I think the Sephiroth at the edge of creation is really seeing everything in perspective with regards to being manipulated by Jenova and Hojo. At that place he seems to be free from here and is in a clear mind. Really fascinating developments and I can’t wait for part 3

I would love for a grey, not so evil Sephiroth. One thing I noticed in the new Ever Crisis scenes was, that after Sephiroth defeats the Behemoth like creature, he gets the same distortion which Cloud experiences. Basically indicating Jenova is trying to influence him. If I'm not mistaken this is really the first time we ever saw that happening to him? From what we saw in Rebirth and Ever Crisis, I think it is really all about mental strength. If I'm not mistaken, Soldier candidates have to have a strong will? Which would explain all the degeneration stuff. Your sprit is broke due to whatever event and Jenova can slowly take over. (Genesis for example was basically broken once he gave it his all to beat Sephiroth just to realize he will never be as strong as him. Or Sephiroth in Ever Crisis, when he is called a hero but knows for himself about all the "evil" stuff he had to do.) Most people degen as Jenova has no other need of them besides reuniting her own cells. But potent people like Cloud and Sephiroth she wants to make use off. To me, Sephiroths motivation after the Nibelheim incident never aligned with how he was before. Everything he was doing in the original game or in Advent Children was bascially what Jenova wanted. (Kill all, absorp, go to new fastfood planet) No matter if I'm right or wrong, I think Jenova needs to be dragged into the spotlight. To me, she is the prime evil, the true end boss. Not Sephiroth. That weazle hid herself for long enough. Time to send her off and send the Gi right along.

I feel like Edge of Creation/Ore!Sephiroth is Sephiroth's memories that he discarded in OTWAS manifested so he wouldn't disappear into the Lifestream, stuck in limbo and not wanting to disappear like his owner. There's a lot of heavy themes of cherishing all memories, good and bad, and IMO that's the direction they're taking his character because it's the one thing he has always denied (I'll never be a memory-AC, Reunion with your Memories- FF7R Ultimania) As to what the end game is, I think it's Sephiroth somehow accepting fate and becoming one with the Lifestream through the help of Aerith's Great Gospel like in AC (whose interests are within the health of the planet and she also had an entire speech of true strength coming from forgiveness) instead of coming back over and over again and messing with the Planet. That way, it's not exactly a redemption arc as some people say, but more of a conclusion to his character's struggles. It would draw a lot of parallels with Cloud as well if he had a Lifestream memory sequence.

Sephiroth goal is to save everyone including himself and aerith by defeating jenova in every timeline every way possible becoming the ultimate hero right beside cloud and Zack

It was great seeing you featured on Max Dood's stream the other day. I rarely watch his streams, so it was a cool coincidence to see you featured there right after I'd just shown your EC video to my nephew. I was there talking about how great your content is though, and was so happy to see you featured. I don't usually click on links from random content creators I'm not already familiar with, but I do remember clicking on yours a long time ago. Glad I did man. Not only is your narration and thoughts about news, announcements, and FF story details always great, but you often cover things that other FF content creators skip over or maybe didn't find out about (the S.E. press release or business slides come to mind.) You're killing it dude. Happy to watch your channel grow. I don't think Sephiroth will be redeemed in the Remake trilogy since the devs said he will always be the ultimate villain of FFVIIR. But I do think they've started to redeem him in his past and will likely go further with that in Episode 2 of 1st Soldier when that eventually comes out.

