There are 5 total stages of chronic kidney disease. These stages refer to how properly your kidneys are working. Kidney function deteriorates as kidney disease stages progress. In the early stages like stage 1 to stage 3, your kidneys are still able to filter waste out of your blood. In the later stages like stage 5, to stage 5, the kidney has to work substantially harder to filter out waste out your blood. At any stage of chronic kidney disease, the goal is to do whatever is possible to slow down kidney damage and keep them functioning as long as possible.
To find out what stage of kidney disease one is in, a doctor can perform a series of tests. These include eGFR tests and urine tests. A eGFR test is considered a pretty accurate test for doctors to know how well your kidneys are working. However, the eGFR may not be accurate if you are younger than 18, pregnant, obese, or very muscular.
As far as Stage 4 Kidney disease, Stage 4 CKD means you have an eGFR between 15 and 29. This means your kidneys are moderately or severely damaged and are not properly. Stage 4 kidney disease should be taken extremely seriously because it is the last stage before kidney failure.
Symptoms of stage 4 kidney disease include swelling in your hands and feet, back pain, and urinating more or less than normal, amongst other symptoms from previous stages of chronic kidney disease. At this stage, it is vital to practice good kidney health like keeping the proper diet, taking the right supplements, and keeping close contact with a nephrologist.

I've had kidney disease stage 4 for over a year seen nobaday I had my hospital appointment Dec 4th .where I was introduced to a new doctor whom said great news I think I will be able to discharge you after this appointment as its got better so have blood tests today and will write and let you know. I was confused as had no test for over a year and then it was 26percent in both kidneys

Thank you so much for such useful information. At stage 3 CKD, is going for naturopathy or holistic care a good idea? My mom's GFR is 17 and a Nephrologist wants to do HD. CRT is at 2.9. My mom is not ready. She wants to try the natural route.

I have a stent due to kidney stone in urethra Waiting on uteroscopy Can the stent increase hypertension I believe my hydronephrosis is due to the stent. no natural cure is working for high bp I have tried everything for 2yrs now

I have no idea if that is your cause. Best to speak to a medical doctor familiar with your health history, etc. When kidneys are damaged I have not see anything work naturally to lower blood pressure. Unless you lose a lot of weight.

@@HealthyKidneyIncI’ve lost a lot of weight. Not on purpose tho. Went from 180lbs to 110lbs for no reason. I did find out I was an alpha 1 carrier but with symptoms, copd and elevated liver enzymes. Just found out I have stage 4 CKD but had no clue. I still can’t get my bp regulated. It went from highs at 200/110 to the diastolic being at a 40! What the heck is going on. I think I want to just crawl in a hole. But really with the alpha and ckd dx now my symptoms make sense. My new pcp said the same thing. I just don’t know why I wasn’t dx’ed yrs ago when I first started having these crazy symptoms. I don’t know what to do now.
