7:26 O Children of Adam! We (ALLAH) have bestowed raiment upon you to cover yourselves (screen your private parts, etc.) and as an adornment, and the raiment of righteousness, that is the best. Such are among the Ayat (proofs, evidences, verses, lessons, signs, revelations, etc.) of ALLAH, that they may remember (i.e. leave falsehood and follow truth) 7:27 O Children of Adam! Let not Shaitan (Satan) deceive you, as he got your parents (Adam and Hawwa (Eve)) out of Paradise, stripping them of their raiments, to show them their private parts. Verily, he and Qabeeluhu (his soldiers from the jinns or his tribe) see you from where you cannot see them. Verily, We (ALLAH) made the Shayatin (devils) Auliya (protectors and helpers) for those (pagans Hindu,Buddhist, christians, kabbalah Jews, Illuminati Freemasons, polytheists, romans, Greeks,persians etc.) who believe not [in the last revelation (Al-Quran, Shariah Law) and the last prophet Muhammad (ﷺ) of Bible, For clear proof go through Isaiah 42 and Duetornomy 18:18] 7:28 And when they commit a Fahisha (evil deed, going round the Kabah in naked state, every kind of unlawful sexual intercourse, etc.), they say: "We found our fathers doing it, and ALLAH has commanded us of it." Say: "Nay, ALLAH never commands of Fahisha. Do you say of ALLAH what you know not 7:29 Say (O Muhammad ﷺ): My LORD has commanded justice and (said) that you should face Him only (i.e. worship none but ALLAH and face the Qiblah, i.e. the Kabah at Makkah during prayers) in each and every place of worship, in prayers (and not to face other false deities and idols), and invoke Him only making your religion sincere to Him by not joining in worship any partner to Him and with the intention that you are doing your deeds for ALLAH'S sake only. As He brought you (into being) in the beginning, so shall you be brought into being [(on the Day of Resurrection) (in two groups, one as a blessed one (believers), and the other as a wretched one (disbelievers)] 7:30 A group He has guided, and a group deserved to be in error; (because) surely they (pagans Hindu,Buddhist,christians,kabbalah Jews, Illuminati Freemasons, romans, Greeks,persians etc. Polytheists) took the Shayatin (devils) as Auliya (protectors and helpers) instead of ALLAH, and consider that they are guided.

as "Kashmir" shaivism practitioner I think it was an amazing synthesis of what Tantra is, a very difficult endeavor. I think there are some minor details that could be refined though: Mantras which don't have a clear conceptual meaning such as bīja mantras, are not gibberish, but a vibration of Consciousness (aka Shakti) whose meaning cannot be grasped by conceptual mind or vikālpas. When a mantra is transmitted from a guru to a disciple, it is said that such mantra is "caitanya" or alive, consciously alive. The guru received their mantra from their guru, who have had a direct relationship with such alive mantra. Somebody else mentioned chakras so I won't repeat it. Advaita vedantins view the world as Maya, utterly false and unreal, conversely, the Shaiva-shakta non-dual traditions view everything as a pulse (spanda) of creative and living consciousness whose purpose is to manifest through its main and great power of freedom (svatantriya). Ignorance, then, is when there is avidya (ignorance), the false experience and notion that there is a separation between real and unreal, mundane and divine. Reality is not false, it is just views through the three malas. Worth mentioning also that in non-dual Shaiva-shakta traditions there is no good and bad, for everything is Consciousness manifesting freely. I will definitely recommend your video as I thin is the best so far when it comes down to introducing the basics of tantra. Can't wait to see what you're putting out next! PD, just as others have done, I highly recommend Christopher Hareesh Wallis' books as good reference. I'd be thrilled to help as well if you'd get more references so that our tradition is well represented. Thank you!

@johncasarino5627
@johncasarino5627 2 жыл бұрын
@@jayjeckel no not necessarily, you see what you think is common sense and actual meaning is really just concepts linked to events that have been described to you through an explanatory medium, which in truth largely consists of culture, everyone grows up in a culture which grounds the psyche in this world of events, our western culture is very meticulous and descriptive, so to us something is either a true statement or a false one, but this in truth isn't an actual reflection of truth as an existent, rather psychological grounding to help us navigate the world around us. If one starts deconstructing culture and ingrained definitions of things within ones mind one stops standing so firmly on the ground, gibberish's own secrets become tangible and your paradigm starts to shift, you see it's all gibberish, the most precise and exact definition of a thing to the ramblings of a meth head on the streets, it's existence is only in relation to how it colours our consciousness and nothing more.