There is no making Sephiroth "too redeemable" as some fear. Sephiroth is the greatest victim of the whole story, by virtue of all he's been through, and how Jenova corrupted him when he was at a breaking point. To say he's not redeemable, is to say a real life child soldier is irredeemable for the "crimes" they committed, for the wicked people that trafficked them. What's important is how they HANDLE his redemption. If Sephiroth is going back in time to change the course of fate, and perhaps, unite all worlds, all possibilities and probabilities into a new primary set of events, all to overcome Jenova and reverse damage done, it should occur in a way where Cloud's party still view him as the bad guy, but in the end, we the audience know the truth, and the new exploration of FF7 is how Sephiroth now faces a new world of his making. Another thing to keep in mind, is having his redemption to hinder on Cloud and Aerith's forgiveness, would be Square's biggest mistake. That would gravely cheapen Sephiroth's journey and struggles, become anticlimactic, and ruin greater exploration. Sephiroth, for his caliber, needs to represent the person who gave himself hope, earned his redemption on his own merit, and could only rely on that. It sends a powerful statement of inner strength, and that no matter how someone was dragged and how impossible a person's situation is, there's always hope. A much more gratifying plot for his caliber, than the "oh from the goodness of my heart, I forgive you" from the heroes, which again, would cheapen Sephiroth's whole character, and cock-block future storytelling.

Agreed. Modern media has confused "Redemption" with "Forgiveness" when Forgiveness is totally orthogonal to whether someone is redeemed. The only thing needed for Sephiroth's redemption is for _him_ to realize that the first person he betrayed with his actions against innocent people and the planet, is himself. He betrayed who he wanted to be, and for that he must atone and become the hero he strove to be before his corruption, without the ulterior/sole motive of compliments from "the good guys" who would only serve as some Author/Audience Mouthpiece to tell us "He's Good Now!".

@@ultimamage3 Exactly that. We personally don't see it as him actively "betraying" himself as, he succumbed to a mental breakdown, and Jenova exploited that, clear as day. There's a reason for the judgement "not guilty due to insanity". But at any rate, the only one who can forgive and redeem Sephiroth, IS himself, at that, using Nomura's words, his "pure soul" should grant him forgiveness. And yes, we don't need the protagonists to validate Sephiroth's redemption, in fact, it would hurt it doing so. The rivalry between Cloud and Sephiroth should continue, but for vastly different reasons moving forward, and reasons based on conflictive revelations, and difference of ideologies, and not "good guy/bad guy" stuff. One of the theories we have collectively, is there will be revelation that Lucrecia Crescent [Seph's biological mother] is Cetra, and that making him the other last Cetra, would be a massive conflict of interest situation, as Seph would want to pursue what his "birthright" of the Planet entails, something Aerith would NOT be happy about, perfect new conflict. Mentioning Aerith, her ideology potentially, of her views that destiny has a natural flow and Sephiroth should not have interrupted it, even if things "ended badly" or that he must "be the bad guy, like it or not", is something very possible from her standpoint, while Sephiroth believes one SHOULD take charge of destiny for what they deem is better not just for themselves, but all life. Also, it's almost a guarantee that Vincent will be revealed as Sephiroth's biological father... once again, massive conflict of sides here. So just this bit I shared right here, is enough to prove that Seph doesn't need to be accepted by the protagonists, to be redeemed and have his good nature return. Consider the new relationship between Sephiroth and Cloud's party, similar to Captain America: Civil War, where it's good people fighting over highly contrasting ideals and goals. Great new journey.

Their loss will not be mourned. For it is not death. But a homecoming that awaits them. Sephiroth has this idea where he will reunite all of his dead friends together? Killing Aerith might be him sending cloud a message that. You should not accept this fate. You need to save her. Let us defy destiny together. Also the fact that cloud didn't mourn aerith death in Rebirth and he didn't mourn Jessie and Biggs death in remake. Sephiroth asked him "why you didn't mourn them" in the temple of ancient is interesting.

