This was the one game we had for the PS1 growing up that was actually weird to start up and took a lot of effort. I dont remember if there were scratches (or maybe a scratch) but it would take me about 30 minutes of restarting, wiping the lense, wiping the disc over and over to get it to play. Gave some weird gratification to play this game after all of that. I loved the first-person mode though I would always ride rides after I built them.

Grew up with the PC version, Loved it. My sisters and I were always fighting over the computer to play this. I actually prefer this game over Roller Coaster Tycoon just because the 3D graphics and added personality, it feels like each theme has a ton of unique objects and rides to really make it fit the atmosphere. Good review of the PS1 version though. I actually just started playing the PS2 version on an emulator today because I have been in a park building mood. Runs at 60fps, and apparently has a bit more content than the PS1 version.

If I had the PC growing up, I'd probably have more fond memories of it. I liked it in the small bursts that I played it. I just liked the aesthetics of the RCT franchise more due to my nostalgia for it. Plus the series went on to have some great sequels with RCT2 and 3 whereas the Theme Park franchise died off.

PC version originally had an expansion pack planned, well EA “pushed” for it to become a Standalone title, Theme Park INC (Theme Park Manager or Sim Coaster, what ever the hell it is…..). But it’s no surprise EA hates their studios unless Madden NFL is involved.

I still own my original copy of the PS1 version as a kid It will always have a special place in my heart I sunk hours of gameplay at my grandmother's house I also didn't know there was a PS2 version that looks much better I wish I knew it existed years ago .

Surprised you didn't use a shotgun to this bowling ball. This game drove me INSANE with the commentary or backseating from the dumb AI. I quit playing after the third theme park because it got old/repetitive and that AI never shut up. One day I might go back into this game, but no. Also Parkitect is a fun game, even though it doesn't have tables or being able to put small things underneath trees that you have to mod it into the game.

Parkitect is still being developed at least. So I expect it to be expanded upon. But there's also the mod community at least.

Easily one of the most annoying characters in video games.