Through the ages the spiritually blind Jews have always asked the prophets to show them their GOD. Yes, pagans always desire for GOD in human form. That's why those spiritually blind pagans will be deceived by antichrist (dajjal). Because pagans suggest blasphemy to the ALLAH ALMIGHTY by going against their own scriptures to fulfill their own man-made concepts of god. And most of them worship material things (money,powers,fames, worldly things etc.) "If anyone memorizes ten verses from the beginning of Surah al-Kahf, he will be protected from the trial of Dajjāl (Antichrist)." (Muslim) In another narration, "(Whoever commits to memory) the last ten Ayat of Surat Al-Kahf, he will be protected from (the trial of) Ad-Dajjal (Antichrist)." May Allah protect us all against Dajjāl, Shaytān & his armies, aameen 18:4 Qur’an is also revealed to warn a terrible punishment for those who believe "GOD (ALLAH) has begotten a son" [All the Prophets propagated ALLAH’s Book in original. Their followers after them broke up Religion and deformed its teachings. They prepared man-written books to propagate their perverted beliefs and deeds, and created sects. Some sects of the pre-Muhammad era like Jews and Christians etc. and some appearing in post-Muhammad era have exalted some specified humans to the ‘son of God’ position] 18:5 (Those who believe that God has a begotten son,) they have no knowledge (that could justify their claim), nor did their forefathers (have and certain proof), either.They are simply putting a few words together to make a sentence. It's really an outrageous statement that's coming out of their mouths. GOD hereby declares that: “Saying GOD has begotten a son is nothing but a lie

A major mistake is saying that Shaivism is a "folk religion" or "non-Vedic". It is as Vedic as it gets, it is also a product of orientalism and indology that it is not. This prejudice that it isn't Vedic arose from essentially colonialist, "outsider" type discourses. There is the Sri Rudram hymn in the Krishna Yajur Vedam, which is the middle of all Vedas, referred to as the "Heart of the Vedas", and in the middle of that hymn (also known as the heart of the hymn), there is the well-known panchakshara or five syllable mantra, Namah Shivaya. But Shiva appears even in the Rigveda, and not only as Rudra, as is widely known, but to anyone who reads the text and knowledgeable about basic features of Shiva, such as three eyes, etc., will find that one of the greatest Vedic mantras, the Mahamrityunjaya mantra, which is along the caliber of the Gayatri and other of the highest Vedic mantras, refers to Shiva. And that mantra comes from the Rigveda (I'm pointing this out since for some reason the Rigveda gets all the attention). The Upanishads give no evidence for any other tilak than the Tripundra, the three lines of sacred ash worn by the Shaivas; this is why you can even see Advaita Vedantins like Shankaracharya himself, who was not a Shaiva by sect but merely a follower of the Vedas, wearing it, and this is why all the Shrouta Brahmins wear it. This idea that Shiva or Shaivism is non-Vedic is absolutely false. Even more, Shaivism and Shaktism are highly minority religions in overall Hinduism, so it is even more false to characterize it as a "folk religion". That is much more appropriately filled by Vaishnavism, which is the majority of India today, about 60-80% of the population, and which was spread by the Bhakti movement as well as their strong proselytizing tendencies. How would such an intricate, esoteric, secretive and complex religion like Shaivism or the more Tantric form of Shaivism be a "folk religion", when a Guru is strictly required, and otherwise one is lost completely? It is just the opposite of a folk religion, while Vaishnavism with its classical theism and focus on devotion as sufficient for salvation IS the folk religion, and that IS the reason why it spread far and wide. Real Tantra is selective with its students and elitist; hence the secrecy, initiation, secret teachings, symbology, and so forth. Just the polar opposite of a folk religion.

Excellent comment. Just want to add here that the Indic Dharmas are not the same as religion, which is a very Abrahamic concept - us vs them, so to speak. However, some people also fall into the trap of calling them just a "way of life", which is a very generic expression and as far as legal classification goes, very detrimental to its practitioners.