Fantastic video, man! The conversations that this franchise enables are so fascinating. Max was on the money about so much of Rebirth too and Ever Crisis has lots of potential moving forward. So my crazy crackpot theory is that... What if Sephiroth erroneously/blindly thinks that Cloud's unique power to defy fate and make change (i.e the divergence in Aerith's death sequence) is connected somehow to his genes? To Sephiroth no one should have that much power of choice and change. Sephiroth was never able to fully choose in his life. Sephiroth's plan is to use Cloud's genetic legacy in an "ever-unfolding fate defiance origin point". He could even want something crazier like use Cloud as an alien-esque being like Jenova to defy the wills of the planet and start from there. Cloud is an existence of endless possibilities, that can literally alter the course of things. But then, I think fate doesn't necessarily exists from the get-go. I think fate starts being a necessary thing for the events to follow when something terrible like Sephiroth goes back in time and mess with it. That explains why the OG doesn't have whispers: because is happening for the first time. So fate does not exist normally, but time does and always did. So Cloud, even in these abnormal circumstances, is actually able to create new outcomes. Thematically and morally that speaks as in: even though Cloud tried to save Aerith and failed, he can still try and get stronger, so he can do something that literally defies fate at some point, to not lose hope on changing things for the best, even though it seemed that it didn't work. That converses with how most likely the ending this time will be different from the OG: Cloud will create a new outcome from his will and his friends's. Like Aerith said in her dream after eating that snack from the old lady, "No, it just...needs a little sugar, maybe." This time the ending won't be that bittersweet. Another important exploration of the morality of Sephiroth's plan would also be that, in order to make the universe infinite, you'd have to be starting from the fact that you are going back in time to try and do things differently, but you should accept things how they happened and move on, make a difference in the future. "Focus on the future, not the past." Why the rift from the unstable worlds is different from the rift Cloud sees at the end of the game? I hope part 3 also explains how can Cloud simply pop up on the white space/world of pure white in Advent Childen. Perhaps Sephiroth thinks that Cloud's will to change things gotta be something from his genetic legacy, that's why he wants to replicate it. Shouldn't be possible for someone to have that much power of choice, of willpower. Cloud is just a guy, but somehow could do the things he did, like even life Sephiroth from Masamune and throw him inside Nibelheim's reactor. Sephiroth trained his entire life to be the ideal SOLDIER, and had to make a tough choice about Rosen. He really wished he could defy fate somehow. Perhaps the "ore" Sephiroth from the Edge of Creation is the "Real Sephiroth", like Cloud has his "real self" inside his subconscious. EoC's Sephiroth could be stuck there not only wanting to be freed, but to enact on some sort of bigger plan regarding the universe. If Sephiroth wants Cloud alive why did he attack him a few times instead of just blocking? I rewatched the EoC scene from Remake and Sephiroth swings one or two times. In my head he was only defensive, but apparently not. Probably doesn't mean much, but... That was interesting. Another point is that I wouldn't be surprised if Sephiroth has an empty materia as well, the fake materia that Cloud gave him at the end of the Temple of the Ancients sequence. "This is the key which grants access to the true counterpart hidden between worlds." Would be a good parallel between Aerith giving Cloud the empty materia, while Cloud gives Sephiroth one. But all that is just speculation. I'd love if the Gi have something to do with that whole thing.

Basically I see Sephiroth transition from villain to anti-hero in this face turn in Part Three. I'm hoping that Square Enix uses Sephiroth's redemption in Part Three to create a stand alone AAA Sephiroth game in the new world created.

We NEED this to happen. FF7 WITHOUT Sephiroth, has no future at all. Sephiroth is the axiom of this story's narrative. They need to BUILD on Sephiroth's intrigue and mystery, answer questions we've been dying to have answered [yes, let Vincent be his biological father, let Lucrecia turn out to be Cetra, this brings tremendous new conflict and tension for Cloud's party], build on the unique relationship Seph has with the Lifestream, set up the Edge of Creation to be so much more, and this is how to build a new narrative. We've ALL been asking for a AAA main title centering on Sephiroth. As you said, establishing that a new world, new timelines, and such has been created, that's how to continue the story, now with him. Let's keep up the hope for it!

Remember we are in a post Kingdom Hearts world. I still believe a Sephiroth, be him present, AC, or otherwise, is now beyond Jenova's plans and is working towards a greater good, although still choosing the most convoluted and antagonistic methods because, plot I guess.

