A very generalised view of Salesforce, please do a little more investigation and now a days there is no special role for admin and developer. The line is getting thinner and you must do everything, and being architect will take about 8 years.. you will become senior dev after 6 years..

@Srujan, In India there is no separate role for admin and developer , but in UK, europe and US Admin role is different and Developer role is different. If anyone is working in India or working for Indian companies they need all rounder. But things are different in out of India.
