It's fascinating to me how similar this dance is to Bharat Natyam, a classical form of Indian dance my daughter took classes in for years, and yet it's still so totally individual.
@melissanelson34883 жыл бұрын
Romani Ancestors are from India so it makes sense you can see the Indian dance similarity.
@avnistar27032 жыл бұрын
It's not similar to Bharat Natyam! Wth you on about? Bharat Natyam is South Indian. Their dance is similar to North Indian dance mixed with Middle Eastern influences. Nothing to do with south India. South indians are a different race to North Indians.

I've been a dancer, musical, and artistic person my whole life- I've always known my dad has Yaqui-Azteca Native American and Celtic, but my mom was adopted and I just found out that I have romani blood from her and it explains everything. We didnt even know and I had these dances in my blood and its amazing to see this. This is how I dance just cause it feels good and I never knew this is it. This is amazing. Thank you so much for sharing this.

It’s weird because apparently behaviours like how you dance can’t be passed through genes but is only passed by learned tradition. But then I see things like this where people automatically do it even though they didn’t know it’s part of their ancestry, which is confusing
@Angelisanti2 жыл бұрын
@@katpage9378 It has been known for generations by us Gypsies, whichever branch of gypsy people it may be, my blood is that of the Iberian Spanish & Portuguese & Italian gypsy people, with some Italian lineage in there too; but we have always stated that when it comes to our music, culture, dance, and general feeling, especially with regards to the music, Gypsy music, or Flamenco Gypsy music, we've always said . . . "It's in the blood" and it really is true, I say this, because, from being a toddler I kept on feeling something different about myself too, could read people, like a comic book, see right through them and their intentions, could sense their very thought processes, and instinctively kept on wanting to be drumming on things all the time, kept on feeling it within me, wanting to stamp my feet and play at drumming some strange sounding stuff. Later as an adult I found out that it is something that I was born with in my blood, it's called being a Gypsy. When you know, You know, and when you know that you have that Gypsy rhythm in you, you really know it. I first saw Carmen Amaya dancing like a wild Gypsy woman, an Andalusian Gypsy Flamenco dance, and I nearly freaked-out, jumped up and knew that I knew that which she was doing already, but could not explain how; it was a real epiphany moment, or, a Eureka moment for me I can tell you. That was as a kid, now @63 (in June) I've been rapping & tapping ever since, to the annoyance of almost everybody that I've ever worked with since I first started working @14 in 1973. I have a dedicated Flamenco channel on Facebook, and another for regular kinda stuff. As a Gypsy, my day does not just start and finish with music in my head, my day is based on the music flowing through my veins 24/7 x 365; there is no moment that I am not in Gypsy music mode; everything I think say and do has my music in it. That is a lot of what it is like to be a Gypsy, it is an extremely musical existence. Message me if you want to come & see my Gypsy Flamenco channel and groups. Angelo Angelisanti . . 😎🖖🏼