Multiple Sephiroths and Aerith are like the dark and light sides of the Force (as even hinted by the creators). Aerith from the Lifestream is “Omni” and can probably manifest in her other self from other realms. Similarly, Sephiroth can also be considered “Omni”, as he can manifest within his clones etc.

Jenova is really like the true root of all evil, and villainy in the game, Hojo is second, and President Shinra, third. Sephiroth was the main "antagonist" as it's his face we see mostly, but Jenova is what is in the background. The Reunion Files states this.

​@@thefinalfantasynation seems like Jenova itself is just a soul of another world and claiming on a new world is a part of its nature. it is a natural desaster like a storm, the trigger that started all events in a game but not actually a vilain. it is like calling a COVID a vilain lol talking about Sephiroth - previously it was said that he erased all his memories about his yought during that time he spent in a lifestream between Nibblehaim and OG events, but now we see it is not really true so i'm waiting for part 3 - who knows mb this all will be a part of his plan to erase Jenova from this world by collecting all cells in one place and burning it "alive" in fact even AC in this case will have a kinda logic - to clear all that left so nothing will stay behind anyway - only part 3 will answer on these and i'll wait for it...if only i wont get under the shelling before the game release

Overall it does seem like they are trying to portray Sephiroth in a more empathetic way. That will be fairly important for continuing the narrative of Sephiroth persuading Cloud to align with him. They at least want you to feel like Sephiroth has a point, just like the MCU did with Thanos. And I'm fairly certain the Sephiroth at the edge of creation in Rebirth is the same one at the edge of creation in Remake. Regardless of that, everything is still building up to the 7 seconds until the end moment. Whatever that moment will be is still totally mysterious. The only reasonable assumption is that Cloud will need to make a decision which influences the outcome.

It should be interesting to understand from what or where Sephiroth took this strong idea..the urge ti save everyone...Surely not from Hojo,or from the terribile treatment that he had in Shinra,growing up as a reckless Warrior,a deadly tool...Where did he learn empathy,compassion,love,friendhip,sense of protection???A name emerges..Ghast.Which Is not just a speculation,since It comes durectly from the plot in the OG.But should be interesting to know how...Maybe in the third part..

Interesting that you said that there's 4 different versions of Sephiroth going around. My wildest theory only had two; a post-Advent Children Sephiroth and the Remake Sephiroth. What I theorized at the end of Remake, the Edge of Creation Sephiroth is actually a post-Advent Children Sephiroth. As you said, that is the most unusual of the Sephiroths we see as he seems to lack the requisite malice and the usage of "ore" as compared to his usual "watashi" pronouns. This change could signify that Sephiroth is breaking ties with "Mother" Jenova and becoming his own villain. Throughout the old OG plot and Advent Children, all of Sephiroth's plans align with Jenova's, being that Sephiroth in both events intends to absorb all the Lifestream, thereby draining the planet, which is exactly what Jenova would have done if she was in his place. Since the means all drive to the same end, which is the destruction of the planet, it matters not to Jenova who's in charge of the car, as long as the car reaches the destination. Sephiroth at the Edge of Creation may be aiming to change that metaphorical destination altogether. Of course, that begs the question: What is Sephiroth's endgame? The ending of Rebirth is so ambiguous that it gives the writers leeway to turn the plot annnnywayyy they want, but through looking at the surface evidence; Sephiroth wants to unite the multiverse and become the ruler of that unified world. Whether it be with or without Jenova's influence is still up in the air, but I do have a good idea on how the post-Advent Children Sephiroth is going to act. One huge theory that could make or break the story is this: when people hop to another timeline, they *overwrite* that timeline's counterpart. There are major hints that happened during the Zack sections. We see Biggs talking about Cloud's exploits during Remake, but as we know, the Cloud in the Terrier timeline is comatose and his presence and Biggs' testimony doesn't make sense. After all, Zack and Cloud can only arrive at Midgar at most weeks before the beginning of Remake, but here, Biggs talks as if Cloud had done all the events of Remake already, so what gives? In the Terrier timeline, the Remake events happened up till the party entered the tornado at the end of the highway, where they were defeated and left unconscious or killed. As the tornado dissipated, Zack and Cloud entered that Terrier timeline. The original Cloud was overwritten by the unconscious Cloud carried by Zack, and that's where Rebirth picks up. Do you realize the potential plot twists if this theory is true? If timeline hopping overwrites the new timeline counterpart, that means the Edge of Creation Sephiroth, an older and more experienced Sephiroth can potentially jump in and hijack the Remake timeline Sephiroth near the end of Part 3. And even more than that, this is an avenue for Aerith to come back to life! I'm pretty sure the Aerith we played as and love is physically gone. However, her consciousness is still alive and present in the Lifestream. We know that a new timeline has been created when Cloud deflected that fateful blow in the Forgotten Capital. However, Sephiroth has somehow overwritten that event to impale Aerith anyway. This means that potentially somewhere in Part 3, after Sephiroth tips his hand, Aerith could timeline hop from the Cloud-saved-her timeline to the main Beagle timeline to overwrite her death! What a twist this could make!