Thank you very much for the video. If i may add, those particular mandalas are called yantras and they are a visual representation of mantras. As mantras are the sonic manifestation of a form (each object has a reverberation and yogis and tantics sense/hear them in absolute silence. yantras are the visual representation of the essence of that form which again is seen by yogis in meditation. So they paint what they see and then anyone can use those yantras as tools to connect to the energy of the deities or the celestial bodies too. P.s. rituals with dead bodies and their ashes are mostly to encounter and SEE and learn death during life. To truly realize the mortality leads to transcending the physical and recognizing the infinite nature of the self🙏🏽

Concerning the Left-Hand Path (Vamacana): It's very important to understand that asceticism itself can form attachments in many cases: Attachment to celibacy; attachment to abstaining from intoxicants,; attachment to abstaining from meat; attachment to ritual purity; etc. So asceticism can be a barrier to enlightenment in many cases, and a vamacana master may recommend (supervised, regulated) sex, drinking, eating mean, violating ritual purity as a means of breaking these attachments. "Asceticism as a barrier to spiritual growth" is analysis the esoteric Abrahamic traditions (Sufism, Hesychasm, Kabballah) often lack. Many modern yoga instructors and gurus teach that the central energy channel runs along the spine, but this is slightly inaccurate from the perspective of the original tantric tradition (at least in the Śākta/Śaiva and Tibetan lineages I am personally familiar with); the central energy channel (called the suṣumna in Sanskrit) is parallel to the spine but slightly in front of it, extending from the perineum to the crown fontanel. The number of cakras (plexuses of energy channels) along the central channel varies according to the lineage, meaning that the popular seven-cakra system (originally with the root at the perineum, the sacral cakra behind the pubic bone, at the maṇipūra cakra behind the navel) is one of many systems that are still in use; e.g. Trika Śaivism uses both 5 cakra and 12 cakra systems, Śrī Vidyā uses 9 cakras, Shangpa Kagyu uses 5, etc. It's not a matter of one system being objectively "right," but more that the particular system one uses transforms the subtle body in a particular way over time by using focus, mantra, etc. to influence the flow of kuṇḍalinī according to to worldview and praxis of a particular lineage. In regards to the bit about sexual tantra, some lineages are big on first overcoming attachment to sex before the possibility of using it in ritual, and some are more focused on a transmutation of kāma/desire (as well as other subconscious, instinctual energies such as the self-preservation instinct) as a means of becoming free from attachment. I could also go off about fake gurus and several other topics, but let's leave it there

Do you know why it's taught that To be a Christian you need to keep repeating that Jesus is God? And why irani shia-rafizi says that Ali (R:) is God? And why pir-sufi says that To reach the highest level of spirituaity you need to repeat that 'I'm God and prostrate to me' like irani shia Sufi monsor hallaj (pir of dewbondi, tableeghi Jamaat, berelvi (Rizvi)? Because anti-christ dajjal will say that "I'am god/beggten son of God & prostrate to me! True Muslims will reject anti-christ for blaspheming (death penalty by TRUE GOD's Law for claiming such divinity) Because Eesa messiah (Alaihissalam) and Ali (R) never said that 'I am god or worship me.' Because Our beloved Prophet (ﷺ) never said that “I am GOD or prostrate to me!" May ALLAH Almighty protect us from this antichrist (dajjalik) fitna. Aameen Rather our beloved Prophet (ﷺ) said Do not exaggerate status of the Prophet: Umar ibn al-Khattab reported: The Messenger (ﷺ) of ALLAH, said, “Do not exaggerate my praises as the Christians have done with the son of Mary. Verily, I am only a servant, so refer to me as the servant of ALLAH and his messenger.” Source: S‌ah‌i‌h‌ al-Bukha‌ri‌ 3261 Grade: Sahih (authentic) according to Al-Bukhari abd - ullah is also mentioned in Isaiah 42 (Bible) Isaiah 42:1- Here is my servant (abd - ullah), whom I uphold my chosen one (Mustafa) in whom I delight (Habibullah’); I will put my Spirit on him, and he (Prophet Muhhammad) will bring justice to the nations. But we need to ask this question Why Egyptian pyramid on one $ USA? There also written "in god we trust" so they believe in one-eyed antichrist? Left-eyed antichrist symbol ? Persian Shia sufi Husain bin Monsoor Hallaj also used to worship jin saytan to open his 3rd eye and he was possessed by the dev-ill (devi-iil) that's why these blasphemous words “anal haq (I’m truth/god) and prostrate to me” were coming out from the mouth of mansur hallaj. kabbalah Jews, Illuminati & Freemasons, Christian saints, Buddhists monks, Hindu pandits, Persian shia sufis, dewbondi, tableeghi Jamaat, berelvi (Rizvi) pirs and Satanists also worship jin shaytan through meditation to open 3rd eye in order to reach the highest level of spirituality. May Almighty ALLAH protect us from this antichrist dajjalik fitna Aameen.

