. From time to time, we undergo "black fasting", meaning not eating or drinking anything for 36 hours. It's hard, but it's also refreshing to push the boundaries of the body. Not to mention the psychological and spiritual effects. It's interesting to see Muslims have a similar tradition.

Some of my non muslim friends in my campus dorm always join me to have iftaar and wake me up for suhoor. 😆 I dont need my alarm sometimes to wake me up cuz I have them. Great from Indonesia. Yout explanation is very clear.

There is too much stereotyping on who Muslims are - the browns and yellows and coloreds and the blacks and the grey shades. I had undergone this experience myself. When I ate with my fingers at the kitchen of the university resident in the UK many ears ago, some white American foreign students (my hostel mates - John and Bill) used to call me a SAVAGE. This is interesting. Christians are also encouraged to fast while seeking God. But not like this. I think the typical I hear about is up to 48 consecutive hours. Others fast from a specific something that takes their focus away from God during Lent (the 40 days before easter). This can be anything, but is supposed to be something that takes your focus off God. I like why Muslims do this. I like how they focus on not just themselves but the others around them.