Very very interesting! Thinking about the Thanos comparison, if Sephiroth (as a good guy who wants to save the planet) destroys every mako reactor and takes down every member of Shinra, it would only save the planet temporarily. In however many years time, Sephiroth would be too old or too dead to fight whoever takes Shinra's place. Technology is inevitable and another power company would eventually come along and replace Shinra, start sucking up mako again, and the world would end up in the same situation its in now. So Sephiroth needs to become a 'God' and use the planet as a vessel to stop that from ever happening again and protect the planet. If this is the case, there are very interesting parallels with Avalanche. I like it a lot!

My theory is that it'll be called "Redemption" not just because of the possibility of a Sephiroth redemption, but because Cloud will be able to create a happier ending than the og game. He will be able to redeem himself as a hero and a person.

@@Ammy-q4w Cloud's "redemption" is one subject we always felt was forced in a sense... Not negating your idea, but we'd like to know what would he really need redemption for? The main characters that would seek/need it, would be Sephiroth's whole "family" if you will... Despite his crimes stemming from Jenova and Shinra, he'd still seek atonement, Vincent didn't intervene when he CLEARLY had the power to and never did, so he should seek atonement, and Lucrecia, for agreeing to subject herself to the Jenova Project. Lucrecia is the main person needing redemption, for so, so much of this is all her fault.

To quote Aerith "he'll tell you he cares about the planet, that he wants to protect it...but this isn't the way it's supposed to be." I think you're pretty spot on with Sephiroth's motives, or at least his general direction. From playing both games, I got the impression that the Holy Materia was actually Aerith's (the real Aerith's) way of moving through these timelines. And that Sephiroth purposefully forced her to use it on the highway in part 1 to open the portal (Creating the empty materia.) Even before the ever crisis stuff, I had a feeling that after Remake, the Aerith we knew from part 1 was long gone when we got to Kalm in part 2. She didn't lose her memories, she moved to hide in a dying world, one that could spare a white materia. I truly believe that Sephiroth made her empty the white materia so that jenova's sephiroth WOULDN'T have had a reason to kill her in rebirth, and that Aerith made sure to give cloud another white materia to ensure that she would die praying as it should have been. That's why she apologized to him in the church scene. I believe that's why Sephiroth says "I give you my blessing" to cloud in reference to him having a life with her beyond the city of the ancients, and why he also said "That's not supposed to be here, such poor form." To cloud upon realizing he snuck a white materia back in. We say goodbye to her 3 times, Once in the church, who I believe was probably the original game's Aerith saying goodbye to the fans. We say goodbye to the rebirth version of her after being stabbed. And we say goodbye to a new version of her after "saving her" and continuing on our adventure. I highly doubt this was Jenova playing a mind trick, and while I do think that Aerith's story overall is pretty much done even in that timeline, I do think this was what the true Sephiroth wanted cloud to walk away seeing. His true intentions are unknown and I seriously doubt he's going to be a good dude in the end, but I get the feeling that he really tried to at least craft a timeline where Aerith was made to be spared regardless of how the story would have panned out.