Tantric imagery includes depiction of deities in krodha (wrathful) forms and yab-yum (male and female unity) that have very comprehensive symbolism and not just only superficial thing like sex. Krodha deities depicted as eating brains, drinking blood, holding skulls, etc that actually has little to do with the need to eat literal human brains, drinking human blood, beheading people, etc. These are just symbolism signifying the practitioners to cut down their anger, selfishness, laziness, etc among others These then can easily be misunderstood by non Buddhist/Hindus, Islam is a religion that mostly prohobit idols, the krodha deities were/are seen as demons or devils and since sex is very much a taboo in the Islamic law, the yab-yum is essentially get mistaken as something indecent, inappropriate, etc. Tantric Buddhism and Hinduism have this secrecy culture to protect the teachings and themselves from getting misunderstood and persecuted by outsiders, that's why outsiders' knowledge of them are just these harmful and untrue misconceptions. This then benefit the Islamic missions/preachers that unintentionally/intentionally demonized and amplied those untrue stereotypes apart from getting patronage from the monarchs

The Prophet (ﷺ) said, "Every child is born with a true faith of Islam (i.e. to worship none but ALLAH Alone) and his parents convert him to Judaism or Christianity or Magianism, as an animal delivers a perfect baby animal. Do you find it mutilated?" Reference : Sahih al-Bukhari 1385 In-book reference : Book 23, Hadith 138 ALLAH created all people and endowed them with the predisposition (tendency) to believe in ONLY ONE ALMIGHTY GOD (ALLAH) Unseen alone and to submit to Him. There is no new-born child that is not born with the Fitrah (natural predisposition in believing in ALLAH ). Some people stay with their Fitrah, and some are misled by devils among mankind and jinn. Christian Standard Bible But I (Jesus) fear that, as the serpent deceived Eve by his cunning, your minds may be seduced from a sincere and pure devotion to Christ. (Bible 2 Corinthians 11: 3 That is why it is clearly stated in the hadith that every child, no matter who is born in whose womb, remains a Muslim as long as he is a child.Then by the influence of his/her Parents/Bad company/lucifer or baphomet or iblish satan’s persuasion (Following his/her own whims and lusts or In the greed of worldly wealth, fame, power etc.) he/she becomes a non-muslim/disbeliever/devil worhiper/ polytheist, Zoroastrian, idol worshiper/atheist/Buddhist, polytheist Hindu, trinitarian christian by his/her own free will. The Prophet (ﷺ) said in a Qudsi Hadeeth: “ALLAH say: I created all My Servants Hunafaa’ (i.e., following the original religion of monotheism, to worship none but ALMIGHTY GOD ALLAH alone), then the devils misled them from their religion and forbade them from what I made lawful for them and commanded them to associate with Me that which I have not sent down any authority for.” [Muslim] Jesus also said 📖 Luke 6:46 “Why are you calling me, 'My Lord, my Lord'', and you are not doing whatever I say?

One it keeps ur mind occupied ie into the prayer nd takes u aways from thoughts, as ur awareness is diverted or preoccupied by that prayer now in present time either when aggitated or as a practice .... 2. It keeps ur fists in a position wr in u have greater ability to by which u breathe in controlled manner ie loose fisted or u can also put palms down or the point wr beads rotate ie over ur first finger is a pressure pt.... this takes ur breathe below the chest, ie largely to ur diaphragm... Tantra are the traditions of Hinduism and Buddhism that developed in India from of the 1st millennium CE onwards. Tantra means any systematic broadly applicable method, instrument, system, text, technique or practice. A key feature of these tradition is the use of mantras. Starting in the early centuries of the common era, newly revealed Tantras centering on Vishnu, Shiva, or Shakti emerged.There are tantric lineages in all main forms of modern Hinduism, such as the Shaiva Siddhanta tradition, the Shakti sect of Sri Vidya, the Kaula, and Kashmir Shaivism. The connotation of the word tantra to mean an esoteric practice or religious ritualism is a colonial era European invention. One of the key differences between the Tantric and non-Tantric traditions is their assumptions about the need for monastic or ascetic life. Non-Tantrika, or orthodox traditions in all three major ancient Indian religions, hold that the worldly life of a householder is one driven by desires and greeds which are a serious impediment to spiritual liberation (moksha, kaivalya, nirvana). These orthodox traditions teach renunciation of householder life, a mendicant's life of simplicity and leaving all attachments to become a monk or nun. In contrast, the Tantrika traditions hold, that both enlightenment and worldly success are achievable, and that this world need not be shunned to achieve enlightenment, but it has to be guided by a Guru.

