Hi there, I want to install some new springs on my car, does lower spring rate means more comfort?

Yep. Higher number means stiffer and therefore less comfortable.

I have some chrome QA1 coil overs. How do I determine what rate the springs are?

@@QA1TECH, well my question is if there is a way I can tell what I've got, because they are too heavy for a decent ride. And they're on the rear.

@@mrblanche There should be a QA1 logo along with a part number on the spring! If you can find that and call in with that number, we will be able to recommend something different for you!

So if I want my car lower should I get a spring with a lower spring rate.

A lower spring rate will compress the spring further, but we would recommend using the correct spring rate for the vehicles weight and an initial shock length selection that will allow the vehicle to sit at your desired ride height. If the current setup has the spring seat collars adjusted all the way to the bottom a softer spring will further lower the vehicle, but you’ll need to keep in mind you may not have enough downward shock travel for operation.

We choose the height of spring that goes best with the shock needed for the application and the ride height of the application. Choosing the right spring rate is mainly based off the weight of your car. So we also pair the height of spring with the spring rate.