We personally feel like Sephiroth won't necessarily be teaming up with Cloud's party, but instead, faces off Jenova like at her core to free himself, while Cloud's party defeats Jenova/Sephiroth. In the way things end, it's our assumption that Sephiroth would still be at odds with Cloud's party, even as the damage Jenova has caused is reversed, Aerith ends up surviving and such, there would still be a rift between them in the end, and honestly, that's a good thing, to set up a new narrative in the future. Sephiroth doesn't need to be redeemed by virtue of Cloud or Aerith's forgiveness or anything like that. He needs to forgive himself, redeem himself by virtue of the story/narrative, and then start a new path defining his own destiny, with his original "pure heart" [as Nomura calls it], at the helm now. But not without there still being tension between himself and Cloud, allowing for more story to be explored.

But in my view Hojo was always the true bad guy l in the story for his evil lies and despicable experiments against Sephiroth. I feel like at some point one of these “other Sephiroths” they’re showing should figure out who Lucrecia is and be like “oh...” But that’s probably not very “marketable” to the masses.

Honestly I just want Sephiroth evil. No sugar coating anything, no redemption, no Thanos moment, no nothing, that's how I have always seen him when I 1st played it back in 97 as a kid. I hated that he killed Aerith then and was shocked of course lol. I was having a think after a few theory videos and inspired. I think something like this would be nice: Sephiroth is flying around the Corel area early in the game part 3 doing something (maybe looking for bird meat?) then Ruby Weapon takes a blast at him. He crashes down or even better tries to take on Ruby Weapon all on his own. Remember in Rebirth he could not take the underwater Weapons. We play as Sephiroth again but it's too ambitious for one man alone and he's too confident so he takes a big hit... Moments later he gets picked up by doctor Sheiran's team scouting around Corel deserts. Later they find out he has Jenova cells at the most any human being ever has. Cell for cell. The doctor is really worried but stays calm. In a deep sleep the former SOLDIER starts revisiting The Lifestream and sees his real mother's story and Sephiroth felt like his whole life was played with and conditioned. Even later on his new test shows a decline in Jenova cells since he found this new knowledge but for a moment he kills everyone beginning with the doctor! ... No it was a postponed thought or action better yet just vision as he lies there and listens to Sheiran calm and human-like despite those dangerous cat eyes. Something happens in Corel as Shinra storms in and decides they have a plan or strategy to restart the failed reactor or to work on the railway to Gold Saucer, an upgrade or update or they miscalculate and assume The Promised Land might be close but for whatever reason Shinra returns. Only for Sephiroth to pulls up some heroics against the Shinra mobilization defeating them alongside some Corel fighters. Later on Cloud and co. revisit Corel and everybody was singing Sephiroth's praises... Sephiroth says he understands and knows to Cloud after Cloud tries to tell some of the backstory of his real mother as he had visited Lucrecia's Cave. Sephiroth: *Perhaps I could tell you a story about your father? He was always pulling out the big guns.* That is regarding potential link to Glenn as theories indicate. A redemption arc would be changing FF7 but if an empowered Reunion Jenova or Jenova Complete or whatever reclaims Sephiroth (even with receding Jenova cells) and as a powerful ending boss then it's good. Only for a dying Sephiroth becoming human-like and apologetic (like Vader but the big difference is he becomes good then bad again first whereas Vader turns good to bad once only) as he is snapped out of it after Omnislash bites (a bit like when Angeal snapped out of it after Zack's hits).