One of the books shown in the web search screenshot at 0:14 is actually an excellent book on Buddhist tantra, "Introduction to Tantra" by Thubten Yeshe. I have a copy myself, along with three other books written by Thubten Yeshe. By far the most accessible book on the essential practices common to all schools of tantra that I have read so far, though the principles in which the practices are contextualized are explicitly Buddhist, and the occult aspects of tantra like the attainment of preternatural abilities and esoteric rituals are omitted in favor of presenting tantra as a vast archive of methods to accelerate the attainment of moksha and fully resume one's true nature as a facet of the ultimate reality of Shakti by working toward visualizing one's body AS the body of Shakti, Shiva, or one of the many other deities that are emanations of Shakti (to use the Shaivic terms).

Thank you for your video. The quality is always there. I would like to give exemple of how complex and difficult is to make frontier in indian tradition. For exemple Shankaracharya's maths and lineage are professing advaitic philosophy but they have adopted tantric rituals and do not make vedic pujas anymore. Of course they chant vedic chants but the pujas by themselves are fully tantric, with mudras, pranayamas, mantra sang mentally, etc etc. You can check exemples on Sringeri math's KZbin channel where Chandramouleshwarara puja is performed by the pontif of this math every friday. Tantric components are used and completly part of this tradition and it was already the case even at the time of Shankara. Usually when we ask locals what is the difference between tantric and vedic pujas, that tantric pujas are more effective than vedic ones that's maybe why many brahmins have adopted tantric rituals. Of course here it is very orthodox with dos and don'ts (yamas and niyamas), respect of cast system, of purety rules, of brahmacharya.

Tantra is not bad at all. It's opening up of all possible energy channels in minds and body,to let out whatever that doesn't vibe with one's belief or soul,and letting in positive energies from around the universe, AND letting your sexual energy to create something new, beautiful and good with the energy that you attracted within. What's risky is, mind of the practitioner in that situation to slack back into negative vibes of anger, greed, vengeance, lust and create negative realities in the ambience and also get affected from it by themselves. And what's BAD is negative people at higher levels of power, letting the practitioner get affected by Satanic/Luciferian vibes/frequencies into their open channel system,to stop their ascension as well as the outer reality.

Umm I've always thought of tantra as a darker deeper version of Hinduism, but even the Gods & Godesses are in tantric form, and hence the practices to please them are different, more crude than normal! Tantric Hinduism is found more in Nepal and tantric Buddhism is found in Tibet! But the thing to remember is tantra is not in itself negative, its just different, its thought to be more powerful! Its hard to explain! When I hear tantra I immediately think of MahaKala/Bhairab forms of Shiva and the MahaKali and other darker forms of Devi, the darker more ferocious forms, and their own separate rituals and mantras that needs to be used to please them; and I think of magic/power/occult!

I'm interested in Shaivite Tantra Yoga and reading about it in the inner/esoteric sense is difficult living in the US, most Western literature focus on the outer/sexual aspects of Tantra and the books that are directly from India are either not translated or hard to obtain. I have had to read Alain Daniélou to gain some of the more esoteric Shaivite insights (his books are good, although not really Tantric) and scour Amazon's underbelly to find good books that put any focus on the spiritual explanations and left-hand nature of the path, many of which are self-published. Information of Aghori that is accurate is also rare, which is disappointing because I find their emphasis on death rituals and taboo to be fascinating. This must have been a very difficult subject to research well, thank you for presenting this in an informative way. I enjoy the videos on this channel, I also watch many of the Sufi and Islamic videos as that is also an interest of mine.

Osho did not reduce Tantra to sex magic as did Aleister Crowley. He was rather interested in the phenomenological significance of the sexual act in the path towards the divine. Awareness always played a key role in all his practices. In general, I expected a much deeper analysis of the basic concepts of Tantrism (for want of a better term). Still, the video offered a succinct introduction to the topic. Looking forward to your other videos on the individual schools under the umbrella of Tantrism. Best!

