I'm going to go I'm leaving you? I'm going you to go I'm leaving ? In my mind putting them before the verb breaks my English brain.

"se" is simple for Polish people. We have "się", which has exactly the same meaning, and use, and purpose as "se". The only difference "się" never changes, it's always the same in all persons. edit: We also move responsibility onto objects but not that often apparently. "Se me olvidó hacer la tarea" sounds a little funny. We use it, in fact, to make our mistakes appear less serious. Something like: "It just happened to me that I forgot to do the home work.". But you can't make fun of all your mistakes, so we don't use it too often.

Hello, here a native spaniard! You wont understand how to use "se" unless you get used to speak spanish since you are a kid. Actually, "se" has got a lot of functions grammarly talking. Most of the time we use se to talk about someones who is doing something to himself or just when 2 or more people are doing something each other. Rarely, when a sentence hasnt got any subject, the sentence starts with se (Se busca casa, Se alquila vivienda...) Most of the time, these "se" need to go with the verb, otherwise the sentence is meaningless or the meaning is changed.

Take heart, it is not very difficult, you will learn it definitely if you read newspapers and magazines (and also works of literature), like Ana says.

Jesucristo Salvador the word “se” is equivalent to the word “on” in French and sometimes it’s used as an improper way to say “we” or “them” or some actions happening to oneself.. it’s tricky word I have to say as there’s no equivalent in English..

IT's easy to learn if you talk with native speakers and they correct to you. Me and te are easier than, les, las, los (neutral). But le, and se are most difficult. That was difficult for me when I was a kid and I am native speaker. But I got learn it.

Of course, the most famous example of passive impersonality in English is, "Mistakes were made": Se cometieron errores

I used to watch your videos Anna, but I had stopped because, when I was watching and listening I couldn't concentrate on what you where talking about. I was just watching your beauty and cuteness. I wish you could wear a mask or something because, I really like to learn Spanish and you are good at teaching it.

Been in Ecuador for a while. I see "se vende" on for sale properties here.
@mitchellcampion38806 жыл бұрын
Yes! Great example. This is common in most of Sudamerica
@atttalvarez6 жыл бұрын
Se vende is the perfect example of what we call in grammar ‘pasiva con se’, that is to change the ‘primera pasiva’ or first passive form into one that looks strange at first glance, but which is more common and natural. Instead of saying ‘esta casa es vendida (por alguien)’ or ‘esta casa es para vender’, we say ‘se vende’. We clearly know that this is not reflexive because this structure is only used in those cases in which the doer is an animated entity, for example a person, not a house. So we never confuse them in Spanish. If talking about a building you find ‘se vende’, ‘se arrienda’, ‘se permuta’, ‘se educa’, ‘se cambia’, ‘se pinta’, ‘se repara’, etc., it’s impossible you can confuse it with reflexive or reciprocal.

I've been trying to explain to my Spanish speaking gf that there are so many filler words that make no sense and confuse me to no end like lo, se, que, etc that are placed in sentences, and it throws me off because I think I can translate the sentence perfectly, but it translates to a whole other sentence. Like wtf.. Spanish is so hard 🤣