Im of the mindset that Cloud is dying, the edge of creation is the final area before you reach the lifestream aka the promised land. The lifestream is trying to keep Jenova out, and Sephiroth in remake needs clouds help to finally rid the world of Jenova once and for all and Cloud is the only one left with Jenova Cells after DoC. He is the Hero Sephiroth in clouds mind like Zack in Clouds mind. REmake Sephiroth at edge od creation knew all of Clouds attacks and how to counter. Redemption. That's what I thought too the other day for FFVII last part. And multiple Sephiroth ? Yeah but funnily I didn't thought like that. The Sephiroth clones that Cloud's party encounter and end up fighting are always name Jenova. Two the Sephiroth in Cloud's head , who I also suspect is Jenova, (maybe ?)Three , last Sephiroth waiting for Cloud. But that there might be a Fourth one? . Why I haven't thought of that ? Since there was like three different Aerith and three Zack , the idea that there could also possibly have multiple Sephiroth because if there was some differences they are so subtile that it never even cross my minds ! And I totally like your theory. Sephiroth is never going to be sane. So yeah that he wants to erase Jenova or defeat Minerva to be free is such a beautiful idea but either if he wants to defy fate Minerva or Jenova he remains ambiguous. I think fans are confused about Sephiroth's mindset. He has a twisted sense of what love and kindness is. He believes torment is a form of kindness, and he believes he is indeed the hero in that he seeks to liberate everyone-- by murdering. He is a tragic character who sees himself as the hero, fated to be robbed of all human love and kindness. He knows nothing else, and is bestowing the same 'kindness' to someone like Cloud, unable to understand what true compassion really is. That makes him a tragic villain. Redeeming him would only erase that, and ultimately eliminate him from his 20+ year legacy of being the most iconic villain.

Anyone that is able to use some critical thinking skills would realize that Square Enix has played the long con, even going as far as to lie in their Ultimatium. Sephiroth has never, and will never, be the main antagonist of FF7. It's always been and always will be Jenova by virtue of everything shown in the game. The only idea that "Sephiroth is alive and in control" is something Hojo says at the northern crater and we all know Hojo is not a reliable narrator.

Technicality, but I think you mean Jenova is the main villain. From a storytelling perspective, Sephiroth is by far the clear antagonist. The entire story of FFVII entirely revolves around pursuing Sephiroth, being controlled by Sephiroth, the personality of Sephiroth. A great classic example of this is Star Wars. Darth Vader is clearly the antagonist of the original trilogy. But by the end we all know that Palpatine is the true villain. That may end up being the case here. That said, I view Jenova and Sephiroth as a symbiotic relationship. There is no Sephiroth without Jenova, and vice versa at this point.

Well one thing about og that really sucksnis the fact thay we never see sephiroth meet his biological mother, i have a theory lucrecia or how ever you spell her name is gonna have a much bigger role to play cause sephiroth only knows jenova as his mother, as for knowing who his father is, he kinda does, or he does and he just doesn't care, and leaves hojo alone. Full-on redemption arc does not suit him at all, I think him thinking that he is above everyone in knowing what is the correct thing to do for the planet and perhaps as a response to breaking away from Jenova or even just "inspired" by Jenova's goals ultimately all work out well, if executed and paced well. Sephiroth's redemption should not happen. He represents pure evil in the most diabolic sense: him being an angel is basically a hint at Lucifer / Satan. If anything, they should take the chance to investigate the nature of evil as a potentially necessary, part of the universe. John Milton painted already an almost positive picture of Lucifer in Paradise Lost, but the truth is just that there was no possible redemption.

Sorry but other than Remake's ending at the Edge of Creation did Rebirth do anything to set up the Sephiroth redemption arc? This feels very out of left field for the Remake Trilogy's conclusion. They've set up Zack's timeline, alt realities and multiversal Sephiroth being a dick but I haven't heard anything pointing to Sephiroth's redemption other than Ever Crisis which feels like the wrong place to leave bread crumbs if that's taking place in a separate trilogy. Not even sure why Zack was a thing if that's not gonna be resolved in Part 3.
