Yes repenting is saying I'm a sinner please God forgive me. When I got cancer I turned to God and told him how sorry I was for hurting so many people and being selfish and forgetting him and asked him to forgive me and he saving me from all the lies in this world and from myself. He put the fear of God in me. All glory to God and his mercy and love!

Hi, Pastor Conway Praise the Lord I watched your second video in a study in repentance who struggle with assurance and you made it even clearer to me. I'm sorry with my first incomplete comment below. I also do not mean to cause confusion to fellow christians who truly repented. I believe all your quoting of the scriptures and interpretation of repentance. Let me just make myself clear to you too. I'm a christian too for so many years. I was baptized Roman Catholic at 9 and baptized as baptist at 12 and worshipped as Lutheran Christian for 42 years. I agree that true repentance is like as you say a change of mind, life, and having a new heart to completely turn around and away from sin 180 degree and the true transformation and regeneration is caused by the holy spirit by sanctification by Jesus Christ as being born again of the spirit. We show these to our fellow christian believers by a change of life by living, acting, speaking, and behaving like Christ. Jesus Christ deserve all the credits. We humans do not deserve anything but wrath and punishment. Repentance is a continuing process. We need to repent and ask the lord for forgiveness of our sins everyday because we sin everyday at least by thoughts, word, and action. Assurance of our salvation is by redemption of blood of Jesus Christ in the cross. As Martin Luther said we are justified by faith alone, grace alone, and scripture alone. I hope these clarify my comments somehow thank you.

Repentance involves a heart shift. When we sin it’s not just missing the mark. The Holy Spirit is grieved. It’s a decision based on a godly sorrow. It’s a matter of the whole heart. It is wrapped in grief and pain and the spirits conviction within the heart and mind. It involves utter honesty and confession to God, and walking out an amends which is evident to those around us. As in the Psalm 51. One may weep bitterly but his heart is far from God. It means to throw ourselves on the Mercy seat of Christ and surrendering ourselves to His total Lordship in our lives which reflects true humility and willingness to be corrected. We do a 180

@@chrisleromans5845 thank you brother, grace be to you. Yesterday was the day. I watched the the Satans Attacks against Christian assurance video by pastor Tim. Everything he said I have experienced since I came to Christ a few months ago. And I felt my spirit fully comprehended that Jesus is the only way to life. Our obedience doesn’t save us (though it’s necessary). Repentance (as Paul washer says) is simply realizing your sin, and giving up trying to save myself. I fully realized yesterday, if Jesus can’t save me. Nothing can. And I had assurance yesterday for the first time in my life. I felt a peace for the first time in my life that I didn’t know was possible. Jesus saved me. The journey is long. Endurance is necessary. The one who endures to the end will be saved. Today I was reading 1 John. I got to 2:20 “But you have been anointed by the Holy One, and you all have knowledge.” And as I read that verse, I looked outside of my window, and saw a bright red cardinal looking at me. Cardinals have always been a sign to my family about God being present in our lives. I’ve had a cardinal show up a few other times during my walk with Jesus during important situations. Jesus is Lord and I’m so thankful for His atoning work on the cross. I know the journey is hard and long. But it’s worth it to be with Jesus in the end. God bless you, and praise our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ!

I appeal to you to have your husband research his Augustine heritage with an open mind. I would not want to be in his awkward position of defending a theology founded single handedly by a man with prolonged indoctrination in three intensely pagan deterministic systems, who departed from centuries of orthodox teachings on free choice by appealing to "salvific" infant water baptism viewed from Stoic micromanaging determinism(that eternally damns newborns),who admitted he had departed from Christianity's centuries old free choice defense against pagans, rested his case on numerous Latin mistranslations (without knowing the Greek language), then followed Plotinus's defense appealing to the inscrutable counsel of the One (don.pers. 1/27,7;grat.et.lib.arb 41, 45, an.et or4.16 to explain the incomprehensible unreasonableness of his novel pagan-Christian syncrestic theology- Stoic/Neoplatonic/Manichean/Christian. In addition current Calvinistic interpretations of "deterministic" scripture passages are pagan interpretations brought into Christianity through Augustine. I invite him to you to consider the pre-Augustinian and Augustine's earlier, more firmly founded and universal perspective of a salvific free choice response, graciously offered by Christianity's sovereign God of grace. By the way this preacher here is a neo Calvinist he is not dividing the word of God properly. Two sites for the both of you Truthfellowshive.com start in the first sermon in Galatians and www.fathalone.com. I was a follower of Rome for 42 years so never cease praying for your husband.

@illbehonest5 жыл бұрын
Consider this... it sounds as if you are looking to "come to my senses" as some qualification you must meet in order to be qualified to be saved. Many people will think, "I need more grief!" And they try to get more grief as if more grief will make them savable... that is nothing other than a subtle works-based salvation. You come to your senses by coming to your senses and realizing you don't need to come to your senses more... you need to come to CHRIST... who will give you true sense and understanding. Jesus does not call you to prepare yourself more... but to come just as you are and to trust in Him... not to trust in yourself.
@kb277875 жыл бұрын
Short answer: you can't! You might as well ask a blind man to give himself sight. Jesus is exalted to give repentance as well as remission--you need to seek Him immediately and not wait to make yourself worthy enough to do so (understand then that God gives salvation purely sovereignly, and the best, deepest most sorrowful repentance in the holiest man is in itself incapable of making God one iota more inclined to give it! If you expect to bring repentance to God in exchange for His grace, then as the Canticles, say, it would be utterly despised).

@AJTramberg Жыл бұрын
I don't think they are completely synonymous. Repentance is coming to the realization that the garbage you've been dumping on your property is poisoning the ground water you drink from your well. Your entire attitude toward the handling of that garbage changes. To reconsider means to reexamine, that is what is done BEFORE repenting. You reconsider your position to see if it's correct, then make a CHANGE in thinking.

Repentance is to change. Yes, you’re mine, but turn to God. Many people think repentance is always attributed to stopping sinning. If that was the case, then why did God repent? Can you read the Bible God repented 39 times. He was going to do something he repented, and did something else. So it’s not always necessarily to stop sinning Jesus never told people to repent from your sins. You don’t find that at all in the Bible. It states that we have to repent and go towards God

Repenting never meant believing and God and not changing your behavior. When people repented they got baptized and put down their old life. That's the problem with divorcing baptism from salvation. To walk in newness of life you have to bury the old man. There is no picture of believing and not repenting of your sinful deeds found in the scriptures. Absolutely 0
