What is that clicking noise? Evolve Electric Skateboard

I cant tell you how many times I have seen a video clip of someone on facebook asking what is this clicking noise? I have made a video here to cover that. More then likely your scenario will be one that I cover and you can diagnose it. Evolve Electric Skateboard Maintenance and Repair

I spent plenty of time trying to figure out how to figure out different things with these skateboards and then messing with it screwing stuff up spending all sorts of extra money still not getting it right. there's a point where I just had to start making videos. im just glad that yall can use the info or might be able to use it. that's what makes me happy. that's the clicking noise im experiencing right now, the bearing can slightly move out of alignment on the drive gear, its fucking plastic its gonna fail. i wish it was better

+Cole Elcome they're seated pretty deep it shouldn't come unaligned unless the bearing is bad. that's why mine was clicking. put that things in there tight as can be. I have an extra set of cogs here and extra bearings. they are all rigjt as can be. there's no way that bearing could rock out of there there's actually a lip it's seated in there so deep. if the bearings moving around it's bad

Hey joe If I have a skateboard but the motor doesn’t work, can I replace it with any other motor? Or would they have like different wires? I have one but they don’t sell replacement parts so idk if I could put another motor instead

Its going to depend on a few things. The biggest thing being who manufactured the board. Some companies like evolve use proprietary parts so its difficult not to use their parts. Let me know what you have and I can help you with options.

I have an evolve gt too By the way. It’s a diy version of my evolve gtr The site Skate Kastle has the metal wheel pulleys for the evolve bamboo or carbon gt, Gtx, And GTR models: they actually come in silver or gold

once i had a small stone caught in the wheel gear. A different instance the drive gear was making the clicking, although I was not able to detect any movement by trying to move it. but i had to reinstall the set screw with new loc-tite. Now it doesn't make any clicking. Though i wish there was a way to grease the bearings in the motor. I can see some dust on the motor bearing near the drive gear. I'd like to keep it clean. I rotate the wheels, clean and grease the bearings about ever third ride (50 miles).

+Joshua Wellington yeah actually now that I think about it I have picked out a couple little tiny rocks that got stuck in my gear. the main bearings inside that motor or actually in the middle. even the motors that went bad on me I've inspected them all in the bearings have been in Tip-Top shape. I honestly don't think they need any Grease. what I do recommend is a can of electrical parts cleaner and keep those motors clean that will be your best friend. I've noticed ever since I started doing that I've never had any motor issues again I mean it could be credited to the racestar motor as well but im sure keeping it clean helped a lot too. I'm dealing with a whole nother issue now with my carbon fiber deck though the whole rear of it split wide open. so I'll have that put to the side for now I'm going to make a repair on that next week when I do some work carbon fiber work on the DIY boards.

mine had da same sort of issue and thought it was da motors but after uplugging the motor wires and reconnecting dem it was fixed. over time the connectors seem to collect crap dust etc.

I will have to keep that in mind. So a bad connection caused the clicking? wonder why that was. Im assuming you mean you unplugged them at the ESC? shouldnt have any dirt in there so yeah i would say thats an issue. id seal that back up for sure

I have some troubble with my hub motors, i bought my board second hand so i dont know how its supposed to sound. But at low speed (not standing on the board just spinning them) it kind of have a grinding sound

I've actually tried to explain it before and I've had a couple people lost I think. my explanation is I just chased it out with a drill bit. basically made it bigger the inside area but I had to do it gradually a little bit at a time it wasn't really a quick process to be honest with you. I want to be sure I had is tight of a fitment as possible. that would probably actually make a good video because let me tell you those Wheels there I've had on that board for quite some time and they hold up super great. best thing is it's under 20 bucks for two of them! it did take a little bit of altercation but they work fine I have zero issues at all

I have the same evolve motor and I have a clicking problem and when I take out the pulley I can feel some play in the motor and just by turning it kit clicks...can the issue be the motor bearing? Or is it sosmething else in the motor?

+Axel Teboul been there, sorry you had to find out about them. I know all too well. when I bought mine very few people even had them so I kind of had to figure all this stuff out on my own. I was definitely in the same position as you I had the same exact thoughts as you. The Motors are just garbage thats all. I run a set of 200kv racestar (which i wouldn't recommend) buy the 140kv its an exact march to the stock ones. No issues at all through a lot of riding. I ride a shit ton. Unfortunately it doesn't stop with the motor. Ive had more crap break then you could imagine. i could make a list of stuff that broke or stopped working. I would never ever buy another Skateboard from them again. Maybe a used one for half the price. Never a new one though. I wish i could say different. I like them. I like the looks, the ride, ect but they are absolutely junk made and assembled in china with quality at all

Invest in electrical parts cleaner, not sure if you saw my video on how to clean them but its not too hard. The stock evolve just are junk and have no hope but the racestar you can get plenty of miles on.

+Roc Wimb I have a video that has a picture of a motor up there check that description I have every single motor on eBay listed that you can buy. belts I get from vbeltsupply.com and Will's I get from eBay. the trucks you can substitute the base plate and the midsection with Sidewinder 2's. the upper assembly can also be bought from........... +delsmysterytour I cant say ive ever had any clicking noises yet come from any of mine. I've yet to even wear a bearing down but I have had noise from vibration before that's for sure. lol. The board i have is performing well. I've moved over to using it everyday now at least five miles. we will see how I make out I will report all findings any issues or anything like that I will definitely make a video about it. I've had two so far one being the bad your thing will and the other being the retainer nuts snapping off the motherboard. if I run into any more issues though I will definitely without a doubt make a video.

Do you want a loose gear or not?

Definatly not. If the gear is loose, tighten the wheel down and check your bearings if it is tight. You want to check.ALL bolts before ride. They will back out and fall out. Any one of them