Tantra is kind of misunderstood even in India. It is compared to the Western Equivalent of Witchcraft, but it is actually very different. Tantra is not meant to harm anyone, and it does no bad, unlike the other magic traditions.

0:00 ' तन्त्र literally means "loom, warp, weave".[17][2][18] According to Padoux, the verbal root Tan means: "to extend", "to spread", "to spin out", "weave", "display", "put forth", and "compose". Therefore, by extension, it can also mean "system", "doctrine", or "work".[19] ' - Or, TECHNOLOGY. - 0:55 "If you consider sexual rituals and things like that to be bad." There is NO correlation between Tantra and 'sex'. NONE WHATSOEVER. And therefore there are no such things as "sexual rituals". 1:19 No. NO SUCH THING as "sexual rituals or sexual magic". You seek to clarify Tantra and get off on the wrong foot at the outset. NOT USEFUL! 1:37 Tantra is the technology by which means one transcends one's 'ordinary' self, by breaking the perception of this 'ordinary' self. 4:29 TANTRA: the technology by which means one transcends the 'ordinary' view of 'self'. 4:55 "Worship Shiva as the supreme god"? Rather as an aspect of Brahman.

Really nice video thank you. I must just say that the part about cakras had some mistakes, common misconceptions, but mistakes nonetheless. The part actually had nothing to do with that, what actual tantra texts say about them. This modern conception that cakras are some "energy wheels" in the body is purely based on the misconception that Sir John Woodroffe made in his book The Serpent Power" and after this in the 20 century Theosophist and Carl Jung took this misunderstanding and run with it. If you want to see academical studies in this topic you can read book called The Rainbow Body. Also scholar Christopher Wallis has made lot of work with correcting misconceptions about cakras. Although Sir John Woodroffe is the best scholar who has studied tantra he made little mistake when interpreting cakras. Cakras are actually a summary or recapitulation about the concept of tattvas. Tattvas are in Indian philosophy kind of metaphysical ladder or tree that list the ontological levels, i.e how the process of emanation takes place. And cakras are actually exactly same concept, but they are condensed version of these tattvas that is made for the practical usage, i.e for the rituals. And in this ritual context they [cakras] are said to be in spine of Siva. Unfortunately Sir John Woodroffe when he wrote the Serpent Power, which is basically a commentary on traditional text called Satcakra-nirupana, he didn't realise the context in which the cakras should have been construed. This is because Satcakra-nirupana is actually only one chapter of the text; Tattvachintamani in which the correct frame of reference would have been clear. Long story short, Woodroffe made the mistake when he located the cakras in the human spinal column, when they are correctly placed in to the body of Siva. And after this misunderstanding we all know how we get the woo woo theories how you should open your cakras and all... These ideas about cakras do not have any ground in the traditional text corpus, they are just misconceptions of 20 century.

Seeing the relative distinction between Tantric and Vedic beliefs as well as base texts, I am forced to think that Tantra and Shaivism could be continuation or derivation from religions of Indus Valley Civilization. The geographical regions where the tradition is popular corresponds to the region of Indus Valley, and various seals like that of Pashupati do denote a Shiva like figure. The integration of Gods like Shiva into Vedic culture is also a later phenomenon and may be an attempt to bring together the folk religions that survived since collapse of Indus valley into the wider Vedic tradition

About your first point - Yes. It might better be termed as a metareligion. But then, it's only outsiders who coined the term. And the British edified it while recording census data. And it's caused a lot of harm since then.

In my "Intro to Hinduism" course in university, my professor gave two lectures on Tantra. MILDLY awkward. The man is good-looking, and irreverent, which I love, but lecture number two, he comes in and says, "What were we talking about last time? Penises and vaginas, right?" And I'm sitting there like, "Jon, for God's sake...". XD

@@LetsTalkReligion, LOL, he was. But beyond that, too, he taught me all of this already, not to mention the Shakti traditions themselves, which I rather like. Christians were, shall we say, NOT HAPPY at the image of Mother Kali. For one, they struggled to imagine how the divine could be embodied in the feminine, and, for two, She's kind of terrifying if the only divine image s you've ever seen are crucifixes, and the Madonna and Child: peaceful, or at least harmless. They were used to femininity being divorced from divinity, even in the case of Mother Mary, who was very strictly of the "maiden" archetype, which Mother Kali embodies BOTH the "mother' and "crone" archetypes.
