Johnny Boy I'd say they are completely different genres. Space and 4x is where the similarities stop. This isn't an rts. Mount and blade warband is to total war what this game is to sins. This comment is not negative btw. I love the SHIT out of all four of the games I mentioned.

Hi! I can confirm we'll be releasing new upgraded modding tools tomorrow. And I know there are few groups in Workshop that are working on exactly these mods. I don't know if they will actually make it, but as they informed us, they're advancing very good :)

Looks like the beautiful child of Rebel Galaxy and Stellaris with a little bit X3 DNA down the line, i like it and its now on my list, thank you very much for bringing it to my attention! Btw. Shack, if you ever do have the time and you are in the mood, how about a miniseries or a stream about good old classic space sims from the golden age of those games like Freespace 2 with the SCP overhaul or The Babylon Project with is a total conversion of Freespace 2 or the I-War series...damn there are so many really good games from back then.

In behalf of LGM developers, thank you for taking the time to chack the game! We are proud of what was done, and even more proud that we allowed community to lead us in making this game concept. And since you're already mentioning mods for next video, I can say we will be releasing new upgraded modding tools with update tomorrow, and I already know that few groups on Steam are working on extensive Star Trek and Star Wars mods. I picked up this game a while back when it was on sale. Never played it though. Tonight I was a bit bored and browsed my extensive Steam library and came across it. Got me a bit curious so I checked out this video to get an idea of what it was. Since Mount & Blade and Bannerlord are among my all time favorite games I will definitely put in some time. The mention of a Star Wars mod also riled me up.

I don't know if they already have this or not (Still downloading it), but you know what would be cool? Spine mounted weapons. A huge weapon set up into a dreadnought that can tear through anything aside from a capital ship, and even the capital ship isn't going to have a good day.

I watch a lot of vids before even remotely buying a game, and if I like it, 90% of the time those games go straight to the Wishlist. Mate thanks for reminding me about this game. I had it sitting in my Steam library since I bought it in pre-alpha. Mind you, I did prefer the Starpoint Gemini 2 in terms of options and UI (it just seemed more tidy), plus the storyline from it was way more interesting - but it looks like they've added a whole lot to this so it looks pretty enjoyable now :D

The space prisons are there for you to break out the prisoners, and their ships join you, very useful early game.

I didnt men to offend. I was under the assumption that this is a same development team that makes star wars warlords for homeworld two, considering the identical title, and from this I went on to assume that they use the same ship models. Am I incorrect in thinking this? If so, sorry for my mistake, I will remove my previous comment.

yes that is incorrect, Evillejedi and the others from the HW 2 mod dont have a thing to do with the Starpoint mod, the name is similar because i lacked the imagination for a better one xD and the game is about being a Warlord. No need to delete something, we are not on FB.

I never found any use for merchant, but diplomacy and hacking have fairly strong use in the game. I would imagine that options in the sandbox are more limiting as most NPC's are disabled. Piracy can be very rewarding, and it seems the game encourages piracy considering that about 15 perks are related to boarding. Your going to need them all if you want a reasonable chance of capturing carriers. Boarding a damaged ship is easier then an undamaged one. Trading and freelancing are the other options for gaining more credits, and later, once you have buckets of credits, you can outright buy resources from the other factions if needed. A tip. Don't be afraid to explore/steal the equipment of the other factions. Some of it is better then the Solari ships. Finally, if you want to go to war, wait till your in a battleship at the least. Station defences will be too difficult until then.

This is what X Reunion should have been. Thank the gods. And VERY impressive that even the T-Drive isnt a loading screen disguised as an animation. You can see the actual geometry of that ice field passing by in the blur. Every other game would just have "cheated" and made that warp a preset animation with a teleport loadscreen. I love that travel is actually a factor of time in this game. 12:55 the shield UI is a bit tooooo huge though, obstructs the clear beauty of space and combat pewpew too much imo. Imagine when you have two huge fleets fighting, that huge blue blob covering half the screen wont be a welcome addition then. Starpoint Gemini always did this, too huge UI elements in all their games. I wish there was a setting to shrink em by 50%, literally all of it. Targeting rings, selection circles, shield overlays, the lot.

Have to build a specefic HQ module to allow reverse engineering of other factions ships Offworld prison only give you some ships for your fleet, usualy gunships, structure is destroyed after liberating them

Starpoint Gemini 2 was fun, but a bit too wonky to really sink my teeth into with so many other games sitting around needing to be played. Mount and Blade in space could be enormous fun, but I'll wait for a discount based on SG2's aforementioned wonkiness.
